    To Recklaw:

My  main concern towards people like the OP...

First of all, I am completely allowed to debunk any myth he/she posts about this game on this site as much as he/she is allowed to post any myth on this site.

SWG isn't the pretty picture he/she painted, not even close.  That said, it isn't the brutal picture that some post on here.  To me, it's nothing more than a paid beta.  An experiment that failed and now is in cruise control until TOR comes out.  No money is being spend on the game, the development team is small, and certainly no expansions are coming towards SWG...

The systems from the failed experiment still don't work as intended.  The economy is hyper-inflated.  Combat isn't suited for the game engine and NGE speed adjustments cause peformance issues.  The quests are truly horrible until you reach higher levels which clearly causes low retention rates.

Basically SWG is the game they tried to build on the fly after the NGE and failed.  The servers are empty.  The game speaks for itself.  I don't need to worry about scaring people off because SWG does that all by itself.

I don't believe it is ethical to make claims about this game that are quite clearly misguided and might entice people to spend money on something that isn't what they thought.

To everyone:  Try the Free Trial.  Obviously, it's free.  Don't spend any money until you have.  Make up your own minds.  SOME find the game acceptable, MOST do not.  Period.  End of story.

    Tecmo Bowl.

Congrats.  This so far is the first "returning veteran after x years gone and the game sucked then but is AWESOME! now" posts where the OP doesn't insult those who loved the old game.

Which, of course, didn't keep the usual suspects from doing it anyway.

We don't respect the idea of paying to play a beta.  It tells the industry that people (even if not many) are willing to pay for a game that is subpar.

So its true and not made up by present players that "disgruntled vets" by their own admission since your speaking for them all using the word "we".  You dont respect them so treat them like dirt under your shoes.  This is an admission by a "disgruntled vet" for "their side" I would love to put on a banner under a sig for this forum.

Basically you dont respect people because their taste in games is not yours?   Somehow they are lesser human beings because they enjoy something you hate?  Well then why with all the denial then when in fact what has been said by many is in fact true.  "disgruntled vets" are by their own admission rude, due to lack of respect for people who play a game that they hate.

Some people have some REALLY low standards. SWG is essentially a paid Beta. So if you are in to paying someone to play a Beta then the OP is on to something.

So you think it's impossible to not respect someone and *not* treat them like dirt? I think that would describe most of the vets.

As I have said time and time again, and I will say it again for those like you who seem to need it repeated multiple times...

MOST people who try SWG don't continue to play it.  The population proves that.  SWG is part of the Station Pass, it has traffic the most MMO games don't get, and it STILL can't retain players.

So when I say "we" I am speaking for the 9 out of 10 or so people who play SWG and agree that it lacks enough to warrant paying to play it.

There are too many holes, too many bugs, too many inconsistencies, and not enough fun factor for most people to be willing to continue paying for it.

The servers don't lie and they have been dead for going on 3 years now.

Please don't be upset because I am right.  Just accept it.

I think I can say with absolute certainty that my opinions are far more representative of a far larger block of SWG players (past and yes, present) than those of Badger, Obraik, etc.

Which is why I can say "we" and be right most of the time.

If the game weren't pissing on death's door they wouldn't be dropping to 13 servers (they should drop to 5 or less) from 25 and have just released a producer's note that basically has NOTHING beyond the VERY NEXT UPDATE, nothing for 2009.

    http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/preList.m?topic_id=821470&post_id=8941624

Which is why the usual propogandists show up here.

So then "you" are showing rudness and lack of respect for people because you feel they are in a minority?  That sounds even worse, but hey whatever.   I didn't know that was acceptable either, but hey whatever floats your boat.   I'm just glad you admit that your rude to people who play instead of the usual "no we aren't rude they were rude first so we are rude to them garbage".   Praise be small miracles when they do happen.

The "Vocal Minority" have never had anything to do with Wow-envy that SOE and LucasArts have to this day.

    Keep blaming the CUSTOMERS...  LMAO

Would it have mattered? SOE didn't care what its players wanted...the various developer admissions that have taken place in the last few years made that very clear.

Congratz, man what has taken that long for you to finaly understand what I've been saying always, you suprised me with finaly saying what I've been saying for such a long time, yet you mostly choose together with a few others to try and twist things or totaly ignore what I wrote most of the times. So I am glad that finaly you got it right. So next time don't confuse Players with Whiners as they are not the same......Thanks.

NEWSFLASH TO WILDCAT: 90% of former SWG players don't give a shit.

So I started to walk into the water. I won't lie to you boys...I was terrified. But I pressed on, and as I made my way past the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was divine intervention or the kinship of all living things, but I tell you, Jerry, at that moment ... I was a marine biologist.

That's not exactly breaking news. It's also the reason SOE is now merging servers.

Following their standard cycle, are we not approaching the "Gonna lose their license in February" shutdown date? I expect we will hear the latest iteration of this rumor within the next week or two.

I can't wait, the story gets better every year.

The NGE doesn't have to shutdown to fail or be a failure.  The fact that 11 or so servers will simply be on but completely barren used shows how bad things truly are.
