Is there anyone at all who is enjoying the MMO they're playing?

I'm just curious about this, it's a serious question.

I haven't played nearly as many MMOs as some of you here. Only EQ, AO, WoW, and AoC. And the only one I ever played more than 5 months was AO (which I played for years). But that game and it seems all old games as well as new games have poured into the same exact mold of either 'WoW' or 'crap.'

Point in case - Darkfall. This was a game I was looking forward to, and so were a lot of people I knew. I've literally watched every beta video posted on youtube or on these forums, and I have to say, YES, that is a valid reason to say the game sucks and shouldn't be bought. All that hype and hope for a game different than WoW to move on from the corrupted old games and the crappy new games down the drain. For pete's sake, look how long the NDA lasted...They must be really pissed at the beta testers! The game isn't even out yet and they've already lost money, lol.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't think WoW was such a bad game. But you can't help but be totally pissed at how much it has utterly destroyed originality and change in MMO development.

So I'm seriously wondering if anyone is enjoying the MMO they're playing right now because I'd like to hear suggestions. I'm tired of wasting time and money on games that just become WoW clones or low quality deviations from that.

I have been enjoying Aion as well as a little SCHThack PSOBB on the side.  Keeps my mind occupied and that's all that matter I guess.

Yeah, but unfortunately it looks like SWTOR isn't coming out until at least 2010.

At the moment I am back into testing games. I'm testing one which has pleasently surprised me. Lotro was one I truly enjoyed but dropped out due to massive work load during the summer. Lately I am back into WOW just for kicks and to meet old friends. Cant hurt as cheap as it was to get back in.

My biggest worry is the crop of mmorpgs which are coming out from the smaller Indy companies. A few I am testing are amazing games when you consider what they deliver from such small teams. Sadly with as polished as some games are compared to the indies I am not sure they can survive.

Albeit I have to admit if AO could survive, then maybe the ones I am playing can. Hell, its using a genre barely anyone uses hehe. Well anycase just hold your breath. Eventually one you mite like will come out.

I am actually REALLY enjoying both of the MMOs I'm playing. EVE and LOTRO. I love LOTRO for the story and the exploration and EVE for the sci-fi setting, math and calculations invovled, and the risk you take whenever you play. Although EVE can get quite boring when playing solo, I recommend LOTRO for solo play (although some quests do need a group).

Although EVE isn't for everyone, and to run LOTRO at full you need a pretty hefty rig (I have a 285 GTX oced, quad core proc, and 6GB of RAM to highlight some main components and I run about 60 in Bree all the way up, on heavy loads (with lots of models being rendered) I usually run 45). But they are both very fun games.

EDIT: Just looked, as I was typing looks like someone else posted the same two games.

You can always look me up on the Elemandir server on LOTRO under Telthalion (Guardian) and Telron (Warden). And as Jordaniel Torey on EVE.

I've been playing Guild Wars since early 2006. I'm definitely not having as much fun as I was in the beginning, as I've done just about all there is to do and now I just PvP, but it still provides far more entertainment than basically anything else I've tried so far.

The day Guild Wars 2 is released is that day I rejoice.

Here to say I am enjoying eve as well. Is anyone playing eve and not enjoying themselves that were not part of BoB?

Besides that I am about to try RoM this weekend so we will see how that goes.

Enjoying Aion for the last 2 months.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

After playing WoW for nearly 4 years and hating the last 2 years of it, I can honestly say that I am having a lot of fun in Guild Wars and City of Heroes.  IMO, they're both great games that don't require a hefty time committment to have a good time playing.  EVE is also a fantastic game, but once I get going in EVE, I can't stop.  :)

EvE. I hate EvE. Its a maddeningly frustrating game of an insanely large scope. Can't stop playing it.

I am currently enjoying WoW (North Rend) its a place holder currently untill Aion reaches the states. Unfortunately Aion cannot release fast enough lol. Im considering switching off and on from WoW and Gamefly to keep me occupied in the mean time.

I am actually quite enjoying World of Warcraft right now.  It fits my schedule perfectly and does not frustrate me with needless crap.

Bored with Warhammer here. Played EQ1 and 2, Lineage2, DAoC, AC2, SWG, and prolly a few more. I am tired of looking and hoping for a good MMO.

Is EVE really a decent game? Been thinking of trying it but dunno since the 25th is nearing. Been wanting to try Darkfall.

Currently playing EVE again. I have quit before, but I keep coming back to it. There's just nothing else remotely like it where MMOs are concerned.

I've played my share of MMOs by now. I've seen a lot of crap, ubt also some real promising things as well. After all the things I've seen from Darkfall, I'm sure I won't bother to try that one...

Back to the original question... Do I still enjoy playing what I'm playing now? Yes of course (what's the point playing it if you don't like it?). But...

I've played Lineage II for almost 4 years. I think the game is still great, but servers are getting low on population -> Not real active now...

I started out with EQ2. The game is nice, but after thedump of 60TB, I canceled my subscription...

Right now active again inLotRo again (have lifetime sib, so no hurries there). Game is excellent from the PvE & questing aspect. But I kinda miss PvP there (I hate monsterplay for sure).

The future..? I'm waiting for Aion and TERA. I think both are very promissing. I might also give Mortal a shot, though I don't like the 100% FPS feeling (makes me sick most of the times, though Eldar Scrolls didn't)

I'm playing Wizard101 right now and enjoying it.  And I do mean, I'm playing it right now, as I type this, not merely that I'll play it later today.   The game rather lends itself to multitasking like that.  It's not as good as Guild Wars, but then, no other game is, either.

You should ditch XP and get Vista instead. LotRo is worth it for sure! The DX10 makes the game even better then DX9 (I was realy amazed when I reinstalled LotR under Vista).

On my system (see siggy, 2Gb of 533Mhz RAM), I have a modded ultra high setting and it runs very smooth. Then again, I'm running 1600x1200@85Htz. I think that on lower resolutions I can handle complete ultra high settings

really enjoying lotro at the moment. The pvp is a bit basic, but it can be fun for a quick blast now and then. The pve really shines though. Classes are nicely balanced and varied, and the questing is well scripted, with plenty of story behind everything. Pretty good depth to it aswell, and lots of side things to try, like crafting, exploring landmarks from Tolkien's works, and all the role play bits too, like playing music or just hanging around smoking pipe weed. Just offers so much content there.

Vanguard is going great.  It's a wonderful game, just a shame there aren't enough people playing it right now.

I'm still loving LoTRO. I'm a PvE'er and Soloer and it's just the perfect game for me. Plus, I'm an adult and like the ppl that play LoTRO- very mature and kind crowd.

I been playing it since Jan of 07 and only hit a speed bump once. I maxed out 1 HUnter within a few months and got disgruntled. So, I rerolled and made 5 new toons and decided to craft all my own gear and be self sufficient.

That did the trick- a year and a half later and I happily log in every night and have TOO MANY frigging things to do LOL!

I'm so glad I thought to reroll with a full 5 girl crew. It made me go outside my comfort zone of "only playing Hunters" and I fell in love with the other Classes I tried. I never have been an Altoholic in any game I have played till this one. But they made their Classes very well and it just behooves the players to try them. They are all potent in their own way and that's rare in a MMO to have such strong Classes all across the board.

    Safe travels,

    Lori

Well, resolution matters. I run at a modest 1440x900. And out of a full Bree, I run 70FPS easy. Really easy. But at peak times on Elemandir (a pretty populated server) in a full Bree (or a freaking packed Esteldin!) I pull 60 FPS. I can't do DX10 though with the new drivers, I get screwy shadows then I crash. If anyone has a fix, it'd be awesome.

EVE is fun, the risk is really what makes it fun. That and the socializing. The local and global politics are actually are fun, it's almost like living in a world. With the realtime skills, if you biff up there's no undoing it. Your name is tarnished.
