If the game was in trouble after release, and needed, say a million dollars within 30 days or it will close down... how much would you chip in to keep it going? Remember: this is niche community, so we all have to do our part.

Sorry, but no we dont! We are meant to be the customers. It is not the customers job to save a dieing company i'm afraid.
If you go to your local grocery store, and the lady at the checkout tells you "excuse me, but we are going through difficulties, can you give us an extra X dollars please?" would you do it?

What would you do if that store then closed down and you had to travel extra miles to the next one, and then they closed down as well because of your greed? Unfortunately, we only have one Darkfall. Don't blow it.

If they were honest from the start i might think about it. But AV if they asked it would almost be like they knew from the start. Un fortunately friend this is what people have been talking about when it comes to lack of respect for customers...you dont get it unless you give it.
I want DF to succeed but am really dissapointed with AV's efforts and they have lost a lot of respect from me....they need to release a solid game now to get it back.
No one has to earn respect from me. everyone single person i will ever meet will start with respect.....it's up to them whether they lose it or gain more!
roflmao
errr no.....
they would be lucky to get $15 from me a month
I am...having trouble typing...all the grocery stores...around...m-m-m-y house....closed down be-be-because...Darkfall has yet...to...re-release...if only...I hadn't....thrown away...that extra...thousand bucks...maybe I could f-f-f-ee-feed...my fam.............................................

I don't have words to describe your arguments there Venomous. Call me greedy then, but i sure hope they rot and go to the bankrupt vidogame company hell, maybe in a next life they will know that lies dont pay off

Oh wow. We're already starting to see Funcom levels of anger and bitterness being directed towards Aventurine for their business practises, and the game hasn't even had a chance to release yet. Time to break out the fire extinguishers, things are only going to get hotter around here...
I guess the old saying is wrong. There is such a thing as a stupid question.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
Nothing
Everyone who pre orders will already be donating money to save Darkfall.
Only if I get a double grape kool-aid (hold the ice, please)
DarkFall FAQ - Read then Question with Boldness
Why would they need money?
Everyone knows the preorder alone will at least triple their company value.
-Darkstar
Shit, no.
It's a business and they deserve a hard time if they are not able to deliver their product due to "unexpected" cost increases (bad business plan then).
This.
I'm sure if it was a matter of life or death and donation would guarantee release, some people would be willing to subsidise ridiculous amounts of money. That's how badly they want this game to succeed.
no i rather use that money on powerlvls kthxbye and it wouldint help to donate since darkfail will fail terrible no matter what
Donate??? Sure!!!!!
Here
this should keep them going for a few more years
Iiii-iiiiiit's.... me!!! *Hooray*
I hope those that voted for the $1000 donation are just messing around.....

First of all paying a resonable price for reasonable service instead of being milked for a companies incompetance is not greed. Other indie developers managed to succeed by thier own merits(CCP etc) why should we make Tasos and Aventurine a charity?
Second there are other MMO's like MO that promise alot of the samethings that DF does so the whole "OMG if Darkfall doesn't survive we're all doomed!" Line is pretty silly.
PR in and of itself is not rocket science (or should i say computer science?) If a company is clueless and stupid in the basics of PR chances are they are not computer geniuses either. Point being we aren't "blowing it" if Darkfall fails its Aventurine and Tasos who blew it.
I've got some dog shit and rocks I could donate; that's just as good as money to farmers, which is what they probably should be given how they fail at everything else.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
I know this thread IS a joke, but was it meant to be?
Letting AV rot will provide me with more entertainment for many weeks or even years to come, and i will have a new company to quote together with DnL, VG, FC, Mythic etc.....
RIP Orc Choppa
Heh. I'm old enough to remember the last time someone said they needed a considerable amount of money in 30 days or they were going to be shut down. It was a scam then, and it would be a scam now if Aventurine tried to pull that.
Once a game is released, the market takes over. It either sinks or swims based on its own ability to attract paying customers. Why should anyone donate at all? Either it's a viable product, or it isn't.
Sad part, 10,000-50,000 are about to donate money to save DFO regardless. 50,000 accounts is about 9,000,000 EURO a year never having to expend with new servers and more costs. No surprise they are going on the cheap with a one server limited release thing. The sad part is, a lot of guilds are going to pissed when they have members that can't get in the game because it is sold out.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Omg that was a good one, thank you for the laughs.
