and people like you make the game more more dead.

Why? Because he stated a probable fact that anyone is free to confirm? TCoS will be gone before Acclaim ever manages to get it running in NA with the current state of affairs. These people aren't SOE, they can't afford to keep a zombie alive, especially when the zombie has never even been fed to begin with.

I don't know what i'm doing wrong but... I downloaded the US client, made an account with acclaim, and tried to log in... TCoS stated that anyone could play for free till around lvl 7 to test it out before subscribing.  So why did Acclaim make all accounts pending to not let people try it out... honestly I just want to check it out before deciding to subscribe to it.

You did NOT download the US CLIENT cause ACCLAIM hasnt come out with it since they havent even recieved the CODES for the game yet. You probably downloaded the english Europe client.... but you need too create an account from the European site. but they have ip blockers too prevent those who arent supposed too play like North America.... (but if you use a proxy browser) you can create an EU Account. but im not gonna say more since there is about 30 threads in MMORPG.com about how too.

Excuse me for going away to do, like y'know, stuff.
I didnt realise forums had to be a real time conversation to be 'won'.
Thank you for seemingly all being aware of me though. I guess it is fame, of a type. I can't say I have ever noticed you before... Or have we met with you on an alt account? You'll have to let me know.
TBH, I gave up on the possibility of having a reasonable debate about this exactly when you guys slid into personal attacks in lieu of actual arguments.
I never once attacked anyone here and kept the conversation about the point in hand. Pity you guys can't say the same.
    Tragic really.

    Catty is time passing.

I was looking at the only other time I've replied to your post, either you defeated me so sorely that it isn't viewable by my vanquished eyes; or you got the delete key from posting direct attacks against me.

In which case, you have attacked before.  Now you have the taste for blood, the transformation is inevitable at this point.

Either way, if it ain't in Americuh it ain't anywhare else and that is fer true.

So, you are being antagonistic towards me just to get a rise and pass time?

That is the definition of a troll.

Me? I came here with valid points. Pity you only came with insults and pointless flames.

I have no idea who you are, and I actually do make a note to remember those who (though I may not agree with them) make good arguments.

Now you have the taste for blood, the transformation is inevitable at this point.

    Gibberish, but ok.

I see you did once post this before though...

I'm generally nice to strangers, even the rude bums asking for my credit cards, but the sheer amoung of ignorance on the net sends me into a nerdrage from which I cannot escape."

I guess you know the word 'hypocrite'?

Eitherway, I don't care, I won't feed you anymore. I'll leave the (inevitable) last word to you.

So, mmorpg.com does, on some level, acknowledge that this game has actually launched?

"...has written this post-launch update on The Chronicles of Spellborn"

Surely a game that has launched is live?

    confusing.

Imagine you run a website based in the United States. You web site has global appeal, but most of your visitors are also located in the United States.

Now, imagine you get 300 e-mails per day from people complaining about how you run your website. You're deciding how to list The Chronicles of Spellborn. Your goal is to minimize the amout of complaint e-mail you receive. More people will complain if a game is listed as live when they can't play it (without using a proxy site) than will complain because a game is listed as in development.

That a word as inflamatory as "xenophobic" (one step shy of calling someone a racist) has been used over something that is basically standard customer service policy (minimize complaints) should give you a glimpse of how rabid this site's hate mail must be.

Finally, there are scores of games only avaiable in Asia. Should those also be listed here?

I am imagining that I would control these 'complaints' by putting a sticky up in tthe game's forum explaining that it hasent released in the US yet, but it is live in the EU.
I would do this to let the casual EU people know that it is live there. And to let the casual US guys it isnt there.
'Cause right now, to the casual gamer in the EU looking for a game to play, who might try and love TCoS, this game isnt even out yet, according to this site.

Not if they could read a 1 line explaination it wouldnt?

Actually, you have misquoted me, I said 'approaching xenophobia'.
It isnt good debate to step up a quote in seveerity by misquoting it intentionally it to make your point more emotive :(
But considering mmorpg.coms policy on this is 'if it ain't in America, it 'aint happened', I think 'approaching xenophobia' is literally correct. It is. I don't apologise for it's use. Nor do I think it's 'rabid'.
Finally, there are scores of games only avaiable in Asia. Should those also be listed here?
If they are in English, with an English website and English support, then yes.
    Why not?
Also, see what I posted above, which you have chosen to not address, how this site recognises this game has launched, by doing a post launch review, but still insists that it isnt live in it's listings...
    This is a silly situation.
A lot of mmorpg.coms users are ultra casual, popping only now and again to see whats what, and in the 10 minutes they might spend looking for a potentiol new game to play here all they see is TCoS in the 'Games in Devlopment' section and not ready to be played, no matter where they live. So, even if they are in the EU they don't even try to play it and another player who might have loved the game is lost.
This is a shame to me.

It may be a bit less confusing to the masses to have the game listed as unreleased rather than released right now.

If a person from an unreleased area comes here and sees that it is released then they may waste many hours trying to figure out why their account is listed as 'pending' and wondering where to download the client.

If a person comes here from a released area and sees it as unreleased then the worst that could happen is that they may end up waiting a bit longer before attempting to play the game.

Listing it as unreleased is the lesser of the two evils IMO. But yeah, vesavius, it would help if they stickied something saying where exactly its released.

This is a US site and this game is not available in the US. Really why can you not understand this?

  • ghaianaghaiana Member UncommonPosts: 106

Most sites that profile themselves as a site from a specific country use no .com,  MMORPG.com should just learn that there´´s quite a world beyound the US.

Someone also said that if the game wasn´t released all over the world, it wouldn´t be mentioned as released in MMORPG.com. Remember that WoW was only released in Asia about one and half year after the release in Europe, but it has always been notified as released. Besides how can MMORPG.com even know if games might have plans to release in other countries later on? I guess that if you use that argument, MMORPG.com should give all games the status unreleased.

I also wonder if they don't mention games on this site that are not officially released in the USA at all...Anyway a smarter move would be if they just mentioned on this site in which part of the world games were released instead of flagging it released or not released.
