We had moderators from the Darkfall Forums coming here and trolling these forums?
Remember when we had fanboys coming here and telling us (before launch) that the game would have every feature implemented by the time of launch?
Remember when fanboys argued that the graphics and sounds were "placeholders" and would be changed for release?
Remember when fanboys told us that the mob spawns were low because it was in "Debug Mode" for beta testing?
Remember when fanboys told us this game takes a lot of skill to play in PvP?
Ahh... I remember those days.

Don't forget at the same exact time accusing 'trolls' of scaling back over and over as the game released. Double edged sword, as they say...?
Shrug, IM having fun. Why do I need to say 'Oh, so much potential lost' etc etc.
I say, sit back and enjoy the ride. If your not enjoying the ride, get off

Remember when people said the game was nothing more than smoke and mirrors and cleverly made flash video?
Hilarious how EVERYONE was wrong!
Remember when gas was under a dollar? Or when Jack in the Boxes 1.00 menu was actually worth eating off of?
Remember when people didn't make emotion baseless posts on web forums to argue opinions rather then facts ad nauseum?

Sad but true.
There are lots of mobs. Maybe venture of the road?

Dont remeber that one but alot did say its vaporware. Which it is. Now now before you go on about it was released, vaporware has nothing to do about release. Sorta like you dont have to have a d*ck on your head or be a female dog or eat a carpet. Alot of DF fans need to go back to insults 101. Daikatana = Darkfall.
But atleast Daikatana let you try before you buy. I will give Romero that much.
You forgot that one OP. I do remember how "try before you buy" was toted around on every post before release back in december.
You mean before the internet? Ahh those were the days . . .

I will agree that the "try before you buy" was a big deal for me, mainly because I love playing games and try just about everything if I don't have to pay for it first... some games I still pay for.. but this was a big try for me because its an indy game.
Other then that your definition of vaporware is sorely incorrect.
Also this game doesn't look to be anywhere close to failure.. think -- if they limped along for 8 years without any return, whatever money they're received now will probably last them at least another 2

Defenition of vaporware? Going to have to send you back to school son. People determine what a word means and that changes constantly. There have been a few games that earned the word vaporware and still released. It has nothing to do about release. Never has been. Same with my example of b*tch are u seriously saying if someone called you that you would say im not a dog or a female?
Theres only one game I can remember that actualy lost the vaporware stimga. And thats TF2 but valve can pull anything off. They did change that game a 100 times during its long development. The releastic version woulda been funner I think (not saying tf2 isnt fun).
And im sure your still shaking your head about the term vaporware and all I can say is look at the flinstones. What kind of time do they have? Vaporware is a insult not a technical term like transistors and processors. Its just attached to software thats been in dev a long time and what was new and innovative become old and stale.
Its a insult. Ill say it again..... ITS AN INSULT.

You posting is an insult to this forum if you think calling something vaporware is an insult well after the game has released. You can consider it an insult, but you can't go around changing the meaning of words on your own and expect people to follow you. Sorry, look up the definition, or google it. The developer has produced a viable, playable piece of software hence no vapor. If you want to go around calling things vaporware to be an insult go right ahead.
What you're trying to say is that you're trying to make a coined word mean something that it doesn't mean, hell you can go around calling all your friends "hotdogs" if you want and try and convince people that when you say something is "bad" you really mean its "good" if thats what you want to do, but you'll just come off looking droll or misinformed.

Even gave you an example of a game that was released and is called vapoware. Way before DF.
Dictionarys and internet sites for definitions update to stay currenet with trends. Its not the other way around.
Look up the history of the word gay. Dictionarys do not determine how a word is used. They determine how words were used.
Last paragraph made no sense. Were you trying to say calling my friends Dog? Well it can be bad and it can be good. Depends on which sex is telling you this.
See words are very complex. They can have multiple meanings. For instance the dog example you used.
You can say thats my Dog(old slang not used to much now) or a girl can say your a Dog. Ones good ones bad. Complex I know.
But like I said you wouldnt get it and would pull out some dictionary or dictionary site.
Seriously what kind of time do the flinstones have?
Ah I remember those days with teary eyes. When the aroma of Tasos bullshit filled the air mixed in with the fanboys stench of dispair. And no one was quite sure if anyone was in beta. And whether the game would launch or Tasos would be seen carrying a big heavy suotcase on a flight to some no extraditable country...
.. alas the drama has become so mundane, come one Tasos do something stupid or arrogant. We dare ya !
The good old days should be making a comeback. With 2+ hour queue times to log into DF the fanboi's have found a lot more time to play ForumFall again.
Server problem or mass player login at weekend?
Do you know what, I am not one of them and your opinion doesn't really matter for me.
Any Mirdain for the kobald quest or little pvp raid into the Tribelands ?

this, especially vaporware having nothing to do with release.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
Seriously, a semantic battle? Don't lie and pretend like you meant vaporware as in "released but different than promised" this whole time, because you didn't. The fact that you are trying to redefine a word (we all knew the connatation of it anyways) shows how you are grasping at straws. Face it, the game came out and a lot of people like it. There are server issues, but all MMOs have them, ESPECIALLY a small company. The server issues will be fixed, but then what will you cry about?
Also, notice how it is only people who haven't played the game that claim it is a failure...

I remember when people said "the mobs will be turned on after beta" and that the strange mob behaviour was due to "the AI being switched off and tested in beta".
what a crock, it's exactly what was discussed (Av has never 'promised' anything).
the problem is that idiots can't/won't read. classic case in point:
tasos said: "Our hope for Darkfall is that you won't spend a
cent on the game until you've tried it and decided you want to play it. "
which idiots, still to this day, interpreted as:
"we 100% promise to offer a free trial before buying"
since when does 'hope' become 'promise'? there are dozens of other examples of idiots not reading & taking shit out of context.
DF is fine. sure it has a bunch of teething issues that *every* first-time MMO developer (including blizz & others) goes through with their first MMO, but vapourware? what a crock.
ROFLMAO! I dont know if this post is a mistake or what, but i laughed so hard!!!! So off topic its hilarious!!!!!!

Rule one of expectation management. You DO NOT even imply something which you cannot deliver. You keep it quiet and please people by providing it when you can 100% for sure do it. Same with the 100% ready for release bullshit.
Tasos used this "hope" strategy nearly everywhere and turned DF into a religion with his hype and us trolls are the result. Its like clap your hand loud enough and tinkerbell will live !
Payback is a bitch... Mr Taco
THE GAME IS IN DEBUG MODE!!!11!!! or no it isint its just terrible

Everytime someone used the word "vaporware" in reference to df, they were claiming the game would never release.
The game has been released.
It is no longer vaporware.
Darkfall could be considered a dissappointment by some but that doesnt mean its vaporware.
And how f****** dare anyone out there make fun of darkfall after all its been through
Leave darkfalll alone
