I guess I'm just slow..  But lets look at the facts via event lines:

Nov. 10th..  next phase of beta. ( for a game that's been ready for at least a year)

-- This was meant nothing.  They were opening more servers for more testers.  How is is the relevant now?  If one server can hold 10k users.. and they opened more servers.. but have LESS than 10k users.. Why does this matter (it's not retorical.  Would someone tell me why this matters?)

Begining of Dec. . END of open beta.

-- This NEVER happened  There has yet to be an OPEN beta.  It's a very very important thing for a company to have some sort of STRESS test for the servers.  bots cannot accomplish this.

Sometime in Dec... Release date

-- Fine.  The date was pushed to Jan. 22nd.  But note: The game is READY for release on the 5th of Dec. Per Tasos.

Dec. 25th.. ONE! beta key for one lucky forum user at mmorpg.ita. 

--For use with the PRESS BETA happening in EARLY january (like EARLY december's open beta??)

EARLY january--Press Beta.. still not happening.  The Press.. Gathers information to report to folks like you and me.  Even with an NDA intact, a press beta wouldn't have ot adhere (or they wouldn't have to sign) a document saying they couldn't say they were in Beta.

OPEN COFFEE -- Nothing happened here.  Just an event to prove that Aventurine is a real company, and that Darkfall is a real game.

 

 

What gives?  I dont' knwo how any one can honestly expect them to release the game on Jan 22nd, when they have yet to hit ANY date or timeframe posted...

Well according to the leaks everyone in closed beta says the game is finished and ready for retail and cant see a reason why they would delay further.

have you thought about the other things that need to be setup as well, like billing system, account system etc etc plenty of out-of-game things to setup.

True enough, setting up an MMO is serious business.  Still not convinced the folks at Aventurine really understand this business.  They have till the 22nd to confirm one way or another.

yeah, launch is 7 days away, and i cannot foresee this game coming out any time soon. They have no billing system setup, no distribution, no customer support, and according to the "leaks", there are still functions which have not been enabled or put in yet.

Pulling another dark & light, bet a pre-order page goes up a few days before release and then they sod off on hoilday.

Good points, and as far as im concerned if nothing is posted in terms of news before the end of the week, then Aventurine making release doesn't look to hopeful. We're all in the dark anyways so who knows what could be happening behind the scenes. Just hope for the 22nd, if not then shit, that sucks!

Im not the type of person to flame any one.. yet alone a game.

 

But you would have to be bonkers to go out and buy this game when its out without seeing anything..heard anything..

with all the things missing.. and with no news .. some thing just seems really fishy..

 

Either its a clever ploy and want gamers to feel a fresh experince without testers saying everything about it.. or.. its dark and light verison 2.. and to be honest..the graghics look horrid anyway..

 

i hope im wrong and this game does well.. we need a new mmo that is worth while..

OT- I agree I want to know at a min where the client dl is. I can figure out if my comp runs the game after I have it installed. I can't however do that with out the client.

Seriously?   What beta-leaks have you been reading?

 

The vast majority of the leaks I've read talk about how many Features aren't even turned on yet.

 

But yeah, I'm sure they've already tested those Features and just want to keep them a surprise...

I understand that after MMO releases like AoC, and to a lesser extent WAR, MMO players have been very cautious about new MMORPGs. However both AoC and WAR had a significant anti-game campaign against them before each game went live. It may be that keeping Darkfall information limited is a way for Adventurine to prevent malicious posting prior to release

It GREATLY tarnishes their already horrible reputation (Aventurine) by not sticking to their own schedule, and not explaining why they aren't sticking to their own schedule.  You'd figure after the POST AoC debacle, honesty is a better policy than silence.  In the wake of a game like Dark And Light, a game that Darkfall resembles in maket share, Darkfall has a lot of ground to make up.

Yes I can sort of see your point.  Not sure I agree 100% but if you don't know anything you can't complain about anything except not knowing, which just makes you look like a spoiled brat.

That doesn't really make an excuse to not have a stress test.

The OP is worried about the fact that they only tested the beta on a lot fewer people than we actually should see on a server. He have a good point, opening up a server for 10K people when you only tried it for 500 could turn really nasty.

I'm not so much worried about it.  There are a lot more things in this world to worry about.

But, this company really needs to stop misleading the public.
