Alignment Rogue handling has been tweaked:
* If you have positive alignment and attack another player with positive alignment, you will go rogue for 10 seconds
* Every subsequent attack towards a good player while on the 10 second rogue mode will make you go rogue for at least 2 minutes
Carebears have already started their dumbing down of the rogue system.
Players in the same clan will now have a visual marker to identify each other. This can be toggled by /clan_toggle_display
# Players in the same party will now have a visual marker to identify each other. This can be toggled by /party_toggle_display
Carebears don't know who to attack now have have nice shiney visual floatey's above their friendly's. Nice to have fog of the war thrown out of the game just before launch.
Next patch will probably remove friendly fire and add guard towers to all wilderness banks, and if were lucky we can get insurance's on all our gear so if we die we just lose some money.

People with a higher IQ than 50 don't always want to be battling mindlessly. You act as if the game is SOLELY PVP. It's not and not everyone is going to be stupid enough to PVP 24/7. These changes really haven't made the game "carebear", maybe a bit less "sandbox" though.
So, you can now have a little grace for accidentally hitting someone and you have a TOGGLE-ABLE floaty name for friendlys.
Woopity-flippin-do.
I thought it was lame that you were majorly rogue for 1 hit in a game with no targeting.
If you don't like the name tags, don't turn 'em on.
See, there, now it's not so bad, is it?
I agree, you're overreacting. The rogue system was seriously broken. People were constantly jumping in front of others to intercept their attack, that way they could kill and loot them with no penalty. That's not hardcare, is complete douchebaggery. The idea is that you're not supposed to kill your race without some penalty. If you exploit a game mechanic it doesn't add to the immersion and reality factor, it makes you a piece of garbage. Also, don't turn on the teammate visuals if you don't want them. It doesn't have to affect your precious fog of war. From the notes I've read I only want the game more. The devs seem to have a very good idea of how to correct the seemingly major issues of the game. It gives me more hope for the future of the game.
Stated much better than I did.

The rogue system wasn't broke at all, it rewarded players who paid attention and not the ones blindly auto attacking mobs while IM'n and watching youtube. If in real life you accidently hit someone else with your weapon first guess whos at fault? Darkfall had the same system in place, but now its failing one concession here and their that dumb down the game mechanics is all it takes to make this game catered to the ignorant, stupid, blind legions of carebears who've ruined so many games in past years.

Guess you never played yet! NO SUCH THING AS AUTO ATTACK LOSER
I actually like the rogue system changes. The 1-2 hit thing is a good improvement, the changes are probably not final but it's good to see they're working on it.
I'm not happy about the flashy floaty signs though. I like the idea of lootable tabards alot more.

Are you being serious? There are ways to sneak in this game. Players would actually sneak up and run in front of you mid-swing, which has a fairly large cone of damage, so they would get hit. I read in a newbie guide for the game that the person who wrote it found someone with their back to a tree shooting into the air, macro grinding magic. He climbed half way up the tree and jumped in front of the mana missile to make the afker go rogue. In that case, it was justified. The point is, people will go out of their way to fuck you over if given the chance. In real life, if you're swinging around a weapon then you deserve whatever you get. Darkfall isn't real life or a substitute for it, no matter how much you want it to be. Ever think of lag? What if lag hits. People will know. They can jump in front of you and due to your lag you might not even know until the swing you put in 10 seconds ago goes in. Then it just so happens to land on a player you never even saw. Give me a break. When will the trolls give up? I mean, really. The game is receiving far more good reviews than bad, the devs are working hard to correct the issues before release, the game is actually shaping up quite well. Find a new pass-time. Darkfall trashing is coming to an end. I'd move on to bashingm Mortal Online, if I were you. Just a suggestion.

What you fail to mention is that, in real life, its 100% clear at all times who you should and should not be hitting.
You also fail to realize that this is a game, and having a UI that acknowledges a reflective dynamic in the relations between you and those around you is a must in ANY game.
Last, I really think you are literally a few hairs away from being completely brain dead. It is incomprehensible that a person can read the things you have read and pull from that the things you have. Its like you need a special translator to explain to you in detail whats REALLY going on, and then another specialist to make sure you stay in the real world and not whatever fantasy delusion you must live in to perceive things the way you do.
I doubt you are in beta so you really have no area of talking on this subject. the rouge system is messed up from the start of beta. and this is just makeing it well its just crap ALL of it is.

So, by your logic, it's my fault if you jump into my sword? That's why these changes were made. Players were looking for someone engaged in combat, jumping in front of them, causing them to go gray so they could gank them with no penalty.

I am in beta and have pre-ordered Darkfall. Whats getting me is they put the pre-orders up then after everyone buys the game. They throw this patch out their completely changing some fundamentals of the game, wasting many hours of guilds teamwork working on tactics and formations to overcome the zergs. Now every yahoo can toggle on a visual and know exactly who to attack and who not to attack. Seriously WTF is this bs, now zerg guilds and arac guilds will have even more of an edge against smaller tatical guilds.
Previously the confusion and fog of war during battle gave the small guilds a sizeable advantage knowing they the zergs half the time didn't know who the frak they were attacking where as we had formations and were aware of our positions at all times and mowed them down.
As for the Rogue system, the only people who complained about getting griefed like that were completely new people to the game anyone who has been in beta for more then a few hours has learned enough to avoid going rogue. All this new system does is make it easier for the zergs to just roll by players and hit them all once and get them low health and still avoid any penalties while screwing over the solo players and small guilds.
Every system gets abused the only difference is previously the underdogs had an edge if they had the skill with these changes now that edge gos to the zergs making it even more difficult for the underdogs to be competative. When you get in game and go I'm glad they changed the rogue system and 5 guys come by and all whack you once and laugh as a stray goblin arrow finishes you off while they loot you. You will wish they didn't change it as all 5 of them would be rogue for minutes+ and not 10 seconds.
I see both sides. It is being exploited, and feels like an exploit (non-intended feature) to me. But then again, DF is a PvP oriented game and protection from PvP doesn't seem to fit the mold.
However, a point possibly worth interjecting is the ruleset* for WoW AOE is that one accidental hit and you're flagged PvP for what... 5 minutes (?), and that's on a PVE server. Given this, I can sort of see the outrage when a Darkfall ruleset regarding PvP is more forgiving than one in WoW.

* I haven't played WoW in ages, maybe this has changed
WoW doesn't have full loot. Who cares if you're flagged pvp for a few minutes? Even if you die there's no downside aside from durability loss. That's nothing. Losing everything on you because some asshole decided to sneak up and jump between you and a mob you're killing in a game with no auto-aiming is a bit of a different issue, in my opinion.
Dumbing down of the rogue system?
The Rogue system is dumb as a box of rocks.
THE ROGUE SYSTEM WAS BROKEN.
They still haven't really fixed it, but it's better than it was before. The point is, it's not functioning how the devs intended, thus they need to (and are trying to) fix it.
When all is said and done the whole "rogue" thing is mostly a newbie issue. Most of us won't care about it once we're better at the game. Any fixes to it is welcome and anyone who thinks its "carebear" to have a WORKING alignment system (see: UO) is either unable to see the big picture or just afraid of change. If it were like this from the start, you would have not said it was carebear at all.
* If you have positive alignment and attack another player with positive alignment, you will go rogue for 10 seconds. *
I can see this being abused to make someone else go rogue.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Not sure how this is considered "care bear"
In UO we'd something similar like this to gank people.

I don't really see how a zerg going grey for 10 secs versus a zerg going grey for two mins really matters...
What are you saying that before the noobs around the area would attack the zerg for two mins instead of going omg tons of people run away?
Your argument makes no sense and dosn't stop a zerg from caring. Also a zerg big enough to do this would most likly have people of diffrent races meaning they could just farm faction and not care about going red any way. Your point is completely taken out of context of the game, the more people they have the more the system dosn't matter with the 10 second rule or without it.
With the clan warfare thing and seeing your team mates I am on the wall with that it really depends upon how noticeable it is. Really people would have diffrent color armor and stuff to clearly mark their army or team mates but that is just not possible so they have this now instead. So I agree with you on this part and I want to see how it works out tho.

Yes, because in real life people were rabidly jumping in front of my weapon in an attempt to get me convicted so they can run out to my car and loot it. Give me a break, any comparison between RPG mechanics and the real life are usually ridiculous, moot at best.
Hardcore conservative types are never going to be happy. You want this game to be a FFA slugfest. Too bad, so sorry you actually have to deal with the roleplaying aspects of an mmoRPG.
Perhaps you should learn the definition of 'dumbing down'. Adding a system that's more robust and diversified than "if damage is dealt, criminal for 2 minutes" does not fall within this definition. Instead of crying about 'carebear'ing a game when all they do is create a more robust system that caters to all preciments, maybe you should do what made all other games FEEL so hardcore, defy the rules, which that ability in and of itself makes a sandbox.
Here is simplification of exactly what the OP is saying:
OMFG, I learned how to exploit the game in it's beta, and now they are working hard to narrow and fix such exploits, I'm gonna cry and bitch and whine about them nerfing the umm "exploits"! Waaaah!
- Zaxx
It's the same Rogue system like in EVE. So stop bitching about it.
Jumping infront of someone's attack to flag him and subsequently kill him with your faction turning a blind eye has never and never will be an intended mechanic. Want to gank your faction members? You can! But be prepared to get treated as an outlaw. Makes perfect sense to me. Still the exact same freedom, but without that obvious exploit. AND if there would be botting after release in DF, you would still have an easy time flagging them long enough for a kill.
And as a bonus for us non-beta players: Now atleast we can tell What the F is happening in those group pvp scenes of the vids that get uploaded.
All in all; seems like a very sensible change
My brand new bloggity blog.
So, explain something to me. The only people playing the game, supposedly, are beta testers. There are, as far as I understand it, a whopping 9000 people currently playing the game. And already the carebears are destroying the game? Are you saying that the loudest majority within the game from the beta community are all carebears? I am a little confused, probably because it's late but this just sounds silly lol.
