FC improved AOC a LOT. AOC works fine on all my computers now even on my IMAC . You'll find plenty of players everywhere. At launch it was catastrophic, unplayable, full of bugs, FC worked hard .
Right now the game is sooo plagued with cheating and exploits i would avoid at all cost. Lots of people have great rigs and still have all kinds of problems, and the ones who say they don't are Norwegians protecting their Halmark company (think about it, what else does Norway make that has any noteriety?) .
Anyways if i were you, Id forget all about the AoC and get Crysis or Fallout 3 (with real DX10) and rock those games at max settings. If you just want eye candy (and there is NO other reason to bother with AoC) then go else where for that, or play a tried tested and true game that looks great (like Eve). If you want gameplay just about any other mmorpg is 10 times better than AoC. There are a million other games that will show off your PC's hardware better than AoC, perhaps not mmorpg- but why invest the time in a game that is virtually broken.
AoC is dying a slow prolonged death. FC is the joke of the gaming industry (true story) The people who are asking you to try it must have no taste, or alternative reasons to promote an overall bad gaming experience by any"real" Gamer's Standards.
i dont think you know what you are talking about. no mmo is s10x better than aoc. all mmo's have their faults and fun. For example, wow has the shittiest pvp ive evr seen.
And yet they have 12 million paying subscribers.
Tbh I am tired of listening to clueless people. PvE in WoW is among the greatest, and statistics back it up. WoW is the most polished, fluid and dynamic MMO to this date. Never ever have I seen a game that keeps people coming back and play more so much. It is simply the example for all other MMO on how to do things right.
Either way, popularity doesn't make something good, Michael Jackson has sold more records than Iron Maiden, doesn't mean for a freaking second that he is better (another example is more people play those arcadey casual games more than real games, but they are in no way superior) . In terms of polish, I have to agree, WoW is very well polished, better than most MMORPG's... in my opinion this is it's only good point.
But all it's really done is copy+paste from every other MMO, then dumb it down to the point where breathing requires more skill.
About PvP though, it sucks in AoC AND WoW frankly, the only game where PvP has ever been good would have to be DAoC. Warhammer is just a WoWified (a.k.a dumbed down) version of DAoC and sucks due to it.
Although I prefer Maiden, Michael Jackson is a phenomen, they are not. I don't beleive there will ever be a band or singer to be even closer to his success. So kinda opposite to what you said.

The Beatles and Elvis have both outsold him, so you can believe what you like, you're already wrong.
Michael Jackson has the best selling album of all times. So what are you talking about?
Overall the Beatles and Elvis have sold more albums, though Micheal does have the best selling album.
It's more successful to sell more albums overall than selling a single album the most.
But, once again, success (WoW) doesn't mean making something great (AoC hasn't achieved greatness), it just means you've found a way to make something excessively popular.

Storyline is nice and interesting (destiny quests), the game is beautiful, music is beautiful and community is mature. Servers are really alive, I can see people everywhere.
I just built my new gaming rig, and it could totally beat the recommended requirements for this game's ass. I was thinking that if this game got any better, I could go to it from WoW. It's getting kinda old now ahah. So yeah, lemme know the current condition of the game is please. Thanks!
all you can do is give it a try for your self, i wouldn't ask a serious question on these forums.the "in" thing to do here is flame everything and anything.
i tried it at launch got bored very fast within maybe a month, was really bored one day about a month ago resubbed for nothing better to do, and have been having alot of fun.now will it hold my attention indeffinitly? no idea only time will tell. but if i keep enjoying it like i've been i've got my money's worth.
the servers seem pretty packed no matter what time you're on, i work 3pm-11:30 pm get home lil after midnight and there is still a ton of people on.can't imagine how it is during peak time and can't say how it is at those times.i play on tyranny and set so can't say how the other servers are either but all are listed as medium at midnight.
The game is going pretty well considering and is definitely on the road to recovery... but it's never going to go places Funcom wanted it to.
Tyranny (PvP) and Cimmeria (RP-PvP) are the only really active servers, personally I suggest waiting till server transfers to try AoC out. For an MMO the game is much faster paced than what you are used too, if you want to PvP I hope you have good consistant ping .

Vikings and Black Metal.
If you have not heard of either of these things, you should get out of the bubble that you've lived your life in.
it's not that I haven't heard of them; I couldn't care less about them (like most people)
Beside the point, I've just answered your stupid question.
I probably should of replied to your bawwfest about unbalanced classes and exploits (which plague every MMO), or your rant about the only reason one should play AoC is for the graphics...
Even if you are a fan of Low Fantasy, REH, Conan the Cimmerian or Action RPG's, you should still play lamecraft?
P.S If you dislike AoC so much, how come you spend all your time flaming in the AoC section of these boards? Don't have a better MMO to go and play?
P.S.S Also, what has Canada done that has any noteriety? apart from being funny characters on South Park. You're really just America's shadow.
Yes I know, it what everyone hears on the AoC's board by the Norwegian fanbois--"GTFO and go play WoW "(lolz)
I come here to tell the truth about this game. because other gamers (you know...the ones who have taste) may appreciate the opinion of someone who isn't a Norwegian.
As far as Canada's contribution to the world; it depends on what category you are asking about? If it's gaming, well EA and Rockstar all develop a lot of games out of Canada made by Canadians. Walt Disney recruits it's artists out of Montreal. I could talk about musicians or movie stars, like Celine Dion, or Mike Myers. James Cameron is Canadian. Our contributions during WWII right up to Afghanistan. I don't mind being in America's shadow as you say, but know our economy is one of the strongest in the world right now, because we are also a petrol nation. I could go on, but you are just trolling.
I don't come on here flaming anybody unless they are asking for it...im just telling it how it is, but like on AoC's boards...if you don't praise AoC you are instantly considered a troll (and Im fine with that too)
Funcom is arguably the worst company in the world when it comes to releasing their mmos, but they are also among the best when it comes to picking up the pieces. They did the same thing with Anarchy Online, and now they are hellbent on fixing AoC, and I must say it's going well, if AoC had been released today it would have been a welldeserved hit.
There are times after playing a session of WoW that i think of resubscribing to AoC (played from early european start till lvl 52, assassin).
The only thing that keeps me atm from doing that is when i read their official forums (i have been following the game since i stopped) i can still see that some of the issues that made me quit are still there (mostly regarding the state of the assassin class and the frustrating bugs/problems the class had).
I would like to hear from you if u have any past and recent experience regarding the assassin class and any feedback if those bugs that constituted the assassin class a broken class in AoC are gone.
How come people start mixing in nationality into who says what etc? It seems like everyone who support funcom or say something positive about the game instantly gets labeled as a Norwegian fanboi, and I find that rather funny. Yes I'm a norwegian, but you won't find me amongst those who are proud of Funcom or AoC. I do consider AoC to be a good game, but some months ago it wasn't. Mixing nationality into a discussion is perhaps the mosts tupid thing I have ever seen, it shows a lack of logic and understanding the world around you.
And who cares what a country has contributed to the world? If you look at each country you will find all of them in one way or another has contributed, it doesn't make 1 country a better country. I struggle to see what nationality has to do with this discussion in the first place, it's not like all Norwegians thinks funcom are gods just because they are Norwegian, but that seems to be the new way for people with less IQ then a rock to claim on these boards these days. Is it that scary thought that people from USA actually could like AoC too?
Yes AoC did suffer from lots of issues, but the game is improving by each patch, it's far from perfect yet. The truth about the game is seen differently in different people. While you seem to dislike the game, the truth inuyour eyes are that the game sucks. I do like the game I don't have a problem finding bad things with it, just like I can do with WoW. There isn't a truth in MMO, it's all about personal opinions. What you like the other guy might hate and vice versa.

Well it's called being disingenuous. You and I both know that most of the fan mail comes from Norway, and people should know that when they see people highly recommending a game that has a user approval rating of 1/10 (which is on this forum 1st page as of now). I don't want to see real gamers go through all the hassle of dealing with a broken game. They should also know that people like the chump who wrote the post linked below has to go running to fellow Norwegians for help when AoC suffers a bloody nose.
You and I both know that most of the fan mail comes from Norway
After trying it out, 4 of my norwegian friends stopped playing AoC, and most of the popular newspapers in norway called AoC a failure week after week. You could say they were doing what was to be expected, but I didn't exactly see any norwegian fanboism with regards to AoC. Quite the opposite...
Originally posted by Blackwell99 I don't want to see real gamers go through all the hassle of dealing with a broken game.
That's so sweet of you to do that! Even though it's not broken any longer. What dedication
I recently came back to AoC, and what Avery says is truth. AoC has rock solid performance now. If you are looking to test your rig, Dx9 would probably not give you much challenge since even people with shoddy rigs these days run AoC on high. Anyways DX10 should give you a good challenge. I recommend this game. It's fun.
Is it possible to run DX9 AoC on max (not dx10) with a 4200+ am2 x2, 2gb ddr800 and a 7900gtx? I can run the high res version of Lotro easy on max with ultra high textures etc... Cause when the game just released the game didn't even run smooth on medium settings Also magazins didn't get it smooth on less then a dx10 card...(www.gamestar.de/spiele/wertungskasten/rollenspiele/43278/age_of_conan_hyborian_adventures.html look under 'wertungskaste' for a system spec)

Thats rich,
So you don't notice all the Norwegians coming to the rescue. You admit you are Norwegian yet claim the game isn't broken. I don't want to have to write the huge laundry list of broken aspects of the game because it has been wrote a million times before. It may not be as broken as before but the skills and class balance are broken. Most instances are also broken, crafting, animations....etc. Never mind the tons of exploits---the list is never ending. Im not even going to mention the murder system, which isn't broken but is so poorly designed that some may call it broken and i wouldn't disagree.
But let me guess--you are now going to mention all the things FC will do in the future. If they told you they will turn water into wine in the next patch I bet you'd believe it. (although they'd probably just make it worse)
Next you'll start tell me how guante is gone and craig is some kind of God.
Oi vey. Listen my stance is this. If FC fixes all the mentioned bugs and brokeness and doubles the size of the small world. Gives me 2 months of free game time for compensation for all their lies. Plus make instances non-social (because that's weaksauce). Fix Dark Templars, and subscribes to punkbusters or some other anti-cheating software, and add more armour sets that look good...I'll give it another go.

In what ways are AoC broken? It was bugged beyond belief in the start, it crashed, content was crap. The current situation of the game is that it isn't broken, stability is a lot better, the quality of content is better, but it does lack slightly on content to do if you are a PvE player. For PvP players there is enough content to keep you occupied for some time. Also why do you care if people want to test a game? You sound like a hater of AoC that wants nothing but the game to die. People are in charge for themself to decide wether or not to try the game, you claim AoC is broken, so please tell me what is broken. Does the game have issues still? Yes it does, not all is working like a dream but it ain't broken. And most MMO's I have seen have taken 6 months+ atleast after launch to actually become good.
You know because if people don't recommend a 1 out of 10 game that is broken and full of cheaters and exploiters-they are trolls (lol-too funny)
There is a difference between being a troll and not recommending a game. If someone asks me if I would recommend AoC for them the firtst thing I ask them is what do they look for in a game. If what they want in a game isn't fitting with AoC I tell them that. Different people like different things, and for me to tell someone that they should play AoC or not would be wrong, I can give them pointers but they will have to make the decision thems self. A troll will do all he can to spread neagtivity about a game, any chance, any oppurtunity he gets he will use it. If you tell someone you wouldn't reccomend the game to others and you use as argument the game is broken or it just sucks then I consider you a troll as you have nothing valuble to contribute with. To become a troll you have to focus solely on the negativity and not see anything else.
Cheaters and exploiters are a issue yes, but I saw those in WoW too, I saw them in SWG too. People will always use cheats or exploits if they can gain a edge over others, sopecially in competetive games. I played FPS mainly before I started with MMO's and that genre does have cheaters today. no matter punkbuster or not. but they are rarer then before. It could be because most cheaters got tired and moved on. Darkfall will have exploiters and cheaters too, because in that game you will loose gear when dying, and the exploiters will do anything they can to win. since they are lacking skills to fight properly.

It should be possible, I wouldn't expect kick ass graphics tho as your system isn't good enough for that. but you would be able to play the game on medium settings maybe.

AoC is a good game, but still lacks endgame content.
Merges are already complete, the character transfer is now under progress.
with this every char gets 1 free transfer until some date in february.

You know because if people don't recommend a 1 out of 10 game that is broken and full of cheaters and exploiters-they are trolls (lol-too funny)
After trying it out, 4 of my norwegian friends stopped playing AoC, and most of the popular newspapers in norway called AoC a failure week after week. You could say they were doing what was to be expected, but I didn't exactly see any norwegian fanboism with regards to AoC. Quite the opposite...
That's so sweet of you to do that! Even though it's not broken any longer. What dedication
It is preferable not to travel with a dead man.
