NOOB Beta Update #3

Some more info about this ladies beta experience, short and sweet. Looks like you can see people pretty far away with mousing over them. Also, she compares shadow on and off in one screen.
The screenshots look horrible IMO, IDK how the game looks so bad on her machine. She says its on default and I believe she is using a 9800 GX2 graphics card. Graphics looked much better in the Italians screens and they said that was on default with 9800 GTX in the Grece office.

Yeah I don't understand the graphics complaint, it looks average or maybe even slightly better than most mmorpgs to me. They are much better than the most popular mmorpgs.
The graphics look fine to me, I'd say the problem lies with your machine, no problem here.
My machine is a GTX 260, 4GB RAM, Intel Quadcore 9450. No problem for any games so far, her machine is very powerful as well. I was just wondering how her "default" settings look so poor compared to the ones in the past few weeks.
The graphics in this game look good enough, I'm jut saying, her screens look so much worse than the ones we have seen and videos we have seen the last few weeks from others in Greece.
Hopefully this series of "reviews" will not drag on too much longer and we can see the game ourselves.
She is still only showing the starter areas, watch this be a new way of Aventurine making people just sit in the forums another year, they release 3-4 screens each couple days until they have shown all the areas lol.
At least its something though, nice to have updates or whatever this is, each few days instead of just a paragraph of vague comments by tasos each few weeks.

Yep same here. I dont see how people can call them horrible...especially when you compare it to a game like WAR but it is all personal opinion.
Seems way more people think they are fine or above average so im positive that they wont be an issue in terms of pulling in subs. That plus anyone who really woulnt play a game because the graphics arent top notch, especially in this genre, is just not worth discussing.

Yea, these graphics are not bad at all, looked much better than WAR in the Atehns video. Warhammer had good graphics as well if you have a good machine and play on highest, but different style. Some animation is pretty bad in Darkfall, but that can be fixed.
What I want to see are all the features they promised, how much is really in the game at launch? Age of Conan promised a ton and was missing about 50% of the features at launch, how complete is Darkfall wonder? COME ON OPEN BETA!!!
I hate the fact that we should be in open beta by now from what they said in the Athens event("Open beta Will End by Early December"). But, this lady says a few hundred people are in the beta at least, maybe we will get to try soon.

Its not a complaint, its comparing screenshots of the same game and seeing the fact that these look much worse. Nobody said the game has bad graphics.
Did you look at the MMORPG Italia screens and compare those to all the Noob Comic ones? Look at the Athens video and italia video and then look at this girls screens, her screens look much worse, thats all.
Why I found it strange is that both people said the game was on default settings and a similar 9800 GPU. Just wondering why it looks so much better on one machine with similar setups.

CLICK ON THE SCREENSHOTS IN THE REVIEW because you will see the full screenshot and not just a cropped version of a specific thing Gianna decided to highlight for the purpose of the review. Puts some things into perspective.
Khameleon I agree that i am itching to play to see what the graphics will be like on my computer. They seem to be on different settings in the videos, ADW, and screenshots so it will be interesting to see what the "real" feel of the graphics are when I get my hands on them.

this game looks MUCH better then it needs to for me. All I care about now is gameplay and how the game handles the stress of thousands playing at once
How many features made it into the final game from the stuf they wrote on paper in 2000-2003? that is the most important thing. We have no answers about that at all yet.
After that, how well the gameplay/combat is. Performance/Lag/FPS/Bugs.
Graphics is after all that, but good graphics cannot hurt, only add to the greatness of a game.
These beta testers must be some crazy ass people with no leaks and guaranteed $750-1,000 for selling the beta account. This game has the craziest MMO fans around, some that have waited in the forums since 2001, it amazes me that the beta testers are able to not leak out info when they know how badly people are waiting and willing to pay as well lol.

The graphics look like they were done by amateurs without an ounce of artistic talent in them. Here's a clue for you, having high resolution and polygon count is not equivalent to "good graphics".
I can't take anyone who thinks those graphics look good (or even above average) seriously. I want DF to succeed just as much as the next fanboi, but those screenshots look absolutly terrible.

Ive played games with MUCH worse gfx then this and had more fun playing ANY of the modern games for PC, 360, ps3 or w/e.

I don't think Ihmotepp gets the concept of 'quotes'. No offence Ihmotepp, but you've called me out before for saying something had no relation to the OP when I was clearly quoting someone else. Not every post in a thread is in response to the OP, m'kay?
Anyway, the graphics look ok. I like the style, it doesn't have the cartoony, simplified quality prevalent in a lot of MMOs these days. Shame the blood decals look like ass...

No but you'd expect them to look better than games built 6 years ago.
They don't even use simple bump mapping or the now standard normal mapping on objects and models for christs sake which gives things 100x more detail without adding anymore polygons or affecting performance.
This games engine looks like a dinosaur.
The graphics look beyond terrible for a game coming out in 2009.
But beyond that.. this "review" is a total joke. What the hell is this supposed to be? She talks about fucking shadows 1 month before the launch of a game that is supposed to have more features in it than WoW did?

looks great as usual. even relatively boring scenes like the ones shown are still full of detail, and much better than WOW/WAR.
i think the draw distance is just where i like it. long enough to spot movement on the horizon, but not so long that you're still able to skirt around an enemy city at the edge of clip range and not have them identify you.
which brings up another interesting thing - we will be able to spot people before we can identify them.
*yawn* these updates are a sleeping pill. I really care less about the graphics but it so obvious her words are very controlled by the devs. Of course she had to say something about her system's default settings this time.
