I was really looking forward to this patch. It's been on the testlive for months on end and this time I really expected that they fixed things before releasing it. But, after 9 months still the same old broken patches and LAGSPIKES are STILL present. This is actually not true. The lag spikes are gone. If you continue to have this issue, you either need to repair the install, or look to delete the Shader.cache file.
I let my subscription expire so while I can't really say anything from first hand experience, but going by the official board it's looks to me like there are a lot of really unhappy people in regard to the patch. Seems like quite a few people would retitle this thread 1.04 for the LOSS
Everyone seems to be really happy with patch, save the need for some hot fixes,
Trust a known Troll to try and put a negative spin on it. You are fighting a losing battle lol!
Since you dont have an active sub anymore you only have second hand information. And with the amount of trolls/fanboys out there you can no longer put up a valid opinion of in-game issues, time for you to move on dude.
PS:
Out of interest what game are you subbed to ?
actually if you go to the official forums there has been a good deal of complaining. i just checked it out and there seemed to be anyway. i dont know how the patch is from first hand experience because i have not played in awhile but its starting to draw me in. im deciding to play this or lotro. not sure yet lol but this patch does look good

No. They don't.

Come on, when you say things like that, everyone knows you're full of it. One of the biggest complaints against FC is how slow they are to fix stuff.
I'm pretty sure he meant that they had ironed out the lag and server problems this patch introduced. They have a history of things getting borked with a patch, then ironing out those problems in a day or two. (They aren't the only ones, patch day for many titles exhibit these problems from time to time).
Tell that to the folks who play Anarchy Online, they still get random disconnects often and a lotta the Shadowlands zones still cause 'rubberbanding', and that expansion is 4+ years old. A refund? lol.
Simple fact is there are more people working on the game at Funcom now that there were in the same timeline for AO.

You see above there are what looks like two current players and the two past players, the past players are trying to paint a different picture. The Funcom-empire and their propaganda-aparatus continues to work overtime I see. It must be an utter embarrasment for them to see the patch hit the fan this time too. In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king. The one eyed man spots one familiar flaw: the continuing lack of endgame content. What a total embarrasment this game is.

Lack of end game content?
BRC is fixed and Wing 3 is open. Even some of the best guilds are having a challenging time in Wing 2 at the moment.
They just opened up PvP resource harvesting and added PvP harvesting nodes in one of the resource zones.
Thunder River opened up as another PvP end game area but this time without the guards.
Mini games are fixed and populated now.
They added 3 new instances 2 of which are level 80+.
Prepatch count out Aztel Fortress and Scorpion Caves, you can do them pre-80, this means 2 dungeons total for 80+.
"Even some of the best guilds are having a challenging time in Wing 2 at the moment." Must be the quality of the players still active, since we did the server first on the bosses in Black Ring ages ago (Aquolonia EU).
Thunder River pvp boom = just a migration from Keshatta, it will be just as mindnumbingly boring.
Mini-games in AoC = Pre-patch the least innovative maps and dynamics in the entire genre. Patch being minor adjustments to failing ideas. Oh what a dream patch.

#1. I was speaking of Black Ring post 1.04 patch which you haven't done. The encounters are actually fixed and working now. So no more guild exploiting for free purples.
#2. If you're talking about 70-80 pre-raid zones you left out 6 instances.
Slaughterhouse, XIBALUKU, Halls of Eternal Frost, 3 Resource zone instances that scale to your current level (Frost Swamp, Oasis of Zaara, Imirian Ravine).
#3. Thunder River is new, different, and not the only big area for PVP. PvP is spread out now so it's not mindnumbingly boring. You have it going on in Minigames now with the new interface, Border Resource zone, thunder river, and Khesh. So the PvP is very different now. In addition to the fact you now war with another guild in order to challenge them for their keep.
Seems like you like to use the word "fail" a lot.
I find that ironic considering that perfectly describes the disinformation in your posts.

Yet, cannot fix a simple bug like it always being Midnight when players login if they have left Tortage...
Not a happy camper today!
I love this game, but Funcom is grinding my third nerve.
Ok, im going to speak my mind from the perspective of a former 4 year anarchy online customer. i think i know quite a bit about how funcom does things.
Gaute Godager leaving is perhaps one of the best/worst things to happen to funcom. He's an amazing concept designer. I put him right up there with David Perry in the realm of game design concepts. AOC's combat model imho is as signifigant to mmo design as mdk's sniper design was to 3rd person action games.
That said, they made a massive mistake the day they decided to let him fill any production roles of any kind.
You think this launch was bad? You had NO IDEA what a bad funcom launch is like unless you were at anarchy online launch like i was. It was plagued with falling thru the ground, zone crashes, invisible mobs you cant target but can attack you, guild bank bugs that caused massive exploitation and damn near destroyed the economy. I could go on and on for an hour about how completely unplayable that game was at launch. Hell AOC's launch pales by comparison.
Like I said, Gaute was an amazing concept guy. I really wish they would have kept him around in that role. But he seemed to never really be able to effectively make his teams get done what they needed to get done in his role as a producer. AO had huge plans too. The game with thru a couple more game directors before promoting the former ao stratics director, then ao's community manager to run anarchy online. It turned out, that gamble was the best decision Funcom has ever made.
Craig Morrison got more accomplished with his team in 6 months than Marius got accomplished in 2 years. He "got it". He understood what the players wanted. Kept in CONSTANT contact with them. Admitted mistakes, gave his opinions and really held an open dialog with the players at all times. With the patches that were added and the one expansion he launched "Lost Eden" were all gold. I remember being kinda pissed off as an AO fan when he was pulled over to AOC.
But sure enough, just like he did with AO, within just a couple months, it seems all of AOC's players could really feel the change that Craig brought to the AOC team. I just came back after reading post after post of how the game is getting better. I don't think anyone can deny that Craig's done a lot in the short time hes been running Funcom's flagship title.
Just give him a little more time, this guys one of us, and he's worked his way up, proven he gets things done. I say we all give him the time to make AOC the game everyone knows it can be.
That said, im really digging the game, im glad i went nuts buying gametime cards at the circuit city liquidation. A great game at a killer deal is always a good thing.
I can't wait to see what the future holds for this game.
Games i'm playing right now...
"In short, I thought NGE was a very bad idea" - Raph Koster talking about NGE on his blog at raphkoster.com
I would definitely like the mouse/camera issue to be fixed.
That one was easy. Just go in and switch Auto Follow to never
...poof...fixed
But, can't fix always midnight...ugh
I had the same small problem too, straight forward fix.
that would be more correctly classified as a workaround. A fix is for FC to code it so that everything functions as intended.
And it was in Wed. update. Now all they need to do is fix the Midnight bug.
Anyways, I said fix as it "fixed" it for those who had it. Luckily it was just certain mice, but my 360 controller was never affected (guess they really need to get that 360 version rolling)
I think I might have found a bug with this patch. I decided to roll a guardian with polearm just to see how they are. I finally do the last Tortage battle and kill Strom. I talk to the old man and the box that comes up to accept the "mystery gift" which is a weapon. I did not click it in time and usually that does not matter the box is usually up and waiting for me when I zone over into my racial land.
This time it wasn't there. So I don't know what the guardian gets as a reward. I had to look on vendor for a decent polearm. Was a little frustrating.
I don't recall either if Tortage was night time when I went back either.

Weird. I just recently did that myself, and it worked...but then, it was Tuesday...before Wednesdays patch.
Like I said, these little niggles are really problematic and detracts from the major fun I am having..
Stupid really.

This was a small hardware / compatibilty issue. Midnight bug is something else. I found more bugs in MPvP in lotro that night than I did with AoC. Infact I don't find the bug amount any different compared to other mmorpg's that I play. This was difference a while ago, not any more. For some ppl (not all) part of the mouse issues was with certain types of mice.

What? Only ONE major exploit in a patch they were working on for weeks or months? You are right.. that's pretty good. Yay, Funcom!
<mod edit>
BTW they fixed the DC issue within 48 hours and no other major issues have been reported.
Can you say no more Failcom?
Good luck
