im not gonna call you fanbois cause im not trying to be mean, but after all the questionable history of this game and the disaster that is todays "launch" how can you honestly justify giving money to this company. good mmos focus on communicating with the customers which AV makes gautes funcom look great. Imagine how bad this company is gonna be at patching the game and delivering new content. if new content takes as long as the release its gonna be a couple years before that happens lol. I once was a fanbois of aoc preordered it stood up for it and then got screwed by it. I wont vouch for a game like that ever again and I hope no one else will. so many red flags with this game its not even funny, this game has tons of potential but sadly i dont see it reaching it until some company buys the IP and handles it correctly. we gamers deserve games to launch better. the trial run for launches is over and companies need to see that. Please tell me though how you can justify giving money to this company
Comments
well truth is, for us in beta
we know they are good game developers, better than turbine, funcom or any other company that ive experienced. the patching, bug fixing and adding content is better than any of the above companies, and they listen to us players
on the business end they suck tho
I am wondering this myself. I am not on either side. I'm not gonna troll, but I'm also done defending them....
It is a little ridiculous hhow you guys can cling to Tasos words like they are gospel, and defend them for every fuck up they make....
And if you honestly think any type of server, forum OR game, is coming up tonight then your are delusional.....
And please keep you links to the official update to yourself, no one cares what it says because it is all lies. Ok so maybe ima troll a little bit....
What the fu.....are you high?
well from what ive read direct from all the beta testers....
-they communicated very well
-applied plenty of patches throughout the beta and very fast!
As of now the game or beta for that matter isnt up so lets hope they are drawing upon all resources to help get the launch up and running, which i think they no doubt will be!
Have a little Faith! These are only games afterall!!

I am 100% serious.
Played it. Game is great, therefore I give money.
Like someone else said, it is a tiny company going through their first launch with HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people trying to get in. They do not deserve slack on the game and gameplay because they have talked it up, but they do(imo) deserve some slack on launch.
What the fu.....are you high?
Yeah cause he really sounds high right?
Rift
well if what you say is true thats awesome but judging from what ive scene i just dont believe it. I hope this game succeeds but I dont think AV has what it takes
Well to be totally honest, everyone does this with every MMO or game in general. Sure all of the fans want the game to succeed and yes we want to hear good news regarding the game we plan on trying.. but look at the people always talking about MO.. what have they seen, screenshots... ? And they can already tell us how much better it is and what not just by that and a list of features? Sure the game looks nice and could easily be better but it's not here yet is it..
People still run out and buy each WoW expansions even though Blizzard ruined the game... I for one am dissapointed obviously that the game didn't launch earlier today as it was supposed to, but at least I have the patience to wait for it. I can guarantee the haters were sitting and their computer waiting for the launch announcement just as much as the fans were.. just for different reasons.
Currently playing - FF14ARR
Previous games - SWG, World of Warcraft, ShadowBane, Warhammer, Age of Conan, Darkfall, Planetside Asheron's Call, Everquest, Everquest 2, Too many.
Either go out drinking on night and spend 100$ + dinner
Or stay home and buy a copy of Darkfall and save $100~
That's how people justify giving Darkfall money. I personally won't give them money until things are stable and fully launched, but I do the same thing with other MMOs after learning the hard way several times.
I just think its too early to say if this is a failure or not based on Blizzards terrible launch of WoW and how that didn't stop them from making tons of money and maintaining a ton of subscribers.
Most games have a shakey launch. Nothing wrong with it, it's expected to happen.

sorry i disagree no company deserves slack on launch anymore. idc if they are in indie company. mmos have been around long enough for us to deserve smooth launches and good communication. this last minute stuff tasos does is just signs pointing towards reoccuring issues with AV.
What the fu.....are you high?
no hes not high... hes fanboy duh.. i mean come on.
Darkfalls so revolutionary it uninstalls itself.
Absolutely everything the OP said, I agree with.
The communication has been abysmal.
They have no idea what the hell they are doing.
It has fail written all over it.
...but to answer the question:
I'm paying because, I like the idea of the game. I like the direction they are heading.... I'm tired of cookie cutter, carebear WOW clones. I want something new... and even though I think this game is going to fail horribly, I'm hoping some veteran game producers notice all the hype and interest in this type of game, and make one that works much, much, much better.
Also, I am paying for it, because for the past 4 months (at least) there has not been one damn game worth playing... and I'm bored out of my mind, and willing to throw money at just about anything that isn't another friggin FPSer.

you go launch an mmo and see how "easy" it is
Yup, far from a flawless launch.
But I don't mind handing them my money since this is their first mmorpg and I would have been really surprised if everything had gone as planned. If it had been some big company who had countless game releases and should have had the experience on how to handle releases, I would have been a lot more upset.
And I'd rather support some small company which deliver something new (to me at least) and unique than one of the countless clones which has been released the last few years.
So there...

Better yet launch an MMO with a 30 man team to 200,000+ players. MMO's have been around long enough for them to be able to utilize the numbers and budget other MMO developers had right? Haha.
now that is a good reason IMO. you see it for what it is and what it could be. My thing is they havent given me a reason to invest my money in them and with my previous experience with other mmos i dont want to make the mistake again.
For me that's pretty easy: I'm not a fan, let alone a fanboi. I'm simply curious and the initial money investment is a fair deal to me to just have a look. If I don't like the outcome, so what? I'll shake it off and move on, it's not like I'm taking a risk.
AV on the other hand is taking a whole lot of risk, another reason that justifies giving them my little share of money. I know their situation pretty well and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, even though they clearly are not at all braced for the business side of things.
I actually make my living by the benefit of the doubt, being part of a fairly small IT company that's doing large scale projects for enterprise range customers. Our competitors usually being ten times our size upwards, we rely on customers choosing us for what we can deliver: Sub par business routines, yet high fexibility and quality in what we deliver, even if there might be hickups in the process.
Again, I'm not breaking a lance for AV, I simply state that the gamer community tends to make a big fuzz about what is merely a flying fart on their end. Endless pseudo scientific or professinal discussion on a few bucks for a game...well, whoever needs that.
To me the launch phase of a new game and seeing and testing it with my own eyes and hands is fun enough to justify the expense for myself. And it's not like I'd have to justify it in any other direction.
yea its the big companies who dont really care much else than making money so they release before its ready and tell a few fibs here and there!
AV i think are purely doing this for us gamers to enjoy, and well for their own achievement as well!
It will be good im sure, even if not at first....just like any mmo!

lol idc what anyone says im pretty impressed that aventurine is getting something out the door and from what beta testers say its a pretty fun game (not all beta testers but alot). i dont think ppl realize how much work goes into an mmo. alot more than a normal single player videogame
I agree with this. I will give any pvp centric MMO my money to try it out. Being full loot seals the deal. I tried AoC, I tried WAR, I will play DF, and I will try MO.
What the fu.....are you high?
I am 100% serious.
I look at it in much the same way as a company that is completely focused on making a good product. Communicating to the customers just isn't as interesting to them as making a good product. These companies never become the market leader, because their marketing is crappy to non-existent, but they may a good product, which is more than you can say for most market leaders. Generally you get your Microsoft's, McDonald's and Blizzard's - everything is focused on selling you the product, no one in those companies really cares about the quality of the product, so long as they can find ways to make you buy it.

rediculous statements IMO. as a consumer I dont just let it go when they get my meal wrong at a restaurant cause the waiter and/or chef are new. they are a professional company....they need to act like one. too many ppl continue to accept mediocre game launches and pay for it and we will continue to get that until we expect what we pay for
I'm looking for something with a challenge that's different. I love the concept behind DarkFall and I hope they pull it off. I'm still amazed at the amount of hype around the game though and the incredibly unrealistic expectations of some. I'll probably be signing up about a month after the game goes live and stabilizes. Right now I'm just here to kick back, relax, and troll the trolls.
