YES! I recently returned to WAR and still love the pvp, and the pve is as fun as anything i have played.  I should note i recently quite playing WoW (gawd what a load off my shoulders)  I also play RoM from time to time and that's pretty fun (except to all the dailies-too WoW like)

So yes i truely enjoy WAR very much... no complaints

im digging all the mmo's im playing atm actually.

guild wars:  having a great time here.  paragons are fun as hell

WAR: rvr is great.  pve is kind of a lacking and the glitchy animations kinda bug me.  but im having fun.  that flying dragon animation seriously needs to go and they need to fix combat animations though.

lotro: just started the trial.  so far, its the best first impression an mmo ever made on me since anarchy online 2001.  really surprised i like this game so much.

wow: i can never get enough warsong gulch.  i love me some pvp.

    Games i'm playing right now...

I think most people who are still enjoying the MMOs they're playing continue to play their MMOs over logging on forums to talk about how bad certain titles are. :)

Link Realms is hella fun, but hard to get into.  But I've REALLY been enjoying Runes of Magic, as it is the first game I can play with my step-dad that runs smoothly and has PvP that doesn't cost us a total of $30 a month just to do so.  I want to try Ryzom, as my Sandbox loving self is not satisfied currently and I've heard good things about it in that respect.

This seems circular reasoning.  If I do not enjoy the game, I will not log on.  Money is spent, monthly sub already deducted from my credit card.  Loggin on to it and feeling upset will only compound the losses.  So if I do not enjoy that game during that moment of my life, why log on.  Lots of other things to do.  Sleeping is one, no kidding.

After noticing how my sister's baby behaves in front of the screen, I suddenly realise how I should approach a game.  Do what I like and ignore the game design.  This is a short recap of what happened around a year ago.

The baby is the star of the house, everyone loves him, he is free to roam everywhere and screw up anything.  He walked into my studio one day, and look at the screen.  So I show him the simple 4 arrow key movement mechanism and the jump key (space bar).  He started jumping and for days he comes in just to jump, effectively taking over the PC for minutes.  He laughed.  Then he noticed fire on the screen, water, animals.  He talked, he discovered new things everyday, he discovered the new buttons of control, he giggles, he smiles.  That is his game.  He never finished a quest, he never visitied the bank, the AH, he never fire a fireball or swing his weapon.  But you know what?  He giggles everytime he plays and moves off when his interest wanes.  He enjoys the game for as long as it pleases him.

That is how I play my games now.

Funny, I read this hoping to find something new and a lot of folks love Eve. Well, I played Eve for like 4 years but I just got tired of it, it was more of a 2nd job than fun. But that said I've never had so much fun playing a game in my life and I've been playing for a long, long time. Everytime I thought I'd figured out everything there was to know about Eve I'd find something I'd never thought of before, and get into a whole new area and it was massive fun, and a lot of work. We had huge engagements lasting for DAYS, no sleep, up all night, etc. Then I'd get out of that and into the many other things going on that didn't require so much work. You don't have to do the high stress stuff so much.

Problem was though a lot of the economic stuff was mostly out of Jita, and so it was never ending terrible lag in that system. Yes, you don't have to do it in Jita but if you watched the markets often that special item was for sale only in Jita, like a faction large tower at a good price. So playing the market + Jita = sucked.

Eve is worth a look for anyone who loves games. Just take it slow and relax and you'll do fine. Although my entire guild followed me over from Earth and Beyond, and after two weeks out of 45 people only two were left, and they didn't last much longer. So it's not a game so much for the Pokemon crowd.

One thing about Eve, it reminds me a tiny bit of the original Ultima where you could actually really be a thief.  Now don't hijack this thread talking about how wonderful the original Ultima was, but I never had so damn much fun. Eve allows you to steal and it's a big part of the game. Spying, too. I was a spy for several major alliances. I did a few corp thefts, really huge ones. I ran a few scams. And I did all the good things, too. I did it all. It was a blast. Even being a lowly ore theif was fun. Then of course you could hunt down Chinese "isk" farmers and kill them, that was a noble cause as well.

Not true.  Enjoying a game does not mean playing 24/7 till I faint.  I can play for a while on and off, and enjoy it while it last.  I can also enjoy dicing the rest of my living moments with something else to do, including bullshittinghere.

There is no conflict, that is supplementary.

I Played DAoC SI to DR. Classic server was a good idea. Now i'm bored beucase DAoC is dead and WoW is really for new mmo'er that don't know what is a mmorpg and how hard it supose to be. WoW is an easy game. I'm playing 2moons and L2 Private low rate server for the moment. I'll give a try t Darkfall and i have 3 week off that start next week so nice timing. EvE is a great game but you need to play with people. All the other mmo are not so good at all. I was very disapointed by warhammer. It was WoW PvP version so. i'm waiting for Aion because my friend can't stop playing it and saying how this mmo is good etc. We will see

WoW did nothing wrong but deliver a much better Everquest experience and to really start off the whole quest based progression thing to which we had quests before but never worked as well as WoW. It also showed the genre how to create polished games and how to do combat and how Art and atmosphere are more important than technical graphics. WoW made the UI's function ALOT better and showed everyone that a game needs both good PVE and PVP to do well.

WoW isn't to blame when it pushed the genre forward.

What's to blame are the developers who're creating WoW clones that arn't as good.

I played or tried a lot of MMO enjoying only few of them. Specifically I played for 3 years AO and left due to the outdated graphics.

I am playing Ryzom since 2004 and I'm still enjoying it. Don't ask me why, I feel at home when I log in Atys.

I am playing CoX, now very casually, and I still have some fun, despite it's repetitiveness.

I'm not going to speak about all the MMO old and new i played for some months or trialed, I just didn't liked them.

But any MMO can be a good game if you have friends to play with.

Been playing Eve for a month now.  The game is more addictive then crack.  I wish I would've gave it a try before the latest round of disappointing titles and saved me some money.

I'm bouncing back between LOTRO, Atlantica and RoM.  I'm enjoying myself for the most part.

im currently playing linkrealms and WoW, linkrealms is really fun (and i think will be amazingly fun when they let more people in and PVP and the economy start picking up)

WoW....well, its just the only game with a seamless world that feels "solid" to me (im a big stickler for the fluidity of character motion)

  • Berrik.FluxBerrik.Flux Member Posts: 41

I'm currently playing LOTRO.  I love the game.  Although I'm not blazing through it trying to reach the highest level.  I'm taking my time and enjoying the story.

I played EVE for years, but now I'm waiting for the end of the year when CCP does walking in stations.  EVE IMHO is the best game I've ever played.  Of course it's one of those games that you either love it or hate it.

I played City of Heros for awhile too and enjoyed every minute of it.  The only reason why I left was because I couldn't stop making alts.  I could never play one character to high levels, I would get an idea and make another character.  If I wasn't such an "altaholic" I'd still be playing it.

I kind of bothers me that all games are considered WoW clones.  There were alot of games before WoW.  Alot of games that I think got it right, long before WoW ever came out.  All MMO's are compared to WoW now only b/c of it's subs.  I think LOTRO, while a copy of WoW only b/c it came out after WoW, took things from WoW and made them the way they should be.  eg. In LOTRO when you craft something, say tailoring, you sit at a workbench and "make it" very nice animations.  In WoW, you just rub your hands together and look off to the side like you don't want to be caught playing with yourself in public.

Just wait, as soon as EVE gets walking in stations, people will start crying "WOW-Clone!"
