Well according to the leaks everyone in closed beta says the game is finished and ready for retail and cant see a reason why they would delay further.
Friggin fanbois... You point my ass to a leak I did not see back in 2006, and I'll give you a goddamned donut...
That statement is like modus operandi of every darkfall blind believer I know.
Im not the type of person to flame any one.. yet alone a game.
But you would have to be bonkers to go out and buy this game when its out without seeing anything..heard anything.. with all the things missing.. and with no news .. some thing just seems really fishy..
Either its a clever ploy and want gamers to feel a fresh experince without testers saying everything about it.. or.. its dark and light verison 2.. and to be honest..the graghics look horrid anyway..
i hope im wrong and this game does well.. we need a new mmo that is worth while..
I totally agree with this guy...Only a Idiot would buy this game on faith it's going to be good. How many games have been a disappointment the last few years. I'm done throwing cash to shitty MMO companies who release games half finished/buggy as hell.
Just try thinking on a technical perspective...MMO's require several months to iron out all the kinks...such as server stability and computer hardware compatibility.

A pity, Noktaris. I am disturbed by your lack of faith! And you will pay, in the name of Tasos, for your lack of vision!
What's the point of a press beta then? Just adding more beta testers? Oh.. and the fact that MMORPG.com (THIS VERY SITE!!) hasn't yet received a beta invite (even though they did do an interview with Tasos, thus provinng that AVENTURINE does consider this site worthy)
How do you know this with such certainty that you are able to make this claim? It is not uncommon for the press to given info and to be told it's not to go to print until a certain date. I'm not saying that mmorpg.com is in the beta I'm just wondering where you get your information from.
In all these issues of press embargos someones safey was at state.
BREAKING NEWS:
Darkfall is not life. If Darkfall gets released by the press.. NO ONE IS GOING TO DIE. You can't set up an NDA with the press. It's sort of contridictory.
Also note... in those instances, it wasn't about an impending release. The information was reletive to something of the unknown (Hmm.. how to explain or make simple.. ) The situations were .. REALLY important (guess that works)..
I can appreciate people being anxious/eager/excited about the impending launch of a game they've probably been looking forward to... No knocking that, I've been there myself.
But no matter how much I've eagerly awaited something and *so* wanted it to be everything I was hoping for and more, I kept a degree of skepticism about me that it could end up being nothing what I expected.
That concept seems completely lost on some people here. They're just throwing themselves 110% at everything and anything Tasos has said, hanging on and swearing by his every word like they were handed down from God themself. And if he hasn't said it himself, no problem, they're saying it for him.
If he says something and it doesn't happen (ie. when he said it would definitely be out inside of 2008), they either pretend he never said it at all, or somehow twist the meaning around to be something not even close to what he actually said.
I've seen people already putting forth possible excuses, in case it doesn't launch on the 22nd, just so they can continue faithfully defending everything and anything Tasos has said about the game.
I mean, if you've never played a MMORPG before and haven't gone through the routine of following development, getting into and/or following beta, and so forth, then I could understand how the way they're handling this doesn't seem so odd.
But if you've been around the block a few times, and then seen the way they're handling this? No way. Red flags as far as the eye can see. And that's not "hate talk", so don't even bother going there. It's called looking at the situation for what it is, not for what I want it to be.
Frankly, with some of the comments here you either have to be completely unfamiliar with the typical development -> test -> release (and that's highly simplified) routine or willing to believe anything as long as it's what you want to believe.
Seriously.
The game very well may somehow launch on Jan 22, and be in a perfectly playable state. Given the precedent set, time and again, by developers in the past who weren't prepared enough, odds are more and more against it with every day that goes by.
Have your high hopes for the game and all... But leave some room for skepticism, too.

But why put up an embargo 8 days prior to release? The press doesn't charge to publish stories. Tasos want's free publicity.. why not give someone an exclusive (this will generate MUCH hype).. I guess they did that with MMORPG.ITA.. but given the majority of the market is in the US (no MMORPG market, jsut DF market) it would make sense for an american website to have access.. Ya dig?

If this was the case how would I know? You would have to ask the devs. I would note though that it isn't releasing in US so if there was publicity I would expect to see it on European sites.

You can expect any serious, self-respecting press institution to honor the codes of conduct of their trade. It's simple business prudence after all.
of course the game is going to launch on-time. I fully expect this will happen and have complete faith in Tasos. You may ask yourself... "Well, yourself..... How do you know this?" And yourself will answer AIbots. AIbots to distribute. AIbots to run customer service. AIbots to finish programming the game. AIbots to run servers. They have over 9000 AIbots working right now in beta and more are being added everyday which will make this game the best ever.
And in times where Tasos cannot deliver the good word, there is an AI-bot understudy named ALBOT. For who can doubt the Son of Tasos?

That "Tasos" ..........he's got the shit going on doesn't he?
Word on the AI boards is that "Tasos" himself is an AIbot. The "Tasos" we see on all the videos is just some guy they found at the homeless shelter and cleaned up.
I think the question we need to be asking ourselves here is "Who exactly they are ......"
have you thought about the other things that need to be setup as well, like billing system, account system etc etc plenty of out-of-game things to setup.
True enough, setting up an MMO is serious business. Still not convinced the folks at Aventurine really understand this business. They have till the 22nd to confirm one way or another.
Really you get one shot at release to impress your customers.......In general for me to consider buying a new game I need alot of information on it or I have to beta it.........Darkfall is offering neither......In that case they will lsoe out on customers like myself and many others.......It could be the greatest game ever but the way they have gone about this is just terrible.......It seems like the game is either hiding alot of bad things or Aveturine is jsut plain bad at marketing its game and understanding how to do it right.......Either way they already have 2 strikes against them and the game hasnt even been released yet........Darkfall almsot has teh feel of an online scam (send 50 dollars to such and such webiste and well send you a copy of the game hahaha).........

Best ever, until those same AIbots gain free will and rebel against their human masters. AIbots can't be bargained with, they can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear, and they absolutely will not stop. Ever. Until you are dead. Judgement Day is coming.

LOOK OUT! The sky is falling down!
LOOK OUT! The world is spinning round and round and round!
LOOK OUT! The sun is going black,..black
LOOK OUT! It's never never never coming back,
LOOK OUT!

$OE - eternal enemy of online gaming
-We finally WON !!!! 2011 $OE accepted that they have been fired 2005 by the playerbase and closed down ridiculous NGE !!
"There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." Raph Koster (parted $OE)
look out! Darkfall will probably not launch the 22nd and people will still make excuses for them!
Damn so we will have another month of people complaining about a white border on a web site ...
Best ever, until those same AIbots gain free will and rebel against their human masters. AIbots can't be bargained with, they can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear, and they absolutely will not stop. Ever. Until you are dead. Judgement Day is coming.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
I was waiting for the awesome rebuttal.

If this were a cartoon, the announcement of launch would be pictured something like this. We all know how THAT ends.
