This game has the absolute worst player community.  Can't even ask a question in chat without someone calling you names.

I dont believe it for 1 sec,if players like "yourhead"play this game then there must be alot of interesting chat...I mean just look at what he add's to these forums alone,he is certainly changing my mind to avoid darkfall.......

and this is new how? We all know what kind of people these type of games attract. Always will be the bottom feeders of the MMO community. There are some exceptions but its well known in general to who these games attract.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)

Indeed, this game was always being set-up for the "I am l33t" type player's so does it shock anyone that is how it turned out?

No thought required just login with a few mates and we go grief solo players, this type of game will never ever be a success, only a good idea went wrong!

Well, I am not going to say it's your fault for expecting anything more, but a few minutes in the official Darkfall forums would have let you know what type of community(I say community rather loosely) that Aventurine has targeted.

Time will tell if Aventurine can squeeze out a living with this type playerbase or not.

    Sorry for your disappointment.

I always try to give any sort of promising looking MMO a shot.  No regrets there.

But when people go out of their way just to be jerks when people are asking questions, it's just not fun.

  • MoretrinketsMoretrinkets Member Posts: 730

well, no surprise, PvP + looting players = premium gankfest. too bad the game doesnt have the resources yet to open up more servers and finally release it like other MMOs. This game is fun when you group, be part of a guild, and declare war to others. This game is not for soloers.

"and this is new how? We all know what kind of people these type of games attract. Always will be the bottom feeders of the MMO community. There are some exceptions but its well known in general to who these games attract."

That's where your wrong and I lol at your stereotype, games like this can bring out the best and of course the worst in people, look at WW2 Online sure, there are the usual e-peen idiots there, they infest every MMO but thank god it is not the majority of the community and I have actually found after playing axis more often that the community is pretty nice and you can have a decent conversation without idiots swarming you.

A playerbase in my experience almost ALWAYS reflects the game, if you decide to make a game that caters to people who want to do nothing but grind, play a gear based game and gank people then you are going to get nothing more than spoilt pricks who want to brag about the shiny new gear they recently got or what ability the gained through pointless repetitive tasks lately.

Age of Chivalry is a pure PvP game and yes its not an MMO but the playerbase I have found on there is brilliant, yes you have your usual idiots but unlike WW2 Online you aren't forced to sit back and let the idiots take over especially if you are on an FF server, me and others just simply grief the players off the server if there are no mods about and because they are so blatantly obvious in their idiocy they usually get banned pretty fast anyway.

Which reminds me I remember before when these kind of morons at least had a bit of subtlety when they attempted to be idiots in communities, guess they must have found more allies when the games industry got more popular.

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

That's because asking questions in chat is carebear!  rawr!

I will admit that while chat in Darkfall is fun, it is rare that you are going to get a straight answer right away. While there are people who do help, the vast majority of Darkfallers think that being cool is being sarcastic and rude. It's like a badge of honor to them, sort of like the /b/ mentality.

The only way to tolerate this community is to find a good guild and ignore racial alliance chat and the forums. Otherwise, the people who play this game will make you hate the human race and happily dream for it's destruction.

Too late for that mate. A mix of youtube, wow barrens chat (which is trade now), regular stupidity around here and the way mmorpg.com moderate their forum, idiots who run whatever country (they are all morons) and so on (I can go on forever I guess so I'll stop here) made sure of that a long time ago Besides I always found the Eve community utterly detestable and amongst the worst humanity have managed to puke out. They can't be as bad as they are, right?

Just watch the youtube vids with voiceovers/running narration, or the live streams and you can actually listen to the type of people that play this game instead of just reading the words they type in chat.

People that never should speak in a public format, with either semi-mongoloid downs syndrome slurring of speech substituting the word "carebear" for most nouns and using profanity purely instead of adjectives.  Just trying to listen to one of these slugs describe the most mundane of things is an exercise in self restraint, akin to seeing just how long you could stand reaching your hand into a trash can filled with dirty diapers on a dare before you yank it out in disgust.  The kind of guy who sounds like he's choking on grape soda while eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, gasping for air with every breath and barely sputtering out his profanities because of the amount of neck fat constricting his larynx, the kind of guy who has to lean way back in his chair just to speak because of the pressure of the fat rolls choking out his vocal cords when he's hunched over his monitor with his ham-hock fists pounding away at the little greasy keys on his "gamer" keyboard.  The kind of guy who says "noobs" but pronounces it "nooooooooobs" every single time, like the lowing of a herd of cattle at sunrise before they're milked.

A typical snippet of his conversation: "**slurggh slurgg slurgg munch munch munch cough cough** Man I don't know what the f*ck these f*cking carebears want out of this game man **wheeeze**, if you can't f*cking see how great of a game this is from the first f*cking second you log in then you're just a f*cking carebear and you should either kill yourself or go f*ck yourself. *munch munch wheeze*  I swear to god these f*cking noooooobs think they can come in here and start thinking they're the sh*t and swinging their sword around man but I f*cking just laugh man, these f*cking nooooobs weren't around in You Oh man we had sh*t going on like this from day f*cking one.  *snort snort cough gasp*  Now you see me in here and this is what it's all about man, look I got this sword and this is like a twitch game you know I'm not gonna have pity on you if I see you in here crying about getting your sack chopped off or...hold on I gotta fight this noooooob, yeah, see this is why I LOVE THIS GAME man, now I can just have no pity and kill this f*cking nooooob man (spins his character around to see if anyone is around then loots the headstone, clicking frantically on each item like he was a grandma at a Yarn Barn clearance sale)  ok what was I saying, oh yeah this f*cking WoW kiddies come in here and think they can step one foot out of the town and then we send them back crying to thier moms, sucking their t*ts talking about "Mom, these mean Darkfall guys killed me then looted me mom...waaaaaahhh" That'll f*cking teach you noooobs go back to wow you carebear kids nobody wants you here, NOBODY *snurgle gorgle gorlgle cough cough*"

Another type of person that seems to populate this game is the smarmy, know-it-all uber-geek who is in his mid 30's, yet whose voice has not yet cracked and insists on vocally enunciating internet acronyms such as saying "Loal" out loud when he could have just laughed, or remained silent.  The kind of person who pronounces each letter out loud in ROFL, slowly...each time something out of the ordinary happens or he disagrees with something, that something being anything and everything said by anyone not himself about literally anything at all happening anywhere in the game.

A typical snippet of his conversation:   "Ar Oh Eff El dude no f*cking way, get the f*ck off that platform man I can hear fighting around the corner I swear I hear mana missle being cast, let's go f*cking kill that noob dude, haha yeah, let's go f*cking lewt that dewd...hey, hey ninja62 get your a** over here man Double You Tee Eff are you doing man? Didn't you nub cakes hear me tell you that I hear Mana Missiles over there?  F*cking Loal at you noobs man!"

I mean, seriously play these vids with commentary on youtube and around the net for a minute, then put the voices to the words you see in chat, you'll see I'm not even exaggerating in the least bit.

    This.

I dearly hope Darkfall succeeds and thrives for many years to come, just so that every time someone complains about lack of hardcore pvp or carebears we can all tell them where to go.

The fact that they will be bent over a barrel and sodomized by the community until they find a guild and get established will reassure them that they are in exactly the type of game they were asking for.

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do.

The best part is that most all of Darkfall's community is made up of grown adults that are in guilds that were formed 10+ years ago. There are reasons they are playing Darkfall Online......

Look at it like this, Darkfall's community are owned by Tasos the BS artist. Darkfall's PvP was made for people who have no real PvP skills. Darkfall is not that hardcore, there are many restrictions as well.

But, but, but Darkfall has full loot!

`WWIIONLINE is not a stupid gank fest. It's a game for wargamers, ,not for gankers or macroers

Played WWIIONLINE, this game has one of the best cties i saw in a MMO.

DAOC has also a nice cty.

On the other hand, there are many that do not fall into this category, as well.

Perhaps you should look for and befriend those in category 2 above.

In the average MMO I can pretty much ignore every jerk so long as I have a steady supply of a few nice ppl to interact with.  I have the game mechanism, the pve and whatever else to do, and the jerks can be safely left at the side.

But NOT in DF, NO NO NO.  These jerks are there with only 1 wish  To wreck havoc, no matter if I wish it or not.  I can have a million nice ppl but enough of these jerks and my gaming experience is compromised by not just their presence in the chat channle, but in everywhere I go.  I wonder why I should be paying for the company of the very kind of jerks I do not want to see.  If I am paid well enough, sure I hang around with them.  That is part of my day time job.  After getting paid and start spending, I want the least of the presence of these jerks.  And I am going to pay for a game in which these jerks have a free hand on me?  I must be out of my mind.

No thanks.  The replies in some of the DF discussion threads here pretty much tells us what kind of ppl play DF.  As well elaborated in the threads above, this is no surprise.  FFA PVP generally invites the worst kind of gankers and griefers, and these ppl drive away most of the decent playerbase.  You find some nice ppl in DF now?  Try to find them tomorrow or day after.

If I want jerks, I do not need to pay and waste my offhours in DF.  I know where to find them.

    Sorry to hear that.

I am in a clan, in a city far from the newb areas. I do not have this problem as my clan is relatively mature and I simply turn off chats that are irrelevant, like racial and racial alliance, etc...

    Aye

That is one way to deal with the jerks, shut them down.  But that still leaves 2 issues to consider.

First gameplay in DF is limited.  You need a guild with mature people to enjoy.  If you play odd hours (like I do sometimes) you will be alone and pretty much gimped.  It also means that the game is basically a guild game, the other dimension of free exploration and free socialisation does not exists.

Second, even with a guild, the jerks can still cause trouble.  As soon as I go afk, as soon as I turn my head talking to my sister's baby, as soon as ... I am vulnerable.  This is not really a relaxation experience.  I do not need a game in which I need to feel stressed and worried.  I have enough of them at work and with the piles of dollar notes I got in exchange, I want not to buy more stress.

Its good you find a way to enjoy this game.  I remained suspicious, and have decided to walk away, at least for now.

Yes, there are many people playing the game whose parents should be locked-up for having raised such dregs.

On the other hand, there are many that do not fall into this category, as well.

Perhaps you should look for and befriend those in category 2 above.

(Indeed, it seems like many of the Barren's chat rejects have made their way to Darkfall. Good thing is, you can always kill and loot them, just for being idiots. ;)

There is a far higher percentage of idiots, L33T speaking e-peeners, cheaters, hackers, and such within the DF community than you'll find in just about any other MMO community out there.  Sure, there are some decent people in there as well, but they actually seem to be the minority.

And people think the WoW community is immature and filled with idiots.  Darkfall absolutely DESTROYS the WoW community in regard to immaturity levels.  It really is pathetic to behold.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
