After finding this quote in another thread, i was reminded of how much some of you people are crying like little babies. "We've dedicated our resources to development, knowing that our game can compete a lot better than our publicity can. Once we've shown what we can do, I believe that what we say will make a bigger impact." -Claus Grovdal
So lets get a few things cleared up, i know it wont stop the crying as most of it is just a way to troll aimlessly, but maybe it will open a few eyes.... 1) Aventurine has made some rookie mistakes by announcing multiple development timelines that they have failed to meet. Obviously they should have kept quiet unless they were 100% positive. No one will argue this. 2) You, YES YOU, decided to follow this game prelaunch. You have not invested anything in DF. 3) Aventurine has every right to not tell us anything until the game is ready for purchase, yet they still take the time to keep us in the loop. 4) Them failing to meet announced dates is NOT lieing. 5) They don't "suck at PR"...they made a choice to not dedicate their resources to it in the same way of other MMOs that have spolied us with lots of info prelaunch (most of which have failed miserably).
The only thing that you have a right to judge Darkfall on is the finished product on release....that is it.
Now you may judge aventurine on its business decisions all you want, but they are very different things. Tasos being a little overzealous does not mean these guys dont know how to develop a mmo. And if you want to debate Aventurine's business decision to not do a lot of PR, go for it, my arguement is that for the last few months they have been at the top of this sites "unique hits" every day and their beta signups for a game with a small audience seems to show they have the word out, even with assuming a lot of people just sign up for a free game.
What you mean besides being full of crap every step of the line? Aventurine is a shit company. They couldn't meet even a tentative schedule if they tried and 90% of the things they've said, when the deign to provide anything other than simply evasions, have proven to false, misleading, or simply nonsensical. Even judged by the abominably low levels of competency expected from MMO companies they're substandard. If by some miracle they actually produce a moderately sucessful game I'll applaud them but I'll never hold hem up as a shining example to game developers anywhaere. Seriously develop some perspective.
but the fact is, Blizzard delayed WOW more than once, and for longer than DF, WOW cut out more features than DF, and Blizzard gave bugger-all actual info about WOW prior to release.
It's just a bunch of clueless teenagers who don't know their MMO history whining and overreading what they actual say.
Blizzard had an open beta with no NDA and every feature of WoW was not only known but had been publically reviewed in the press months before release. I've never heard of any feature cut from WoW that was listed on their website list of features. WoW was delayed once. The delay was announced weeks before the rough launch date. The game launched on the day of the finalized launch date. Development time was less than four years. The short development time was due to the game using large parts the already developed Warcraft III graphics engine. Your clown shoes are showing. Care to guess my age sparky?
Well they didn't "cut" anything but there are things they didn't get in until the last expansion. I don't remember when those came off the "things we wanna do list." I do remember they pushed back battlefields and they were no where near like what they had talked about. Once again I can't remember how early in development they were talking about this.
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.

The money that buys a product goes to the company making the product. The product and compay are not different things, they are connected. Money is where consumers make themselves felt by companies, particularly companies that act in certain ways.
Aventurine and Tasos have not been worthwhile examples of how MMORPG developers should interact with the community. There are other MMORPG developers who have moved away from the arrogance and secrecy that we've seen in the past. It would not help the community to see a return to that.
There are those who don't care about that as long as they get what they want in a product. That's fine, that's what happens in a free market. But a company and the company's product are not seperate things. Products are impacted by the actions of their company all the time, that's also what happens in a free market.
As it's been said Aventurine made their bed, now they get to deal with it.
A video game company that treats it's consumer base like dirt and takes ages to release a 2nd rate hunk of crap. It's like me slapping your mom for not being in the kitchen making me a sammitch. But you would show me respect for it even if you didn't agree.
If people are gonna praise a game this much(Not just Darkfail), for all pedos that play games and are as recessive as the Darkfail player base they will be juicy little meals in prison for Bubbah. No lip while there polishing Bubbah's knob.
When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?
I'm more interested in this part: "What will be charged is an initial 2.52 Euro non-refundable payment to activate the process." In other words, if you purchase the pre-order and decide to cancel it, you'll still lose that money because of this strange activation fee. What exactly do they need to activate?

On the DFO website it says that a VAT rate of 19% is applied to all EU residents, that'll bring the price up to 49.98 Euroes!
I think because it is a Greek company we have to pay VAT at the Greek rate, rather than 15% in the UK and whatever it is elsewhere.
ATM 50 euros = about £44
