Any guesses on when we will hear from Tasos about OPEN Beta?
Just a quick POLL to see what the prediction is, let's try and keep it civil. 
Edit: For the sake of the Poll, let's assume a Jan. 22nd release. Yes, I realize some do not think that will happen, but I couldn't think of every contingency for the Poll. Perhaps someone else can make a Poll asking that question. 
I also decided that given the Jan. 22nd Release date, that if we hadn't even heard an update about OPEN Beta by the first half of Jan... chances were that there wouldn't be any OPEN Beta at all. Tried to just keep it nice and simple.
Edit #2: I suppose it can be answered either way, but I had intended this to only address an UPDATE from Tasos about the OPEN Beta; not necesarily the actual OPEN Beta itself. Therefore the limited questions; and the "gap" between the 16th of Jan. 2009 and the scheduled Release Date of Jan. 22nd, 2009.

I'm hoping maybe a christmas present.
But if they don't have a game that is publicly playable by Jan. 22nd, I'm going to stop checking up on the game daily. And I think a hell of alot of other people will too.

You are very right. The most un-professional thing Aventurine does is set dedlines, that are absolutely set in stone, and then completely miss them and think nothing of it.
They better be damn sure it's the 22nd of January because otherwise theres no reason they couldn't of just said late January or even Q1 of 2009 to just cover their asses. That way if it releases early, great. If it's a couple weeks late? who cares, because you never gave a set date.

i would definitely be dissapointed if this day passes without release, but i would like to point out that any game is shooting 0% chance of guessing a release date until it actually releases. Most games miss their initial estimated releases.

Would be nice if at least there is some update given on OPEN Beta's status on Friday. I'd be surprised if OPEN Beta itself is before Jan. 1st 2009 though.
Honestly I have no idea, bit dissapointed in the fact that early december has come and gone and open beta hasn't even begun yet. I will however live lol. At this point we may not even see open beta till Jan. 2009 but who knows. An anouncement of some kind would be nice but I won't hold my breath.
I still believe we will see an open beta, just not going to speculate as to when.
It should be soon if the release is to be January 22 . Another thing..It should go gold around the 15th of January.
I'm also wondering about how long it will take the game to hit the US.
Right now I'm pondering on either a x-box 360 or just waiting for this game to release.

They claimed OB would be very short (mostly for server stress testing). We'll see, it will be Soon™ anyways...

But Aventurine is still way worse then most, at estimating release dates. I would say even worse then Valve.

it will be a short open beta, we knew this all along; a 2 week beta at the most. January 1st is a good estimate, early december if we get REEAAALLLY lucky but I doubt it. It will probably be after Januray 1st though, maybe exactly 2 weeks before Jan. 22, or maybe 1 week before.
EDIT: at squitty, Aventurine technically only missed 1 release date(03), estimating and having actual release dates are 2 different things.

If I was Aventurine, I'd announce OB Friday. At least, having the OB during Christmas would help a bit on sales later and on the game being known.
But, Aventurine does it all differently.

They could release darkfall today and make a load of cash like other unnamed mmos who have rushed release.
I'd happily wait another 2 years for darkfall if they can deliver what they promise. It's nice to have atleast one mmo push the envelope and try to accomplish something extraordinary. That's how games in general used to be. Games nowadays are like formulaic commercial movies. Trying to take in the most cash with the least risk. Darkfall is taking risks.
It's evident that Adventurine is taking pride in their product.

I don't think there will be a beta. I think the first anyone will see the game is when they offer a free trial.

The only way for an early December finish or start for OB right now is if there were a global time machine of sorts. 15 days left of december, 16 have passed, early December has come and gone. I will simply assume you meant mid-late December.
As far as the length of the beta, yes we have known this all along. So I am not sure why you quoted me lol. I said I was a bit dissapointed that they missed the OB date. They set the end for early December, which has come and gone already. Again I am mildly dissapointed but I am not heart broken lol.
