This is a non debatable fact. This game IS a scam / rip off.
Why?
Because they launched it FULLY KNOWING what state it was in. Fully knowing how untested and buggy it was.
They accepted a limited amount of orders for no other reason than to raise money for development.
Darkfall Online is a SCAM.

Obvious SCAM is obvious.
The only time its a scam is when they bugger off with the cash like Dark and Light etc. did without giving any refunds or shutting down the game and THEN buggering off, they have done niether.
Darkfall Online is not a scam yet, its very real they are just being idiots about the release, you guys lose more and more credibility the more you spout this kind of crap.
The amusing thing is I don't see you saying the same kind of stuff towards games like Age of Conan or companies like SOE who would pretty much qualify completely as scam artists.

People tend to say so, but we havent seen any proof yet. Just some class/level grind with some static mobs. Not a real MMORPG.

Probably they released because the had no other option. They needed the money from preordes. Period.

Darkfall was knowingly launched in an untested bugged state. Therefor anyone who ordered was gypped (scammed) by the producers of the software for something hey chose to take money for when the knew it was not in a pay to play state.
Buggy and unfinished eh? They fixed the big sync issue, worked their ass off for that. It now works perfectly. Server doesn't lag at all, very good ping, sync is pretty much perfect.
Only gamebreaking bugs are some of the mobs, that are exploitable. I understand if people get pissed about that, but you need to realize, that it is much harder to do nonexploitable mobs in game like Darkfall, FPS combat, no targeting game. In WoW for example, mobs just go evade mode and run back if you try to exploit them by not getting hit by them. That's the easy solution, and I hope Darkfall won't go that way.
But yea, please don't buy Darkfall OP, we don't want you there anyway

Every couple of minutes in beta someone on global chat screamed 'Vaporware!!!!'. Each time it was funny because of so many trools around. It never gets old.

OP, MMO evolve overtime, they are never released in a purely polished state and when they decide to evolve, sometimes they go to shit as well -- take WoW and the Battleground server migration that caused about 3 days straight of mayhem from what I remember between the kingdom servers, queues and bgs.
How about you take a break, shutdown your pc and pull your head from your ass -- I am sick of people who post things that make absolutely no freakin sense and defy all logic. I just had to create an account and get this off my chest.

PS -- if you thought that from a January beta to a February release the game would be perfectly polished, even after hearing the beta talk, then you truly deserve to feel scammed -- people with logic would understand and know what they are getting themselves into when playing the game. I will wait patiently for my copy as well.
Up until now all good MMO's have had bad launches.
EVE - was unplayable for over a month after launch.
WoW - The few people who actually played at launch knows how bad it was.

So why all the outbursts now with Darkfall? I suspect it's because the market is changing. There are so many options now (read: number of MMOs) that you can't afford to launch like EVE, WoW, Vanguard and now Darkfall did.
Today the smart solution would be to call it something like 'Final Beta Stage' and then let preorders play the game while the company hammers out the bugs. This way the company get's funds from preorders, and the people ordering get to play and help test/find bugs until it's stable and ready.
I hope Darkfall and Mortal does well - just so CCP (EVE Online) up's the ante with their upcoming Vampire MMO.
Only people who are gonna continue playing this game are the die hard fans who have really barely played it (servers have been down most of the time) and the people who have not yet pre-ordered and still think its the smooth but contentless game from beta, which many beta testers have said its not, if they manage to survive on 10k or so subs then they migth at some point in the future add enough content to make this an mmo, but i really doubt, 10k they will be at a loss and more than likely are gonna shutdown.
Aventurine had a good concept they could have treated as it was an indie development that needed funding and patient, Tasos was their downfall trying to make it sound like they had anything of commercial grade able to compete with the big boys (SOE, Blizz, hell even CCP), they obviously dont and for their arrogance they are gonna really pay for lying to the MMO community, lie to yourself all you want, im not saying this is a scam but this game is going nowhere nor will it get better anytime soon without funding, if it took them 6 years to release in this state (Talking about pure game, cant really be bothered about the billing system anymore) god knows how long it will take them to put ANY kind of new feature in.
I really hope this is the wakeup call for many companies out there including the company behind MO that lying to your community is not in your best interest to look better than you actually are.
beta testers are hapyp witht he game but every one kows it sneeds more game ahs alot of content as is but it will nee dmore
I agree with you i realy do, but what piss me off is the acc / order thing, they are just making it so dificult they realy dont decide about opening the shop or keeping it closed, i would love to understand the reason. It would be so good if they just said its full we cant sell now and we would be ok, but staying for 4days watching forum like crazy afread of geting another sold out and not being able to play for long time before they get more slot at server is get a lot of ppl crazy.
I just went out for 4hour on the pre-order they and was suficient to get a nice sold out in face
, now for 4 days scare of it happens again.
For me no big deal with buggs exploid etc, each mmorpg have it and the actual most famous one was one of the most buged game ever at the begins.
