My SWG comeback, after 4 years gone (Good info for newbs too)

WOW!
I must say this game has become breathless!
Community is VERY helpful and nice. Best there is! 
I played the game when it was released. We left when all our shops & vendors suddenly where gone one day we logged on.
I was very sceptic to a comeback, but I am so impressed that I suggest anyone who has interest in a Sci-Fi game to ttry this.
Its low rating is really not showing the 'thruthness' about this game.
You can change class (professions) whenever you want, and the combat animations of the characters are really great! There are as well so many cool armors, which makes me really digging my character, so I feel real unique. One great thing is that I am not using any title, so noone can see that I am a Bounty Hunter; this will come handy when I hunt down players with bounties on their heads!
There is so much to do ingame ( I am L27 atm), that it is almost overwhelming.
I came to EU Chimera this time (old character were gone from my account, but I dont mind at all since they werent on this server 
)
I am a total disaster when it comes to make contact with people in MMORGs, so I mainly solo all by myself. But here it all has changed; I have been given some real insane powerful armor (killing L42 mobs at 27!!), I have been giving a very fast Swoop Bike, and one Bounty Hunter even gave me 1million credits to help me going ingame! All this for free. I have NEVER begged for anything ingame in any game. All this has made me real 'flying high'.
The best part about SWG is that if you get 'bored' about fighting on the ground, then go the the spaceship terminal, then fly out and do combat in space in your space ship! How awesome isnt that?? 
If you are from Europe I strongly suggest you play on EU Chimera, the server is just great.
I could keep on going by bragging about how great this game is, but now I want to log in and do some quests instead!
I will most certainly be back with more positive information about SWG later. It is a shame this game is rated so low, it really doesnt deserve it. They have put alot of effort into making this game better, and I would say they have succeeded. you bet there will be even better things to come as well!

I would grant you that SWG would be easily hacked if you found out someone's userid...they have no password security measures at all.

Well, I played on 2 accounts back then, and the account where my character was gone, was worthless, so I could care less. Only thing that could be of interest, is the rewards the veterans get, but meh, there are more important things than that in SWG atm.
SWG is really enjoyable atm, and that is what counts for me. I will prolly (when I bother) send a mail to SOE and ask if they can reimburse the character. The character was on wrong server as well, so I would have to transfer the character as well.

Some people have some REALLY low standards. SWG is essentially a paid Beta. So if you are in to paying someone to play a Beta then the OP is on to something.
Combat - Broken
Economy - Broken and hyper-inflated
Quests - Arguably the WORST in any MMO
PvP - Arguably the WORST in any MMO
The rest has been well documented. I hope that people on this site are smart enough to play the free trial before they read and believe this sort of bogus hype. Enticing people to waste their money isn't ethical and it isn't being a good fellow gamer.
For ANYONE who might be persuaded by the OP to try SWG, there is a Free Trial. Be sure to try it before you pay a dime for SWG. The download is a pain and it is often broken, but it's better than paying for the box and a subscription only to realize you have been "punked" by a member of this forum.

For anyone reading the last post please note that the poster has a axe to grind with this game. It is not possible for the poster to not respond to any positive comment made ever on these forums without posting his opinion of the systems in the game.
I have been playing the game since launch June 2003 to the present (with a 2 month break one time) and find the game in all it's forms over the years to be enjoyable.
It would seem he's not the only one with an axe to grind...
I have no axe to grind. I am not posting "opinions" either. What I say is supported in a number of way by bugs, glitches, poor implementation, and poor quality of gameplay.
I simply don't like the viral marketing that takes place. It isn't ethical.
Instead of you people coming on here and lying about the condition of this game why don't you just suggest that people try it for free?
There is a FREE TRIAL. Don't pay for this game until you have tried it. There is a good reason that SWG is widely considered one of the worst MMO games on the market. It isn't by accident. It is likely that 9 out of 10 people who try this game don't find it worth continuing to play, hence game populations remain incredibly low.

SWG starts at level 90. The game is fine. Populations are fine to, a perfect amount of people i would say.
BTW I also feel that thanks to YOU and individuals like you it has become almost a sin on forums like this to share personal opinions, cause people like YOU for some reason think that when someone simply states a opinion that it must be a fact, cause if YOU did not read the OP as a fact you would never have responded like you did, cause if you actually understand that the OP is stating his opinion then you should know that not everyone will always share the same opinion.
OP: Glad you found yourself a MMORPG to enjoy again, myself had enough of SWG but had fun even when I returned for about 8 months in 2007, I mean i've been with the game in CB/OB from release till the NGE + 8months in 2007,but now simply am looking for something new, but at the same time looking for something similar, but more in the way pre-cu was.

I have played recently... remember SOE allows us all to come back for a free month every 3 months or so.
Combat is not always broken, and does work more often than not, but yes, sometimes specials forget to fire (always right when you need them most IMO... ie: a heal)
The mechanics of PVP work ok, but the community is horrid, I've never seen such juvenile smack talk in my life. It's like the kids whose parents wouldn't let them play Team Fortress finally found a home.
The economy, which I happen to find vital in an MMO, is completely destroyed in SWG. Having to spend millions just to be viable in PVP is ridiculous. Plus, in a game based on an IP movie that actually states a few prices ("5000! We could almost buy our own ship for that!"), it's extrememly immersion breaking when that 5000 in the movie has become 500,000,000 due a broken economy.
The quests are a joke. Kill 10 of those, kill 10 more of those. The Jedi quests are almost alway assasination missions (not very jedi like) because the Devs just don't care about Star Wars.
And the population? Don't even TRY to say they are sufficient.
To sum up. If you are a Star Wars fan, this game will only piss you off (and you've probably tried it already and moved on).
Try the free trial and buyer beware.

You are correct Veritas, we do need a frame of reference when dishing bad reviews out to SWG.
I do think, that by comparing the current SWG to Pre-CU as far as population goes is a sufficient measuring stick to show how far things have declined in that regard.
As far as quality, I give you WoW. It may not be everybody's cup-o-tea as far as setting and art direction, but it certainly works well. SWG runs like a Fiero that hasn't had the oil changed in 25 years, while WoW runs like a well tuned Porsche.
That's not an opinion, it's a discernable truth.
Yeah...Kauri certainly has the perfect amount of people if you like to play alone.

Oh, by the way, YES, I do think when a game is so widely considered to be horrible that there is some grounds to question why people are willing to defend it so blindly. Go read the Dark and Light forums from years past, that game was truly a joke but people were doing just like you are right now and blindly defending it... Some things never change and some fanbois never learn.

PvP is the best you have played? I guess you haven't played many games...
Populations are perfect? 90% of the servers are 95% DEAD. The 4 populated servers are shells of their former selves...
And YES, I have played the game recently. I know exactly what the game is like. Also, you claim that "SWG starts at level 90..." so why does everyone have to PAY for levels 1 - 89? It's a paid beta, nothing less, and you basically just admitted that much.

what i dont understand is why promote a game which will be gutted of its used base once old republic launches..even if old republic looks like a slightly better swg. the game was a failure from laucnh, both the trek and star wars ip are long in the tooth, b

On the other hand, those who make brand new accounts on these forums to post their trolling deserve to be IP banned. You guys need to man up, and likely grow up aswell, this game is not as bad as you all make it seem. I witness this firsthand yesterday, I'm addicted once more and I'm resubbing.
The problem is that the game used to be better with more poential and now its just ok...... it'll do until something better comes along.
There is a free trial available. Play for yourself. Experience it for yourself. There's no reason to come here and gush about how awesome this game is, no matter how much people like me will question your motives for doing so.
Why is a good opinion "ok", but a bad opinion immediately attacked? Some of you need to look up the definition of irony. If the OP has the right to gush about how...good... this game is, than so do other people have the right to contradict him.
I'm not sure what kind of person finds this game enjoyable, but at least it's keeping that horrid community away from other games.

On a side note you know what is sad that I've seen post of you which shows you are looking for similar things I am still looking for in a MMORPG, yet for some reason you will not reply to me towards what I said but you just blindy respond towards what OP has said without getting what I responded to YOU. I ground my axe to the point that both blades broke off.. Even then I like to pretend to be logical sometimes.
