One of the community members managed to get a hold of a complete copy of the low quality version of the beta footage.
Alternatively, you can wait until the good quality version is up.
Edit: No point in watching the lo-res version now, the site seems stable enough to just watch the hi-res version.

That combat system looks bad ass and very brutal, if this is this smooth in beta (yes, i had seen the animation pops) i think we can look forward to something really nice for release.

I've heard "only 12 v. 12" or "6 vs. 6 instanced battles" being thrown around. If that's the case, the combat and animations better be fun and smooth as butter. It's all about the experience more than the numbers, but when there is a lack of numbers, the combat needs to be that much better.
Darkfall has crappy combat but people are still amazed by the huge battles. Mortal Online could be an opposite scenario.

Instancing is not being used. Its right in the FAQ. (it may be used for dungeon...) but considering the use of light and true darkness.... Those will be more like oblivion and not typical MMO's. So i would not begrudge them that at all.
And i quote:
Q: How large is the game world going to be? Will it take a long time to go from one end to the other?
A: The first continent we are launching is about 64km2, not including undergrounds and dungeons. It’s pointless to compare "scale" to other games if you don’t know their speed and means of travel, but in MO, jogging from one end to the other (horizontally across) in a straight line, if that was possible, would take you approximately.. 40 minutes? And although it’s hard to say how large the world will feel until it’s filled with real players, right now it feels very big. The 64km2 is currently entirely seamless and has no instances, something we really hope we will be able to keep for release. The rest of the documented world consists of 5 more continents of similar size.

Please stop throwing around your own assumptions as facts. There as been no "talk" of "12 vs 12 or instanced battles".
thanks for the video but cant really tell too much cause of such a low quality and its not HD on youtube. cant wait to see it on the official website in higher quality though.

where? this game is supposed to be an open sandbox ?!?
Like I said, I only heard it being thrown around. Could have very well been Darkfall fanbot dribble.
I was very impressed by the dungeon side of the video
The PVP not so much, looked great and gory, but i'm not sure alot will be attracted to it bc of the first person view and perhaps its a bit too slow, perhaps its just me
Also this will by default not support large scale PVP in terms of more than AoC does...unless they found a way to do something more that Funcom cant
Just personal opinion, will wait and see it develop

I wasn't. You know that magical word, "if"? That means that I wasn't stating it as a fact. Otherwise there would be no if there.

There is an information thread at the top of this forum. If you want reliable info, go there.

I was impressed by the speed, and variety of the combat, its more realistic, and looks more brutal (I do not mean blood and FX, i mean going toe to toe with your foe in a game a strategic swordplay FOR YOUR LIFE and honor) , and perhaps quicker to down someone, but much more oriented towards using the combat system instead of combating pools of hit points.
I guess what i am trying to say is less like typical MMO's, and more like bushido blade (that's an extreme, i know, but it does look like it leans more towards that) I noticed stances, direction slices, and active blocking and parrying.... Just my observations from that video.
If combat is that involved, i don't need huge numbers...that alone will be exciting. Instead of Quake like in an out trying to land a hit.

This is for the torrent of this beta video. Not sure if it is the high quality version, but it is certainly better than the one posted to youtude.

That combat system is straight up win.
10/10
I cant wait to get involved with MO.
Looks alright, would like to test the game... will check out the official video later :P
This game impresses me over and over again with each pic/vid that's released.
I just hope that either 3rd person will be introduced, or that a PvE server will come. I realy suck at 1st person view PvP
For early footage it shows promise, had some dissipointments but a lot could be the factor of crappy youtube quality.
It got me more interested so its served its purpose.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
Someone upload a higher version please.

I really doubt third person will come as at last note it was only used for when on a mount and as you see in this newest video being on a mount is in first person view. I also don't believe you will see a PvE server, certainly not at launch. The devs have a stout belief that PvP is an equal part of their pie. And since they aren't trying to compete with the 12 million subscriber game, they can afford to stick to the recipe for that pie.

The torrent download I linked looks alot better than the youtube one posted. You can clearly see the detail in things in the torrent version.

I know that 3rd person view and/or PvE is kinda out of the question. Never the less, I'm gonna give Mortal a real try though.
I just hope that playing Oblivion till Mortal's release will get my skills in1st person combat up a bit, but I have high doubts...

i Agree. They really need to introduce 3rd person view for the people that don't really care for the FP point of view. Game does look very good for beta.

I have faith in ya. People drone on and on about "skill". Don't listen to them. What is important is to have decent hand eye coordination, and (this is the most important in my opinion) to know the buttons on your keyboard, where they are and what they do. Once you know that (jump button, crouch, hotkeys for items, etc) then it becomes a matter of putting that with what you want your character to "do".

LOL looks like what Darkfall should have been.
Watch out for the flames!
