Reality check - people do things for excitement and challenges. You could either go climb that small rock behind your house, or you could go climb everest. You can either go to the swimming hall and dive down and swim around at the bottom, or you could go diving in the big blue with sharks and what not.
WoW would be the first of these choices, Darkfall the latter.
I'll be sure to add Darkfall as one of my life-long achievements and accomplishments, the game is really hard and deserves to be right up there with climbing Mount Everest.
Don't compare virtual games to real life. Honestly.
I'm not saying you should, but the principle is the same. Some people play games that are more channelnging and excitement because thats what they want.
There is a flaw in this as well. I played DF beta and it s far from hard IMO. Annoying yes, hard no.

Not really, if you are in a good clan, which you should since darkfall is heavily based on group play rather than solo, it is very easy to do things, i farm mobs everyday with my clansmen without and difficulty, and its fun as hell, we are also engaging in a lot of wars, we're actually having one in 4 hours. (Waiting for their city to become vulnerable)

What you just described could be "frustrating" "annoying" and you definitely described "grindy" by saying:
"I farm mobs everyday with my clansmen without any difficulty".
Didn't you just say this game was hard. Make up your mind.
First off, this isn't my sort of game. I'm not really into PvP in my MMO experience. Does that make me a "carebear"? Maybe. But even if this was a PvE/sandbox game, because of the graphics, animation, potential for hacking, the sloppy AI, the boring game play, and Aventurine, there would be NO WAY I would purchase this. There are other PvP games that are far better (Eve). It just scares me to think that people have purchased this. It just gives precedent to other companies to think they can do the same as Aventurine and release this type of garbage.
I wish I could "Know" things about games without playing them.

I have been in the game 20min after queuing for 2hrs and so far I just want to quit. How do you send a tell and how do you sit? Anyone know? I will rpobably log off for awhile since there are no mobs in the game and it is completely counterintuitive system. Wow I thought AoC was bad. Anyways, let me know if you know how to sit and/or send a tell.
Wow you are a smart one. You sit by using the rest skill. You send a tell by hitting yourself in the face with a hammer.

To sit, you need to open up your skill list (rightclick the screen to switch actionmode on/off) then in your skill list, in the general section, find the skill called REST, drag it onto your hotbar. Then you you use R to sheathe your weapon (assuming you have one unsheathed), and then press the hotbutton to make Rest your active skill, then left click to use it. (your avatar will then sit down and enter rest mode)
it sounds a bit complicated for something as simple as sitting down... but eventually the buttonclicking becomes a habit and you wont think much about it when you do it.
you send a tell with /tell name surname blahblah (ie. /tell Random Gankster Hello, can i have my stuff back please?)
another thing you might like to know is the ' /bindstone recall ' (it casts a recall, no cooldown, but a 1-2 minute cast time, dont know how long it is... but it sure as heck feels like 5 minutes when you are in hostile territory )
and /annotation_add Bank (it will add a mapnote with the text Bank , on your current location.)
Yep, sounds like alpha stage placeholders. Simply because, it's 2009 and Aventurine cannot figure out how to make a real hotbar, so when you press a command, it happens. So you must now just simply macro a sit command on my G15.
Yeah... Darkfall is uber advanced GUI... LOL
I have to agree. How idiotic to have to macro something that SHOULD be as simple as /rest or /sit. FFS people....it's 2009.

First, you have to play it to know. Don't get your facts from youtube videos. Second, I like this game because of how it sucks you in. Seriously I was chasing a full scale armor guy with a sliver of health left through the forest and my heart was freakin pounding. Too bad he got away, but my heart was pounding(!) with excitement. Yes it may be unpolished, yes it may have bugs, but seriously there is no MMO I'd rather play.
And you know why it's a really good game? Because it's out right now. Name me any full loot PvP seamless world in a medieval setting. It doesn't EXIST (not now at least, not gonna play a 10 year old game). So until MO or something else comes out and takes over I WILL be playing this because it is a GOOD game comparable to present standards.
ROFL, I love watching the uneducated crap brain fanbois try and argue for this game. Nothing gives me a better laugh. Raw stupidity at it's finest. It's all been done before. Not only that, but the way it's done in this game is completely half-as$ed. The draw to this game isn't centered around there existing a strategic core, or high-end open world experience. It's about being able to be a little turd and dupe/cheat/scam/grief some other player out of something they value. YEAH MAN, good reason to play a game. I really want to play with a bunch of f'in retards who play a game like this. You completely lack the skill to win a real FPS objective-based game, so you come play in your little fantasy world where you have the opportunity to lie and cheat your way to success. Something tells me you treat real life the same way. Going to cry? I'm sure you'll lie about that as well. F'in losers. Learn your place in the world. STFU.

Yep, he pretty much summed up the DF fanbois fairly well. I'm fairly certain the fans of DF know deep down inside themselves that DF is a piece of shit game. They just refuse to take their heads out of the sand. And anyone who actually loves the game needs to step away from their keyboard and reflect a bit. Or maybe just get out in the world some.
It's not perfect.... it needs work... I quite enjoy it so far.
Suprsing how the Ol' left click combat actually draws you in a little more... It is different... so used pressing one key e.g. 7 - Stabbing Sword of Flaming Destruction (attack) and watch my avatar go through some contorted movement with flames following the sword swing (looks impressive)... Now I attack where I aim, when I decide to... and if I miss it's my fault not some roll of dice behind the screen.
It's not the best game... it's not the worst (I played Dark and Light!).
Just have to see how it develops along the way.

That's a great attitude and I wish more people had it. It's possible to have fun and enjoy the game, but still recognize that it's not perfect and needs work. Likewise, the fact that I recognize Darkfall has issues and want to discuss them doesn't mean I'm not interested in it, nor does it mean I don't want it to succeed. To paraphrase Newt Gingrich (great sig, popinjay):
“You’ve got to want Darkfall to succeed. You’re irrational if you don’t want Darkfall to succeed.”

Well, I suppose a fanboi of any game may seem like a raving lunatic at the best of times (however the same can be said about haters or what have you).
Anyone who defends their opinion adamantly may/will come off as aggressive and defensive, or even belligerent. The opinion doesn't have to stop at Darkfall, it could be real events in the real world besides Darkfall. However, Darkfall seems to be the only thing on the minds of fans and haters alike.
If someone hates the game, they are going to defend the reasons they hate it. If someone likes the game, they will also defend their reasoning.
Your opinion is your opinion, as mine is my own. We sometimes seek confirmation of our opinions, just for reassurance that our opinion is valid and well formed. But it doesn't matter, because an opinion is something of a personal nature.
It's what YOU like that's important. If you dislike Darkfall, find something else to waste your time on. If you like Darkfall, then you have found something you like to waste your time on... pretty simple, no?

You know, I dont play DF... but it is straight up pathetic that so many people spend their time trying to talk them out of enjoying a game that they are having fun playing.
Why do you guys even care that they are having fun? Do you get kicks out of attempting to ruin it for them? Do you think telling them that their just blind fanboys is going to talk them out of it? Does it make you feel better about yourself or something?
Very ironic that so many seem proud of themselves by calling others "Fanbois" as if they are making the "Fanbois" look bad, when in reality they are just making themselves look like pathetic people who get kicks out of trying to ruin enjoyment for others...
Maybe if you guys were not so miserable that you cant find something that brings yourselves enjoyment, you wouldnt be on here trying to make others feel as miserable as you...

Funny how noone realized he simply tried to take "when you are not in combat mode, use the rest button on your hotbar" and make it sound as complicated as possible.
I dont even play the game and I can figure that one out.

Then you you use R to sheathe your weapon (assuming you have one unsheathed), and then press the hotbutton to make Rest your active skill, then left click to use it. the part in red only needs to be done once in order to set up your rest skill. after you place your rest skill in the hotbar, you only have to do the part in green.
the first time you log into the game, open skill window, find REST under General Skills. Drag REST to hotbar. That's it, you've setup your first skill (if that's too complicated, maybe this game isn't for you). I always place REST in the first hotbar slot (because you use it often).
Any time I need to rest, I use the following keys: "R" (to sheathe my weapon, your weapon must be sheathed for a lot of functions in this game), "1" (one being the hotkey assigned to my REST skill), "Left-Click" (left activitates whatever your selected ability is... if you have a weapon drawn, you will swing your weapon, hence needing to sheathe it).
So, lets recap on that, after explaining why and how... ...this is the key combination: "R" > "1" > "Left-Click"
Not that tough and overwhelming once you understand how and why things are the way they are.
on a sidenote:
Did you ever play FFXI? FFXI required "macros," assigned to ALT+1-0 or CTRL + 1-0, if you wanted to be effective. There were very specific syntax for creating your macros ("/ws 'Combo' <bt>") That was just for Weapon Skills. I think magic was "/ma 'Spell Name' <bt>'. Or you could use <t>, which was just any selected target. <bt> was Battle Target, which means the skill would only affect your engaged enemy. The names of abilities were case sensitive, so you couldn't use "combo," the first letter of each word had to be a capital.
That's rocket-science compared to Darkfall's UI.
"Good people are good because they've come to wisdom through failure. We get very little wisdom from success, you know." William Saroyan

This is a perfect example of overly complicated mechanics and UI design. How many players already have these steps assigned to macro so that it could be accomplished in with a single keystroke, like it should be?

Did that guy really just say all that? Was he serious? I assume he was not being serious considering how absolutely insane his statements were. Maybe that makes me non-awesome? lol....

I dont even play the game and I can figure that one out.
the part in red only needs to be done once in order to set up your rest skill. after you place your rest skill in the hotbar, you only have to do the part in green.
the first time you log into the game, open skill window, find REST under General Skills.

This game rocks.
This is a perfect example of overly complicated mechanics and UI design. How many players already have these steps assigned to macro so that it could be accomplished in with a single keystroke, like it should be?
