Wait...so a game that was suppose to go live this month does not have the servers setup and ready to go to handle  200K of people.  When did they think they would have the time to set these things up and get them running.  After people bought the game and tried to log in but failed.  That is sad sad sad.  The hardware should already be there and setup if they were planning on going live this month.  Instead they knew the date was a lie and continue to string people along.

... and the people keep on a-following along, faithfully without missing a step, spinning and dancing around the hard facts the whole way.

Someone nailed it perfectly early in this thread. To paraphrase...

For some people here, no matter what Tasos says that proves to be untrue, they'll just keep standing there saying "more, please".

For a while now, people have been saying there's no way it'll be ready for the 22nd, listing various indications. The faithful have argued at every turn that it would be, citing "beta leaks", "what Tasos said" and "media coverage" as proof, among other things.

Turns out what the so-called "trolls" said was correct - the game was not ready to launch on the 22nd, for several of the reasons they've cited...

Suddenly all those who were insisting it would are saying "Well, duh, of course they shouldn't release it if it's not ready. I would rather it be delayed than play an unfinished game"

    I mean... Hello?

A week ago some of those same people were insisting it wouldn't be delayed at all.

Can't accommodate 200,000 players on their servers in a MASSIVE multiplayer online role playing game? *raises a brow*
    funny

lol.  i guess whoever wrote that doesnt realize the extremely large majority of mmorpgs never even get that many subscribers (i.e. 200k is actually a significant number in mmorpgs).

Im just willing to bet the whole thing is fake, along with soc alled beat leakers, for all we know its this guy called Tasos doing those blogs.  A week till another launch date, and another exuse.  Very very strange.  Now I really thik, nobody can be called a troll when saying anythign about this so called game.  Im willing to bet, its a big joke that has just got way out of hand tbh.

The creator of "The Noob" is in on it too then.  I really don't think she is faking her play time.  Furthermore, its not even remotely surprising to me that they cannot handle 200K players in their beta.  Try to remember that this is a beta, and thus they are making NO money at this point.  Do you people have any ideal how much money it takes to buy, open, and operate a server cluster large enough to accomodate 200K players without crashing?  Lets just say millions, and leave it at that.  No, I don't suppose an indie team has millions to throw away on some beta phase like Blizzard or Mythic would.  A smart business move would be to use that money ONLY when the game is released...so that you have income moving into the account at the same time you are moving it back out for more hardware.

Yes, big companies can do this well in advance, and even afford to run the servers for 3 months before release.  Big companies also have 250 man teams and 80 million dollar budgets to play with.  I seriously doubt ANY indie team has even half that to pretend to use on a project.

Actually. Whoa. I don't think she is faking her play time either, but her previews stopped at 7. Note: Previews. She even stated that there were many things/features turned off. She reported what she saw, and she seemed to do so honestly. I don't think she is in on this fiasco one bit. It also amazes me how you made this point in your first sentence, backed off from it in your second, then went off to something else. As for the rest of your statement, this is now a PRE-order game with no guarentee of trial before purchase, and given their record for giving people access, so far it is miserable.

Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside

    Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.

You do know that thenoobcomic.com is hosted on Aventurine servers right?

For all you know it could be Tasos himself posting those

    Yup.

Pretty much the reason I'll be taking a break from these forums for awhile.

If some of us skeptics had posted what Tasos did today we'd have been laughed out of the forums as the biggest Trolls in the world.

We'd have been assured that Tasos and Aventurine would NEVER post such a thing.

Yet, here it is... and as predicted the... "Thank-you, may I have another" responses.

Our hope for Darkfall is to have a good game with a tight player base that we can nurture and steadily build up.

This is the telltale sign. Unlike every other game in the history of gaming they are going to control how many people they let into the game.

Let me guess, no one will ever hear from these players. Just like we don't hear from beta testers.

How do people keep falling for this?

it thickens more, I posted over a week ago as to who is listed as the owners of the Aventurine domains.......drum roll.......Razorwax, the supposedly defunct company that "merged" with Aventurine 6 years ago and declared bankruptcy around 4 years ago.

Strange how they are still listed as being in Oslo when they "moved" to Athens to merge.

The Aventurine.gr servers normally traceroute to Amsterdam NOT Greece. Though sometimes they traceroute elsewhere and show up as chached virtual servers on the hop out of Maidenhead UK. That sort of implies that the servers are on a dynamic dns therefore they really don't exist as physical equipment.

Can't wait to see an 18G download from a bunch of virtual servers .

Well back to the popcorn to continue watching the latest MMORPG trainwreck....the destruction of Dark-n-Fail.

I don't know the whole history of Darkfall, since I'm really only interested in trying the game out, don't care about the fanboi/troll/whatever stuff. I heard it was close to Open beta, so I started paying attention to it, trying to figure out where to download the client and stuff to get ready.

but this is starting to sound somewhat shady....
