*Puts out the torch* hmmm, no trolls here after all

On a more serious note, I think you made some good points here, but if the past year of MMO's has taught me anything, ill be making sure I wait for some player reviews (perhaps a trial), instead of buying into all the pre launch hype (deserving or not). Still, to see some possibly unique in the industry has me hopeful.

    Wolfenpride: <--Giant fucking sword syndrome.

Probably cause im trying to compensate for miniscule manhood.

So back to the subject. Everyone seems to be hell bent on why you want to play this game, or why not. Then there is of course the QQ the game is not coming out because DFO hasn't released any other info.

Sorry back on track.. just praying that these forums won't COMPLETELY turn into the mass chaos like on the official forums... shutter.
Here are some reasons why you SHOULD NOT play DFO:
    1. If you never truly tried PvP, or better yet you prefer PvE. You will loose your gear, you will die many times, you will be camped and the more you whine the more you will die.

    2. You are a pure soloist. While this is still sorta plausible, the lack of guild and invitations to epic fights will leave you bored

    3. If the words WoW, WoW clone, AoC clone, etc. come to your mind when thinking about DFO..

    4. If you are one of those gamers who gripe about how hard something is or how OP a skill/spell is.

    5. If you want to Bot.
I am probably missing many reasons, but feel free to correct me.
On the other had you SHOULD play if you:
    1. Enjoy games like Shadowbane, or played any other MMOs just because the PvP was fun.

    2. Enjoy hate tells, and QQers more than anything, just because it is fun as heck to kill em.

    3. Will go out of your way to find gold farmers, hunt them, see who they talk to, who they group with and promptly begin a kill list.

    4. If you are willing to play a game based on guild ruled politics, spying and backstabbing.

    5. If you are absolutely sick and tired of the trash that has been produced in the past several years by "MMO" makers.
Please feel free to correct me if I missed any as well lol
I'm camping you , lurking in the shadows, waiting for you to get a hand full of items.... and laughing at your hate tells and frustration.

2 is why I may not play...

I just really don't have the time to devote to a guild, at least the kind of guild I want to be in.  If they had something like WAR, where you could joing a public group(like Warband); then it would really make me feel alot better about it.  This game isn't set up like that though.  The factions are controlled by the players, not the company who develops the game.

I guess it really depends on how good the gameplay is.  If it sucks me in like some other games of the past, I may cut out a little social life and devote a little more time to the game.  It would have to be damn good though, and I really don't see it being that good at this point.

I guess no matter how many times I say this.. it won't sink in until the new gamers get a chance to actually play it.  Since the world is built for solo players.. you aren't going to have big groups around.. the only big groups will be a guild that pisses off another guild.. they'll be fighting and that will be it.  Other than that.. there will be very few people running around in groups.. the game lets you go and do what you want.. there will be so many people crafting and harvesting and exploring alone.. that so often, you'll only encounter a few players at a time.

There aren't going to be a whole lot of raid-style dungeons with epic loot.  Most of the stuff in the game will be killable by one person.. because of the fact that you can't get the type of loot that will make your ridiculously strong, because someone will come along, kill you.. and stash it away.  All of that stuff will become novelty items and they'll just be sold and purchased by collectors.  No one is going to be running around in magic armor, only the stupid.  Everyone will be running around in GM crafted player made gear, because it's going to be the best bang for your buck..

Can you guys please figure it out.. I know a lot of people haven't played a game like this.. but at least sit back and think about it, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that stuff out.

Except for of course he told all the kids not to play. Meh they would have quit soon enough anyway. If you guys are planning to play to gank kids and QQ's man are you all gonna be bored. Maybe you all shouldn't play? Maybe I'm wrong but i don't think the line of people saying "I want to be ganked again and again so I can send hate tells and QQ" is really all that long.

I'm just will be lurking in the shadows, trying to be there the moment you will be laughing to jump on you, backstab you and get a two handfull of items...and of course i'm not going to laugh, just fade in the mist.

Back on the topic, i agree with you on most of the reasons about playing or not the game.

My main reason: 4. If you are willing to play a game based on guild ruled politics, spying and backstabbing.

Hehe what happens when gankers get ganked.

Some can handle it better then others but as a general rule everyone thinks they be the ones doing the ganking and not so much that they'll be the ones getting ganked again and again. Should be interesting to see how well the twitch based combat works and if there is much lag.

This is contrary to what developers have said many times.  There will be a lot of dungeons for group and raid pve content, much of which will be strewn across the continent in the form of randomly created npc outposts and cities.  The more risk, the more reward.  It has also been said that weapons and armor from such content will provide you with a sizable advantage.

I believe the intention of DFO developers is to prevent a situation found in games like WoW and EQ where when you have high end gear (especially "PVP tier" gear like in WoW), you wont then become nearly invincible to others who don't have gear of the same quality.

Side note: I don't know how many times I was crushed in WoW by players with pvp tier gear while I was wearing full pve t5/t6 gear aquired from raiding.  If you can't even compete against players in pvp with the best pve gear, think about how rediculously hard it is for others to compete with common weapons and items.  This is what DFO is trying to avoid.

Which is the condrum. You can't have a "sizable advantage" while at the same time keeping the balance such that a few players in their newbie gear can still kill you as Aventuirne claims. We'll see how it works out in another week but it does seem pretty hard to have it both ways. Course some of that depends on ones idea of a "Sizable advantage".

    We'll see man... :P

I completely understand about the loot too. If you did get something really nice, you definitely would just put it back. People will be wearing common gear, in general.

SB, was like this. So yea, i understand it!

The only problem I have is getting rolled by groups of 10 or so, constantly. If I can't make some progress, then there is no fun to be had. If the only way to survive is to have a guild, because guaranteed groups. I just don't know if I'll have the time to invest. That is really my only concern.

Supposedly the world is huge, from leaks that has been said too. I guess we'll have to see how much of the world is populated with PC's and if there are enough places to skill up some so you can compete somewhat.

Holy crap dude, you are going to play this game with the sole intention of getting off on giving other players a crap time?

If that's the player-base of Darkfall then you guys are welcome to it. Have fun... or as close as you can get while you spend your whole time screwing over everyone else at every opportunity.

Here is why i have hope and will give it a try

I'm tired of leveling really tired.......................

I’m tired of gamers failing to be gamers. I play across many platforms and the general mmorpg gamer has ruined the experience. There are two clans of gamers those who work make lots of money and play to hang with friends, these are also your typical UO MMOG and D&D book players. Magic the Gathering the card game excels in it mass following and cash expenditure to play serious cash.  We all have a friend who has a thousand cards and can put a deck together like anything.

The other is I’m paying you have to give it to me now. These folks thinks everything must be handed to them and they are entitled merely because they pay their sub, it is these gamers that have ruined the genre yes ruined the genre

I’m tired of being boxed into a class truthfully it never made sense to me I am bleepn priest so somehow I can only carry staffs and if I did expect to take that hammer to bash your face in at full health if that even happens any more I might expect to have a negative multiplier on my healing. This is fun

I’m tired of gamers treating the game like its a damn trophy you going to carry that sub forever serious the only way I carry a game forever is if there is a reason. WOW lost at BC and killed even more with the WOTLK I don’t want to hear that raiding crap either when you earned the original tiers people will tell you the difference was felt it was a mini badge large raiding groups has always brought stability to a mmo but if you failed to learn how to comingle you became frustrated. Storm peaks in wrath was horrible east to west forty dam times. Do you think any game could bypass the damn leveling and focus on content exclusively? Wow was great now its dull maybe Darkfall will bring some old school rule sets back! I’m tired of the auto shot

Most of us including me are capable of breaking any dungeon raid content aside with any hybrid group period.

Dark fall may or may not fail but either way its sounds fun it sounds good It sounds worthwhile it sounds free and really mmos have been out for over 10 years don’t you all think it should be more engaging by now I mean its 2009 we all have 360 and PS3 can you say you are  satisfied with the level of mmo competency you may be but I’m bored and tired and I hope Darkfall provides some light.

Finally Ill leave to all of you awesome pvpr’s and ffa types, where I live there have been many occasions where crime has been committed on one civilian to another in true PVP theory and I only say this to you pvp folks who think you are GOD I have never heard of people jumping their way out of sudden death or performing rapid 360's around a true aggressor and surviving. Nor have I been driving down the street and been able to pan 360 zoom out and catch the  rear of my car while I'm driving. REALLY?

Why should a game be any less entertaining if I’m going to sit there and pay a sub every month

I say this If you are confident in your pvp skillz lets test your that theory of yours

Get a paintball gun make sure it has a large CO2 tank an added benefit and give it to your friend.  Make sure to wear goggles and protective gear and head outside and test that theory of rapid jumping and extreme spinning.

I want to destroy as many guilds (multi-game clans especially) as I can.  I plan on infiltrating guilds, turning members against each other, and watching guild leaders cry as their best laid plans burn in ashes around them.  I'm going to have lots of alts baby, your tears are like sweet wine to me.  I will sow dissension and fear, I will bring much suffering.  This is REAL politics, this is REAL PVP.

Guild Thieves, Scammers, Scally Wags, and Griefers of all types, it is time to bring those who are weak and need strength in numbers to their knees.

If you don't like players like us, then you little guild kids better start raiding in WoW where your guild is safe.

WOW had problems for it's first 2 years with hunter-bots.
You think the darkfall team is going to be able to do what UO and WOW couldn't do ?  heck, these guys can't even figure out how to update their webpage.

Its pretty much a given there will be scripts and macros in no time in Darkfall.....Just about every skill based game (other then Eve really) is filled with many of these kinds of programs......Most skill based games are anything but skill and really just a matter of running some scripts to max out the players stats.

Doesn't that take the away from a good chunk of the game though?  Why pay to play if you are not even going to play the game???

So that you can more quickly grow your e-peen and be a ganking god, and talk smack why else?

Here are some reasons why you SHOULD NOT play DFO:

    1. If you never truly tried PvP, or better yet you prefer PvE. You will loose your gear, you will die many times, you will be camped and the more you whine the more you will die.

Have YOU even truly played a full loot PvP game? It is only fun if you are the one ganking, which apparently from your posts is ALL you want to do. It is a flawed system that was replaced in UO and will eventually be replaced in this game when it turns into Shadowbane's mindless ganking.

    2. You are a pure soloist. While this is still sorta plausible, the lack of guild and invitations to epic fights will leave you bored

Yeah you definitely never played UO. I rarely even played that game in groups, and if I did it was only with a couple friends at most. Rarely were people running around together.

    3. If the words WoW, WoW clone, AoC clone, etc. come to your mind when thinking about DFO..

This is just a retarded statement, it doesn’t really mean anything and I’ve never heard anyone say anything like this. It IS, however, an Ultima Online clone.

    4. If you are one of those gamers who gripe about how hard something is or how OP a skill/spell is.

    5. If you want to Bot.

4 and 5 go together, as said before, skill based games are the most prone to botting. You think you are going to stop botting by “removing them” on your own? And because everyone will be botting, most people won’t have to complain about the skills being hard.

On the other had you SHOULD play if you:

    1. Enjoy games like Shadowbane, or played any other MMOs just because the PvP was fun.

This game is F2P, if lots of people actually enjoyed this game it wouldn’t be free and a wasteland.

    a. Enjoy hate tells, and QQers more than anything, just because it is fun as heck to kill em.

If you actually enjoy pissing other people off you never did and never will meet in real life, you are rather sad, pathetic, and you should consider getting a new life. But that's just my opinion on the matter.

    3. Will go out of your way to find gold farmers, hunt them, see who they talk to, who they group with and promptly begin a kill list.

Yes, people don’t like gold farmer. This applies to every game.

    4. If you are willing to play a game based on guild ruled politics, spying and backstabbing.

You can do this in ANY game if you want to. This is not part of the game, this is your own personal roleplaying. It holds no basis to DFO alone.

    5. If you are absolutely sick and tired of the trash that has been produced in the past several years by "MMO" makers.

This is the only think I can agree with, and only sort of at that. I don’t think all the current stuff is trash, just MMOs are moving in a different direction that we all hoped.

    -----------------------------------

Shame on all you would actually AGREED with this nonsense list.

The only main problem with darkfall, apart from "will it ever be released" would be one guild dominating the server and just steamrolling every other player for loot, with little risk involved in having a huge party running around, since there is no "criminal" penalty, exemple you wont be able to enter NPC towns without getting attacked by guards.

And since there is no real way to stop someone who has already grown ,it will become a huge problem.

Darkfall interests me immensely from the first time I heard about it... though I must say I'm quite a bit fearful of it being too laisez-faire....

I'll wait and see. I hope they did put enough negative-feedback mechanisms in there to prevent it from going critical mass and ending as a newb ganking wasteland ("no crying in the red circle" anyone?) with the Goon Squad unchallenged master of life and death. EVE is touted as the best "free PvP" game but it does have 1.0 space and a constantly growing universe that enables constant growth. EVE is not a zero-sum game like Darkfall is supposed to be.

I am guardedly skeptical at the moment. All the idealism in the world cannot guard you from base human nature. We'll see. If there's anyone wishing the great Darkfall experiment to succeed then its me because I do believe that this is the general direction MMOs should advance to. We'll see.
