    PR?  Who said it was about PR?  DFO can't SHOW me anything impressive, and when a game is supposed to be going gold sometime this week, that is a problem.  They don't have to sugar coat or spin anything, or polish any prepared statements.  All they have to do is put some videos on youtube and say "look."  OH wait, they did that, and the youtubes are mostly stills and many beta shots that look like an alpha.

    Let's run down the list:

    * Beta footage that looks like an alpha?  CHECK!

    * Graphics from Asheron's Call part 1? CHECK!

    * No stress test? CHECK!

    * Shoddy company history? CHECK!

    * Choppy animations?  CHECK!

    Not sure why some people expect success here.  There is no reason to do so, and the features they've announced don't stand out from other games in any way.  I imagine that the people who read about Darkfall and expect success are the kind of folks who do the exact same thing every day and expect different results.

    We've had the same concepts slammed down our throats because one game was super successful (and you could argue it wasn't just because of the build, but because of where they pulled people in from), and now, a game like Darkfall that doesn't follow the same old loot grind for useless PvE BS.  We have the opprotunity to actually play a game that will end up being a lot of fun, with challange and actual penalty for playing.  Where the frustration of being wisked to your last bind spot on death, and the heart pounding action of running into a rival clan in your hunting area.
    Now, the question is,  what other things could make Darkfall succeed beyond your expectations, and likewise, what make make Darkfall a failure?

    The problem is the majority of PLAYERS don't post on forums, so it's not really relevant what the majority of POSTERS are doing. Many people that post on forums don't have the money to buy a game box, or pay a montly sub. But they can sure bitch about a game all day for free on a forum.

    The majority of PLAYERS are happily playing WoW, and don't even know this forum exists.

    But the folks claiming bliss in WoW are checking these forums to read up on a game they "don't like" for a reason.  Hell, there are a lot of games to the left.. and I don't browse those forums.. because I don't care what happens.. get it?

    LOL.. just read your post history.. Dude.. you LOSE the internet.. go back to wow you useless troll.

    Your post history, by contrast, is somehow more impressive? I can't help but stick it to the companies who do not deliver, and the makers of DFO are one of them. The videos and screens I have seen exude boredom.

    Want to know what MMO games I am looking forward to?
    KOTOR MMO, that is all.

    Mortal Online might be impressive. Darkfall online definitely is not. I'm happy that it's not vaporware anymore, but sad that we're getting the MMO version of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daikatana .

     Come on, this game has much more of a colorful past then any other game in development right now.  The biggest reason is that Darkfall is such an interesting case of 'vaporware vs reality'.   Even a lot of people who have no plans on playing a FFA pvp game are just curious to see if there is actually a game at all.   I'm still 75% sure the game is vaporware myself.

    The game is also interesting because it is different than anything released lately.  It's fun discussing FFA PvP and 'sandbox' in regards to MMOs.  This is one of the few sites where all the games are basically discussed at the same place.  The thread I started is very long, and it is mostly about the viability of a FFA pvp system in a game,... not really about Darkfall in particular.

    And the final reason I'm here is because this is the only way I can PvP while at work  :)

    Right.. But.. if their game is so awesome.. Why not read up on it?  I read up on Asheron's Call (and still do).. just to learn interesting things about the game.

    Everyone is curious about Darkfall, but what's the point of coming here to Bash it (like what's his name)? It's one thing to come in and tease the fanbois (I'm guilty here) and post actual concerns or questions, but to come here and blindly rip on darkfall..   What purpose does that serve?

    So.. coming her to bash darkfall or AoC is "Okay?"

    Bash? I just want people to know that there is another side to the silver mirror. You call it bashing? I call it honesty.

    And your repsonse to any of the OP is what??
    I already bulleted and listed the factors that make up my impression of DFO. If the company had made a positive impression, I would have listed some positive qualities. Look for the * and try to refute the arguments, not the person.

    Daikatana, I mean Darkfall, is being hyped far beyond its means, and will fail.
