No updates since 12/24. You'd think they would say something about something at this late date. Like I don't know - Where we'll be able to buy the frackin thing.
Yeah yeah, I know - It will be downloadable....from um......the Internet.
Tasos will keep the NDA up till release day so the surprise is not spoilt for everyone.
Most people want to explore the game from a fresh perspective and not have the magic of the undiscovered world ruined by the minority of haters whining about the NDA and asking pointless and unnecessary questions about the recommended system requirements, what features have been cut for release, or how much the game will cost etc.
For this reason Open beta will probebly start after the game has launched, Tasos asked me to remined you that the game is a lot of fun and we hope to see all of you enjoying it while helping us test during these next phases.

Lol
Agreed
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
I wouldn't really be surprised if they kept in in effect for quite a while. If open beta starts and it does indeed launch, is there a real need to know what happened in closed beta? It certainly isn't standard practice, but nothing about DF is standard.
Your mind is like a parachute, it's only useful when it's open. Don't forget, you can use the block function on trolls.
My best bet is that NDA is probably going to be dropped just a few days before release. And you honestly think there will be an open beta? I'm 90% sure there won't be. All I hope is they won't postpone the release date again.
And seriously, all the talk concerning what if about Darkfall on these forums... what's the point of it? Everyone can give his opinion but it's all speculation. Lots of people are having high hopes for this game but we'll just have to wait and see. And we can comment afterwards if it did or did not match our expectations. And some people are bound to be disappointed no matter what happens anyway...
One thing's for sure... all this secrecy has created a lot of hype (both negative and positive) so lots of people will try this game. And the good thing is, it's drawn a lot of attention to sandbox games... I sure hope producers will notice this and start making more games of this kind from now on. I don't want the theme park supremacy to end (well not necessarily), just to have more options for sandbox games... Ok this is going off topic I'll stop now
the lack of open beta and the effect of a still present NDA is achieving exactly what they want.. People are talking about it. It keeps the game in people minds and on various gaming sites boards. So all these posts whether by trolls or fans is adding to he hype.
I voted can't decide because this company does things so unconventionally as is who can really say what they will do. But I can say that the last game I saw to do this was AOC and we all know how that turned out. As I stated earlier they certainly go about there business different than others so I will reserve judgement.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
No it doesn't. It tells you that there is currently no open beta and that the NDA is still in effect. Darkfall will have to launch, and you'll have to play it to have insight to what you already said you think you know.
You should never ignore the effects that pre-release business decisions can have on consumers. In the present state of the gaming industry, and the MMO market in particular, players rightly expect that adequate information about any given title will be available leading up to launch day, so that they can make an informed decision on the purchase. Up to this point, practically every MMO that has retained its NDA until launch day has fallen far short of expectations...the folks at Adventurine have to be smart enough to know that people draw conclusions based on past experiences, and that gamers will see a lack of information and an in-place NDA in the days prior to launch and assume that it means the company has something to hide. Whether you think that means they may have a sub-par product or that they just think that have something really special and don't want to "spoil" it depends on you, I guess, but the majority in this day and age are cynical and skeptical...I think it's safe to say that regardless of how good the game actually is, the lack of available info and marketing and the in-place NDA can only hurt 1st quarter sales.
It tells me the game is not going to do very well or even a decent game.
No it doesn't.

This is just not true. There are very few rapid fanboys left any more. Most players will NOT pay a dime to play this game on the 22nd with things going the way they are. (no real beta and NDA on everything).
Tasos and others keep talking about all the forum activity and 'hype' about this game... what they fail to mention is that the vast majority of people posting doubt the game even will launch on the 22nd.
Most of us are content to just sit here on the 22nd and whatch the scam fall apart.
If you call mmorpg.com the vast majority of the darkfall community, then sure, they won't buy it. But truth is, it's the haven for darkfall trolls, now if you go on the real forums....Youd probably get told "Shut up they told us enough!".

Topic is "Is the NDA going to drop before release?"
(For the other topic, I'm looking into it).
They will have to drop the NDA if they have an open beta. So the real question i s "Will they have an open beta?"
I don't think they will ever drop it as that requires them to make an announcement which they won't do.
If there's a trial or an open beta it won't be relevent anyway.
The NDA applies to the closed beta and other testing...
They dont EVER have to drop it... and I dont expect them to.
The whole thing is just wonky.

12 days to go and people stil come to the forums to be crying bitches.
I believe they will keep the NDA into effect until they release (whenever that is).

they can do an open beta for a few days its plenty of time

The only reason there is not an open beta and the nda lifted before release is the game is not liveing up to what was promised ie: Funcom example.
MAGA
Although I doubt there will be an open beta, AOC didn't drop theirs when they had the open beta.
The reason Funcom ie: Age of Conan did not drop there nda was they new the game did not live up to there hype and did it intentionaly.
