I'll wait and see. I hope they did put enough negative-feedback mechanisms in there to prevent it from going critical mass and ending as a newb ganking wasteland ("no crying in the red circle" anyone?) with the Goon Squad unchallenged master of life and death. EVE is touted as the best "free PvP" game but it does have 1.0 space and a constantly growing universe that enables constant growth. EVE is not a zero-sum game like Darkfall is supposed to be.
I am guardedly skeptical at the moment. All the idealism in the world cannot guard you from base human nature. We'll see. If there's anyone wishing the great Darkfall experiment to succeed then its me because I do believe that this is the general direction MMOs should advance to. We'll see.

Being skeptical is the best way to view a new MMO, and waiting a bit after launch to play could be a good idea, there will be a TON of bad critisism after launch because the game will not be for everyone.  The first month will be fairly chaotic until the player base regulates itself.  This will be the critical time imo.

Human nature.... that is what will make this game great.   No bounds, no limits, but hose who cross the  lines will be turned on.. hmmm no i wont kill you if you irratate me enough... i will, however stalk you till i find you home... i will takes yours as mine and burn it to the ground

and to answer the carebear trolies, no it is not my enjoyment to go around greifing everyone..  but if i find a tasty target, and he/she sends me hate tells, or whines... i will make them my Bi^(%.

"This is the only think I can agree with, and only sort of at that. I don’t think all the current stuff is trash, just MMOs are moving in a different direction that we all hoped."

we are not firing you.. the company is just moving in a different direction...  sorry lol that made me chuckle a bit

Play the game the way YOU want, not the way you are told.

So back to the subject. Everyone seems to be hell bent on why you want to play this game, or why not. Then there is of course the QQ the game is not coming out because DFO hasn't released any other info.

Sorry back on track.. just praying that these forums won't COMPLETELY turn into the mass chaos like on the official forums... shutter.
Here are some reasons why you SHOULD NOT play DFO:
    1. If you never truly tried PvP, or better yet you prefer PvE. You will loose your gear, you will die many times, you will be camped and the more you whine the more you will die.

    2. You are a pure soloist. While this is still sorta plausible, the lack of guild and invitations to epic fights will leave you bored

    3. If the words WoW, WoW clone, AoC clone, etc. come to your mind when thinking about DFO..

    4. If you are one of those gamers who gripe about how hard something is or how OP a skill/spell is.

    5. If you want to Bot.
I am probably missing many reasons, but feel free to correct me.
On the other had you SHOULD play if you:
    1. Enjoy games like Shadowbane, or played any other MMOs just because the PvP was fun.

    2. Enjoy hate tells, and QQers more than anything, just because it is fun as heck to kill em.

    3. Will go out of your way to find gold farmers, hunt them, see who they talk to, who they group with and promptly begin a kill list.

    4. If you are willing to play a game based on guild ruled politics, spying and backstabbing.

    5. If you are absolutely sick and tired of the trash that has been produced in the past several years by "MMO" makers.
Please feel free to correct me if I missed any as well lol
I'm camping you , lurking in the shadows, waiting for you to get a hand full of items.... and laughing at your hate tells and frustration.

    Shadowbane sucks and always has.

If you couldnt hang with the 8man in DAoC rvr you will be fish here in DF to.

I didn't read all the pages, but a good reason not to play would probably be if you don't like the whole ffa pvp scheme. I personally prefer the rvr system like daoc.

It is suppose to have friendly fire too right? Not something I am looking forward to, heh. I will probably give it a try when it eventually comes out, but as a person mentioned before, I also tend to solo quite a bit now because I'm just limited on time. That and as I stated, ffa not really my favorite type of pvp, heh.

This is contrary to what developers have said many times.  There will be a lot of dungeons for group and raid pve content, much of which will be strewn across the continent in the form of randomly created npc outposts and cities.  The more risk, the more reward.  It has also been said that weapons and armor from such content will provide you with a sizable advantage.

I believe the intention of DFO developers is to prevent a situation found in games like WoW and EQ where when you have high end gear (especially "PVP tier" gear like in WoW), you wont then become nearly invincible to others who don't have gear of the same quality.

Side note: I don't know how many times I was crushed in WoW by players with pvp tier gear while I was wearing full pve t5/t6 gear aquired from raiding.  If you can't even compete against players in pvp with the best pve gear, think about how rediculously hard it is for others to compete with common weapons and items.  This is what DFO is trying to avoid.

You bring up something that I don't understand about Darkfall.

Based on the facts we have to date as I understand them, there will be no "epic" loot, they want skill to matter not gear. Almost everything will be player crafted. Everything on your toon can be looted when you die. That's fine.

Every few days there are complaint threads about full looting and how it won't work and what not. Then some people try to explain that gear is easily replaced so it's not a big deal. In a FFA PvP game expect to be killed many times so having to replace your gear each time will keep the crafters busy. I'm cool with that too.

Then I hear the term "risk vs reward" thrown around. This is where, to me, people start talking in circles. If all my stuff is so easily replaceable then what am I really risking? At the same time what can my reward be for leading a large raid in a dangerous dungeon if the crafters are mass producing equal quality items? Maybe it's something that is aesthetically better?

Now you're saying that dungeon gear will provide a "sizable advantage". This is actually contrary to what I keep hearing on these forums. I thought gear was only going to provide a small benefit. The people who want gear to give them an upper hand often have the slogan "Go back to WoW" thrown at them.

I'm not taking a shot at you or the the game, I'm just trying to wade through some conflicting information.

I have been questioning this as well.  From what i hear it is a process in itself just to loot somone, no lil "Loot All" key.  This falls back on the realism the game is trying to incorporate (much like friendly fire).  Your skills and your stats make you a better player, viable maybe, but not everyone will be created equally lol.

Dungeon loot being "sizable" in its advantage, we will have to see.  I would think that epic mobs would drop rare crafting materials or jewels to make good armor.  .... it will be interesting to see.  If there are some absolutly pristine gear in DFO i can see a bunch of people asking for "SoulBound" or "NoLoot" stats.  hmmm if they had a VERY limited amount of those items that would make it interesting, or not... who knows.  we will find out soon... lol maybe.
