Simple Poll..

Reading Tasos interview and his Proclaiming of everyone else being afraid of Darkfall.. I thought I'd ask this question..

Will the So-Called "Fans" ruin Darkfall with thier anti-everyone else antics?

Or is it the trolls who only discuss darkfall with the "fans"?

    If Darkfall is a success, as in makes enough money to warrant keeping the servers running and pay off all the big loans and investments that went into it's development, the "fans" will be a tiny, tiny, tiny, fraction of players.

    People forget than 99% of MMORPG players don't post on or read forums.

    Depends, If the game is good people will play the game anyway.

    If Aventurine choose to listen to the whiners they will ruin their game. Like every mmo developer does, it seems.

    No actual discussion does take place, it is just hard when the trolls interupt almost every thread. People would actualy debate things if there weren't the constant flame wars where trolls seem to decided people have no right to discuss things other than what they want.

    I mean go back and look at the threads lol.

    Try discussing Graphics and bam, lol vaporware comments and comments like "lol graphics are from 1990" ect.

    Try discussing the AI and bam, lol vaporware comments and comments like "lol that was scripted with realm crafter"

    If it wasn't for the unfounded and utterly ridiculus statements made by the trolls the fans wouldn't be so defensive and uppity lol.

    Trolls try to deny it but it's in the threads plain as day.

    Even the thread that was discussing how bad the animations were got trolled and derailed lol, how about that. Tried talking about a bad point and even then they decide we are merely cultists with blind faith and need to discuss the validity of the game.

    DO these trolls sound like the "Realists" they try and make themselve's out to be?

    I think they've only got 27.5 million into it so far..

    That's a lot of money.. but at the same time.. It's not WAR type money..

    If they can manage a $50 dollar download or start up Fee.. from 300k players That'll be 15Million.

    They'll, then, only need 41.6 months of subscription fees from each of those users, to cover the rest.

    That's like 3.5 years/user.

    So don't play with them?  Get together a few friends, form a guild, and play against them.  A little rivalry never hurt anyone.

    "Fans" of DF wont ruin this game. If the game doesnt live up to my personal expectations and the ingame community is horrible then it would ruin the game for me. Fans and  ingame community are not nessesarily one and the same.

     

    Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
    Playing EVE Online and AOC.

    <Mod edit> (henceforth known as the REAL trolls) will quickly realize that every feature in Darkfall isn't exactly like the magical fantasy they've been playing in their heads and will get bored and move on.
    This is of course assuming Darkfall does in fact deliver on it's promises, and the jury is still very much out on that one. We've been here before, and gotten burned every time, so the odds are not stacked in Darkfalls favor here.

    MMOs don't usually get ruined by the fans, the haters, the sceptics, the optimists, the carebears or the hardcore crowd. They get ruined by developers wanting to please everybody like a cheap whore. Problem is when you please too much you get herpes and your customers too. I don't even know where i was going with that. Oh well. Testicles. Yeah, sounds like a good ending. Cheerio.

    If Darkfall delivers on its promises and every feature is in why someone should  get bored and move on who is waiting just for it ?

    I was a little worried about this as well, but if WoW can keep 10 million plus customers with the kind of fanboys they have,  then it shouldn't be much of a problem for DF. If, like WoW, the game is a success, then it will be filled with all sorts of players who never visit the forums and don't think they're god's gift to the gaming community. Sure you'll run into the rabid fanboys from time to time, but they'd rather stick together than mingle with the unwashed masses who pay to keep "their" game running.

    lol you really think any of us will matter?  the game's quality on release is the ONLY factor that matters with the game success.

    oh and Tasos didn't proclaim everyone of being afraid...although twisting his words around kind of proves his point doesn't it.

    I'll put it to you this way. If the game is released with any kind of flaw, bugs, or missing content...then YES the fan base will ruin the game. AoC is a prime example of this. I have never seen such a community be so negative in the official game forums. On the other hand, I have yet to see a solid perfect release on any mmo. There will never be a mmo that will make all the player base happy. It's just the negative ones tend to voice their opinion more vocally.

    Hmm...what? Do you really think the fee will be 1$/month?

    27,5 -15=12,5 --> 12,5/0,3=41,67 --> 41,67/15=2,78 months per user if there are 300k accounts per 15$/month

    I said long ago that the worst aspect of this game I could see was the community. Between the fanbois on this site, the hype crusades, and just the general elitist attitude of the community members, I said a while back that I thought the community was horrible. We will see if they change their tune when in game or not.

    Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
    Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

    If you don't like Hardcore PvP games... Thats fine.

    But why do you have to bitch and moan over it when a company is putting one out?

    The hardcore fans have alienated people before, but until the game releases and they actually get to experience it for themselves all they have to go on is what they've seen and read. Let's not forget that many games have turned out to be quite different from what they were hyped and over the last few years I've seen many a fan turned against their game due to disapointment on various aspects. I have to admint that it's happened to me on at least 2 occasions.

    We're likely to see a few fans quit following just for the simple reason that the game doesn't appeal to them once it is out.
