Flight may be a small draw for the game but it will not be the end all be all of it. After playing the Korean game for nearly three months I can honestly say that flight has nothing to do with me enjoying the game. I love the visuals, the game is just stunning on high settings. It is also incredibly stable and polished for a newly released MMO. I truly enjoy logging into a game, setting everything as high as I can and still get 60-70 FPS in highly populated areas.
If you are looking for something that is highly inovative, Aion will not be what you are looking for. Nothing that Aion has at the moment has not been done before, it is just how well everything melds together into one package that makes it good.

You wouldn't understand
Fantasy is the fans preferred genre, so AION is yet another attempt to make a better fantasy game. Pretty simple why they do it, to maximize revenue from their target market.
No SCI game yet has equalled the numbers many fantasy games gave dragged in (SWG notwithstanding).

Exactly, gaming has deviated from the art direction more to the money making side of things. Now they churn out rehashed ideas over and over again instead of making something original. Why? Because they know what makes the money and could care less about innovation.
Somewhere down the line someone will make a Sci-fi MMO and people will flock to it not because it is the cream of the crop, more because it will be something different.

Aion will probably do well for awhile but how long people play it for is another story. Once SW:TOR and Guild Wars 2 hit the stands he majority will come play these instead. Other than Guild Wars and L2 they haven't done anything special in some time now.

I don't know about everyone else, but Tabula Rasa was a blast for me. COX is still pretty popular. As far as I'm concerned, 90% of the products from NC are pure gold.

The relentless grind is what makes it so great, good thing there isnt much end game content cause 95% of the people quit before they get there.

Just curious where you pulled that 95% stats out from ? maybe you can shove it back up there...as far as grind, glad to see this brought up yet again. Maybe it would be better if I didnt have 10+ years of MMO gaming under my belt and didnt know that all MMOS have a relentless grind. But, since I do know better I realize how pathetic people like you are that throw this around as if we are all too stupid to know better. thanks for adding some of your BS to the thread.

TBH what makes Aion so good is the customer support from NCsoft. I love not being able to log in due to a password issue and checking my support ticket every few hours for two days only to see absolutely no response outside of the automated reply. I understand it's the weekend and a holiday weekend at that, but even a person sifting through the tickets replying that they received my info and are/will be working on it would be less frustrating. Even if no one will be able to fix this for me until later this week, I'd like to know.
NCsoft is the biggest concern for GW2 for me right now.
I've personally never had a bad experience with NCSoft's customer support. I have very rarely needed to use it and when I did, thankfully I got very fast (day-of) responses and they actually resolved the issue.
I do have a handful of friends who have had nightmare experiences with them, so I'm aware it isn't all sunshine. However, after having my Guild Wars account for years, I can say I never, ever had any problems with support with products they are only publishing.
Doesn't Anet handle CS for GW2 and not NC?
The beautifully crafted world. Everything looks like cheap plastic, it's like a "Ken & Barbie Get Wings MMORPG" mod.
Oh, and the fact that my account got banned for botting. About 6 months after I stopped playing (never used one while I was playing either).

To each their own, but the account security issues are indeed sad to hear. Sorry that happened to you, never fortunate when someone gets an account they paid cash for unfairly banned.
