There are a ton of democrate leaders who are now regretting this bill (Kansas City mayor, Mark Funkhowser (sp) included).
This bill is a mistake. Only 13% of the bill goes toward infrastructure. That's it. And one Democrate Senator has been quoted "If you do get a job out of this bill it may only last for about 11 months; it's not a permament solution."
I'm a conservative and I can admit the stupid crap Bush did (like passing the first marxist bill)...surely you can't think this is a good idea.

Usually, good news give an instant boost to stock prices because investors anticipate better times and want a slice of the pie. So they invest, and the increased demand drives up the stock price.
If the news about the stimulus package is followed by dropping prices, it means that most investors don't believe in the package. Which might be a self-fulfilling prophecy...

Who would ahve thought the sub-prime morgage market in America collapsing could have such far reaching consiquences. Im afraid it may be as much as a decade before this is fully behind us now and noammount of goverment 'stimulas' aid will help right now untill the banks are fixed and actually start lending money again.

Neither with the way things are going any ammount of money given to a CorperationBankor person will only be a very short term boost. Whats needed is someone to find a way of stabalising the markets then that way such Stimulas packages will actually have a lasting effect. Right now tho all they do is just temporarily delay certain Entitys sinking under.

There's some public sites that gives you an exact breakdown of what's in this "stimulus" bill. And contrary to what the majority of Americans think; very little is actually geared towards the economy.
Here's the best way to describe this stimulus bill:
It's like seeing a heroin addict spasing the hell out (you know flip flopping on the floor and foaming at the mouth) and instead of taking him to a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation center, you give him about 10 Vicaden pills to curb his detox pains.
Just like this bill. It's not a bill to fix our issues. It's a bill to "try" to temp fix a couple things here and there.
Even Vice President Biden say's there is a 30% chance this bill will fail. Yeah, taking a 30% chance (from a lib view) on a almost trillion dollar debt is just plain supid.
It really shows you how out of touch Democrates are. They finally got their chance this term and they are acting like Senior High School cheerleaders who made it on the student body government and could care less about anything else but their own special interests. It's pretty disgusting. And they are using almost a trillion bucks in a marxist bill to have their little ego stroked

Actually, people from the Austrian School of economics predicted and timed this mess precisely. They are, because they are the only people advocating what will work, being ignored.
the good news is that while the politicians and wall street are busy turning socialist, as if more of the same socialist idiocy could ever hope to help this mess, the people are starting to become interested in Austrian economics. Sound money and limited government makes a good deal of sense to people who aren't paid to think otherwise.
Short term outlook: very bad as Obama continues the failed policies of the Bush administratuon, the Clinton Administration, the Bush administration, the Reagan Administration, and so on...
Long term outlook, when everything they try fails, eventually they may stumble on the truth, then everything wil turn around, and we might have a propserous century.

LOL! it not working has absolutely nothing to do with who presented it.. It is a piece of $#$%#! DO you have common sense? Because that is all you really need to understand this concept:
1. The more you go into debt, the less your dollar is worth. So the prices will have to go up for everything you buy, it will take more of your dollars to buy everything, food, electric, water... EVERYTHING.
2. The more the government expands and spends the more money it is going to take to pay for these programs. So your taxes will also be increased not only to offset the value of the dollar, but also to pay for all of this.
3. The increase in taxes, the loss in the value of the dollar, means that every business in this country will be making less money, forcing them to either have to do a combination of things. Reduce labor by reducing the number of jobs and increase prices, though with the way this is now set up where they will also have to pay for retrofitting at the same time, it will put many of our current businesses into bankruptcy or they will just pack up and leave to another country as they have in the past rather than lose their ass.
4. This bill does nothing to increase the value of the dollar, or to provide real long term relief to businesses guaranteeing the people that are supposed to be paying off the current loans will even have jobs to be able to pay these off, it does nothing to help increase peoples incomes that are already in crisis due to the mass layoffs, it does nothing to encourage any long term investing because it makes things more unstable rather than stabilizing them. All this does is very temporarily props things up on some stilts for a little while while taking a jackhammer to the foundation at the same time.

Check out CNBC's House of Cards. I am sure there is a stream or a download for it somewhere.
It explained what was going on in a fairly easy to understand manner. Basically everyone was taking high risk mortgages and repackaging them over and over and over .... until they became low risk and then selling them to lenders. It was basically said if a company was not doing this they were not making money because the applicant would just go to another company who would approve them if they got turned down by theirs. Governments were even using these things. One place took one out on their power plant (It is in the program).
You can look at what the stimulus bill consists of in well over 200 websites. It falls under the freedom of information act.
It doesn't take a brain scientist to figure out that 80% of the stimulus bill will not work. Here's a challenge for you.....look up the contents of the stimulus bill and then tell us how those pork spending items are going to grow the economy.
