This forum have always have its lowmarks, but there have always been prople with the ability to form sentenses and discuss features with.
Right now it seems as if all the people that couldent found anything meaningful to talk about before have somehow gathered here.
To maybe in some way, to try and get back to track (yeah!, its a MMO forum) we could sum up what have happend?

I have nothing agenst the good "old school" trolling. But some of the trolling here right now is only creepy!
The point is thats its only MMO. How can people that not about to play it....care so much. I would never go to a forum for a game, if im not interested in playing it. You wont see me at the WoW forum for example (if its not a general question). Even though i have some pretty strong view about the game.
Boredom.
Humor.
Rediculous facts presented on both sides so you can laugh at those who present them.
People who try to make sense but end up failing.
People who kinda make some sense, like the OP (if you're going to make a thread called "Did the IQ drop here or something" then try to scratch out those spelling errors, they detract from your genius

There's a ton of reasons to be in a MMO's forum before launch. Those are just a few. Frankly, there's only a few real "trolls", though the fanbois have been so defensive that they assume everyone who is skeptical is a troll. I'm somewhere in the middle I think, after joining the Order of the White Border.
Edit: It's not so much that they "care" about the game, they're just taking the negatives (and unfortunately there seem to be alot witht this game) and running with 'em.

Why would anyone preorder this anyways, maybe after the "trial" and you saw it was okay, then yeah. Will the NDA still be in effect for this "OPEN BETA LAWL"?

IF Tasos had merely said they were doing another delay... you are right... it wouldn't have been nearly this bad.
A couple things I think you are glossing over:
Another delay is announced about a month from the last time they announced a delay. Why didn't they just go with a Q1 2009 Release date back in December when they made the announcement of the Jan. 22nd date? That would have saved them this mess in the first place.
Tasos has made statements before that once they commit to a launch date, they will be sticking to it. Well, so much for sticking to your word.
Tasos waited until a week before the Release date to make this announcement. He didn't know the stuff he put in that update weeks ago? As soon as the holidays were over... everything he announced would have been more than evident. Why wait another 2 weeks before announcing it?
Tasos has said before they didn't believe in doing pre-orders. There's that so much for your word thing.
They aren't simply changing their mind. They are doing the exact opposite of what they had said before was their PHILOSOPHY of game design. They went against what was one of the main selling points for many fans of this game. This game up until that update could claim they WERE doing it differently. They WERE flying in the face of convential wisdom. They WERE for the gamer, and not the just the money.
The "free trial" will remain a myth for the vast majority of players. IF it was meant to be a true "free trial" he wouldn't have needed to insert the word "thousands" into the statement about it. I guess I'll at least give him credit for admitting that majority of the users won't be seeing DarkFall before the Release unless they decide to pre-order.
Nope. They've flushed away any claim they had of being different. Now they are just a below-average MMO developer who doesn't seem to have a clue how to get a MMO out the door.

I think a lot of the new people that are posting in here now is because of Tasos' past statements that a lot of people here on mmorpg.com read.
This update he just posted pretty much invalidates most of what he said in his interview with Jon just a month earlier.
Then there is also the article that Jon created about the update which attracted a lot more non-DarkFall regulars.
It all adds up... the DarkFall forums will be seeing an extra dose of negativity of awhile. It'll die down after the 22nd I'm guessing.
Unless there is another bomb-shell to be announced.
The status of the NDA on the 22nd will be the tipping point if I had to wager.

i was a fanboiish too until they literally stabbed us in the back and took back PROMISES. They went against their "philosophy" I call that this game, if it doesn't just plainly suck at launch, will just be a holdover until MO ( a game being made by a company that's not half brain dead), nothing more.

Personally, I blame the Grey Border.
If they were selling wind the checkpoints above would still apply. Point is after so many years in the making, and so close to launch, there is a HUGE information gap between the final product and what the community knows about it. There is enough inconsistencies with Aventurine over the last few years to make the case for the worst: ie. there is no product, it's all wind.
Call it trolling, that's your right.
If it makes you feel any better just imagine the kind of time one must invest to become a Darkfall troll, and then laugh to yourself because somebody out there hates a game they know little about (not that anyone knows much about it) is spending hours looking for posts that they can yell in, and when there aren't any good ones starting threads about how everybody should hate Darkfall with them. It always makes me chuckle.
On a side note it isn't funny when darkfall fans go to forums because well, they are interested in discussing what it will be like when they play it in the future. So good luck on your crusade to disuade those of us who don't really care that Darkfall is delayed or that there will be a pre-order. You can try and paint it like an apocolypse but in reality it doesnt matter very much at all. I don't want a pre order, so I won't get one, I probably wont even play until there is a USA release. Now is it the end of the world if other people are playing while you are waiting. These types of skills are covered in pre-school.

You know that if DF supporters stop posting here it isnt a 'victory' for you right? You havent cgnaged anyone's minds, and you havent saved the genre.
They are still fans of the game, and will still play it, they just get sick and tired of arguing the same old constant crap with the same old morons who are only here for the fight.
They realise there is no point in debate when the 'debate' isnt even about the game anymore, and hasnt been for a long while. They realise thats it's better to just post elsewhere while they wait for the game they want to play to come out.
MMORPG.com need to hammer the outright trolls out of these forums tbh, seeing as it is very much a cited offense, especially with posts like these being thrown up.

There are a notable number of rabid fans that now are starting to question what Aventurine is doing. They have not been driven off as the main official boards have seen their share of hard questions from veteran members of the past couple of days.
The question is why can you not see this? Has your faith in the game blinded you to the realities of the past few days? Perhaps you want this game so much that you choose to ignore the events going on around you.

This recent news has just hardened my skepticism of the product's quality. Sure, they said there will be a "free" trial, but not everyone will be able to try the game before they buy it, unless they allow for a free trial after release, too, which to my knowledge, has not been confirmed. Worse, in my opinion, is the fact that those that preordered (which they said they wouldn't be taking) are getting preference for acceptance into "open" beta (I prefer the term "stress" test, in this situation.. not exactly an "open" beta). If they've so easily reversed their company "philosophy" so easily, so close to release, it's only normal to question the other things they have stated. I'm still hoping it will be a kick-ass game, but will I be preordering? Hell no.
I'm still going to try and get in on the stress test/trial, but I have a feeling it will mostly consist of the hardcore fanboys, along with any others that happen to preorder. My feelings of doubt could still be very wrong at this point, only a small number actually know, but I think those that still have pure blind faith in this game, without the least bit of doubt, are the only ones that might of suffered an IQ drop, after the recent actions of Aventurine. If they drop the NDA before release, and confirm that there will indeed be some type of free trial after the release date, many of my doubts would probably be extinguished.. Like always, concerning Darkfall, we'll have to wait and see.
I don't think the fourm is any worse only the level of stupidity that is this supposed DF launch.... actually given that this delay is pathetic and pre orders are going to be used... people are being quite restrained.

Yes, I want DF to succeed very much and will definitly play it if the Free Play throws up good reviews from sources I trust, but the teenage BS around here is retarded.

That the game has been delayed to improve the launch, and there will be a Free Play for us all to look at and judge the game for oursleves, with the option to pre-order if we choose based on that? I just felt that nothing in the DF feature list have changed, its still the same sanbox MMORPG we have waited for. As long nothing changes i will wait for it.
So narrow down all my thoughts: If its a good game, i will play it. No matter what delays, news, pre orders, servers, open beta and so on. Thats it. Nothing more i can say about that.
