This thread ignores the fact that there are plenty of normal players looking forward to this game. I can't say if it will impress or disappoint, but I'm certainly going to try it.
Also I'm a self-confessed carebear. I'm not gonna gank some unsuspecting lowbie, but nor am I gonna cry if someone does it to me.
I'll play the game my way. I guess that's why I'm looking forward to it.
I said long ago that the worst aspect of this game I could see was the community. Between the fanbois on this site, the hype crusades, and just the general elitist attitude of the community members, I said a while back that I thought the community was horrible. We will see if they change their tune when in game or not.
I wouldn't count on it, they will probably still take offense when people insult them, call them cultists simply because they don't agree with them, call them elitists because they call someone a troll for posting "lol Vaporware" in a thread about graphics.
Nope I think the fans will continue to expect to be allowed there opinion, they will also continue to try and have discussions about things they like within appropriate threads and call those that try and disrupt them trolls.

Simple Poll.. Reading Tasos interview and his Proclaiming of everyone else being afraid of Darkfall.. I thought I'd ask this question.. Will the So-Called "Fans" ruin Darkfall with thier anti-everyone else antics? Or is it the trolls who only discuss darkfall with the "fans"?
I been posting on the Df forums, not even purposely trolling. everyone there is an asshat. I never seen a less mature community, bar runescape.
This is just a wild theory, but perhaps an FFA PvP game brings out the asshats in more abundance than your average MMORPG.
Common mistake imo. There are just as many asshats and griefers in purely PVE mmos.
If you played WoW...youll remember the elitest raid crowd that judged you based on your advancement in dungeons and gear. The DF boards can be rough, but they are straight forward. If you make a thread that is a repeat post of something that has been discussed to death...youll hear about it.
If you start a thread that is some conpiracy about the beta quotes being a fake, or something to that extent basically just being an idiot...youll hear about it.
If you troll, the moderators will ban you, especially when the fans troll and spam new threads. Its just very different than here because this site is more commercial...the mods there have no patience for idiots who get the pass here as long as they dont cross the line and flame people.

I have been accused by a fan of being a Darkfall vapor troll. You state that some people are alittle too fast to lable people trolls, but that they useually deserve it. Should be easy enough to prove right? Vapor troll is where someone calls the game vaporware, or we'll even broaden it in this case to make you happy to include claiming the games crap.
If I've done this as originalegg claims i'd sure like to see it. Maybe i have early alzhiemers? if not then i'd like it pointed out by a Fan that some fans do indeed lie and go well overboard (not just alittle) with labling others as trolls and that it is not always deserved, warrented, or have a postive effect on the DF community as a whole. (Lets not sugar coat it IMO rabid fans can have a negative effect on the games they claim to love)

(Note i never even said the graphics were bad, but i did claim i doubted the reviewers honesty when they made claims that with my own eyes i didn't see as fact.) It was a opinion stated once and yes it was viewed negatively by the fans and thus i was labled a troll.
So far from my experience here it would seem the Darkfall deffinition of a troll is anyone that (A) doesn't believe everything Tasos's says. and (B) Anyone with a opinion different then the fans that does not paint Darkfall or its reviewers in a good light.
Me i'm against the hype i believe it leads to false expectations. I had no trouble with The noob review, i did disagree with the 2 italians review which was to me hype. Some Fans here seem to live for hyping the game, thus they and i seem to bump heads more.

So, I'll write the formula and retry.
50x+15x(y) =27.5million
X=Amount of ACCOUNTS
Y= amount of months needed to break even.
I've made the assumptions that
-27.5 million is the only money used for development and all that needs to be recouped
-50 dollar intial fee
-15 dollars amonth
If X=300k then Y=4.16 months.
So.. my first number was off one decimal space..
Even with only 100k users, Averturine will start to show profit after a little over 14 months (servers and regular operational costs) which means darkfall will end up being a better game. More money for resources (whether that be artists, programmers, or even things like more memory..) means a better game.

don't bother. I've learned that the "fans" have just ONE universal slogan for anyone who doesn't whole heartily believe in darkfall and the Holy Word of our Lord and Savior Tasos.. Even our Lord Tasos uses it.. It's troll. If you aren't making up false claims or if you disagree with ANYTHING any of the "fans" claims you are a troll. It DOES NOT MATTER if you have never bashed Darkfall. If you aren't FOR the fans, you are AGAINST them.

I been posting on the Df forums, not even purposely trolling. everyone there is an asshat. I never seen a less mature community, bar runescape.

Common mistake imo. There are just as many asshats and griefers in purely PVE mmos.
If you played WoW...youll remember the elitest raid crowd that judged you based on your advancement in dungeons and gear. The DF boards can be rough, but they are straight forward. If you make a thread that is a repeat post of something that has been discussed to death...youll hear about it.
If you start a thread that is some conpiracy about the beta quotes being a fake, or something to that extent basically just being an idiot...youll hear about it.
If you troll, the moderators will ban you, especially when the fans troll and spam new threads. Its just very different than here because this site is more commercial...the mods there have no patience for idiots who get the pass here as long as they dont cross the line and flame people.

....or something to that extent.
That is trolling when you consider how often you do it.
We are all for good skeptical discussion....i can link you to many threads in which I and other people you call out for saying everyone is a troll have had good convos with skeptics.

OK so hopefully i'm not out of line here when i ask for proof.
I have been accused by a fan of being a Darkfall vapor troll. You state that some people are alittle too fast to lable people trolls, but that they useually deserve it. Should be easy enough to prove right? Vapor troll is where someone calls the game vaporware, or we'll even broaden it in this case to make you happy to include claiming the games crap.
If I've done this as originalegg claims i'd sure like to see it. Maybe i have early alzhiemers? if not then i'd like it pointed out by a Fan that some fans do indeed lie and go well overboard (not just alittle) with labling others as trolls and that it is not always deserved, warrented, or have a postive effect on the DF community as a whole. (Lets not sugar coat it IMO rabid fans can have a negative effect on the games they claim to love)
I admit i didn't think the video was coming out in August. In your book does that make me a troll? Am I deserving of the troll title for my statement of disbelief? (on the other hand i did claim I believed DF would be out this year, go figure. yes I'm such a vapor troll.)
I also admit i called into question the honesty of the 2 Italians when they claimed Darkfalls graphics beats any MMO's out today (LoTRO and AoC's). Many fans claimed that graphics are a matter of opinion So my opinion was different then theirs and i was labled a troll. (Note i never even said the graphics were bad, but i did claim i doubted the reviewers honesty when they made claims that with my own eyes i didn't see as fact.) It was a opinion stated once and yes it was viewed negatively by the fans and thus i was labled a troll.
So far from my experience here it would seem the Darkfall deffinition of a troll is anyone that (A) doesn't believe everything Tasos's says. and (B) Anyone with a opinion different then the fans that does not paint Darkfall or its reviewers in a good light.
Me i'm against the hype i believe it leads to false expectations. I had no trouble with The noob review, i did disagree with the 2 italians review which was to me hype. Some Fans here seem to live for hyping the game, thus they and i seem to bump heads more.
However when it really comes down to it this isn't about me but about the fact perhaps the fans can't see that they are indeed a bit out of control and at time lash out at people they shouldn't. ie potential players/customers. for something as simple as having a different opinion that yes might not show DF in the best light.

Ah good question. Personally i'd have to say yes. eg You can have Down syndrome and still be insulted if someone called you a retard. Technically it would be both true, and a insult if the person felt it hurtful.

Rules I will stick too. If I'm proven wrong (with facts not someones opinion) I will admit it. I will not lower my self to personal attacks or insult nore even simply mockery like the one liners ie golfclap and "its not your fault" that some of the fans seem to love. These in my opinion seem to come from people who don't actually have any case, and as such would just prefer to silence any open rational debate.
