I agree nothing should ever be forced, unless it is a threat to others rights. Everyone should be given the right of choice.
it goes back to victimless crime. if someone wishes something for themselves that is fine, if they wish to impose their wishes upon everyone else that is not fine, no matter what religion, no matter what country. It boils down to " human rights" . If mulsims wish to live in peace , with their prayer, their families, their beliefs that is fine. Now if some of those muslims want to take over the world and impose their beliefs on everyone else, that is not fine. They are not entitled to do so by " human rights". If Christians wish to live in peace, with their prayer, their familes, their beliefs that is fine. now it is not fine for them to take over the world and impose their beliefs on everyone else. That is not fine, they are not entitled to do so by "human rights." This applies to all religions, and lack of belief in them. We have Amish, indians, and all of the religions of the world living here in the US. Those here like the Amish and the Hopi do not believe in the use of technology, and are allowed to live peacful lives practicing their religion without outside interfereance, because they do not go around trying to make everyone live that way. We cannot change the past, we can only act in the present and affect the future. That is all we can do, complaining about past and placing blame does nothing to solve the problem. All men and women ARE created equal , and under human rights should be protected. As long as active participation in any religion does not conflict with that, or conflict with someones right to happiness, and existance, and right to not be harmed there should be no problems. It is only when people are not given that choice does conflict arise. It should be a choice on whether or not someone wishes to actively particpate, or not in any peaceful religion, not a law. This is a Human right, not an implementation of any religion.
Again you fail to understand my point....it is your perception of human rights may not be the rest of the worlds perception
It is the only solution to compromise. It is the only way the world will ever live in peace. Everyone is given that choice, they can choose to reject it or they can choose to to embrace it.

Bingo right there, America doesn't often give the choice to reject. Anyway you think that is the only the world will live in peace? Trust even if we did incoporate this principle in every country in the world, how long do you think it will take before another argument arises. I believe the Cold War was not 'fought' on human rights but on two superpowers wanting more power and to be the greater power. Nothing to do with rights but human nature, greed is the key here. There is no solution to peace unless all follow one straight principle or view, and that there are no other beliefs or ideas and greed is eradicated, the world has tobe under one sole power for their to be peace because there is no enemy to fight with or to break the peace.

I agree greed is a sickness of this world, and it would take the people standing up against it by means of "boycott" and refusing to make these people more powerful by giving them more money.
Actually America used to give the choice of rejection, and that is how the Amish and Hopi live in peace here. This was protected by our rights. It was not until our government turned against their oath did this change. Their only purpose before this change was to protect and uphold our rights, not rule over us. The government worked for the people not against the people. That is what needs to happen again, and this time we need to lock the laws into place so that no man or mob an ever change those powers again. The government needs to return to it's role of steward, and allow the people to be free once again. This includes a persons right to live as an inferior , if they choose, though it is not the right of anyone to force them to live that way. If woman wishes to be subservant to a man she has that right, though that still does not give the right to the man to kill her, unless it is in self defense.
People can get along and disagree... we do it all the time here. yes there are conflicts, but for the most part we get along with all our different religions and beliefs and different views, due to our respect for human rights.

i 90% agree with that post. A government should be by the people, for the people and to the people. However a country should only interevene if the people of a country ask for help, not if you assume they are asking for help.

I agree to an extent.. I mean if there are people running around chopping up everyone with machetes, or putting their people in masses into gas chambers, and their government condones this ..that may be a valid reason to intervene without being asked. Now for the people to refuse to use technology because they believe they must keep their ways sacred for God, that is not a reason, if anything we should offer these people protection rather than trying to force eletricity down their throats.

Many Tribes, the Tibetians, The Amish, The Hopi .... Have you ever read about the Tablets of the Gods? You see The Hopi say that the reason this is this way is because all the religions are related. That each race was given a set of 2 tablets with their instructions from God, and that there would be select among them to keep these tablets sacred holding the information until the time comes to reveal it to the world, and they must hold on to their ways following the path less followed. That one day all of the tablets would be reunited and that all the people of the world will then come to know we are all " brothers". They believe the Tablets of fire were given to the white man and are kept in switzerland, That the tablets of the wind were given to the yellow man and are kept by the monks in tibet, that the tablets of water were given to the black man and are kept in a tribe in Kenya, and that the red man was given the tablets of the earth and they are kept safe by the Hopi. They believe these people are the " keepers " of God and their ways must be kept sacred, untainted by the ways of technology. According to them each race was given their own set of instructions different and unknown to the other , but there would come a time when they would be laid side by side.

Ah right ok but im guessing thats a very small religion...

yes , considering they were almost wiped to extintcion, when the English came to America. there are very few left. They live on a protected reservation, and claim to have been in contact with the other " keepers" from the other tribes. They even spoke before the UN ... lol
Yes, the apocalypse will come soon. Then all the women will look like this, in the new post-apocalyptic era. Of course there will also be zombies, and teh Japanese will unleash their evil robots.
You don;t seem to understand.. there is a reason for this. LOOk at our indians here in the US, they are allowed to live the way they want to live because of their religion. It is against their religion to take the road to technology, In their religion, that is Gods instructions. They should not be forced to live that way because someone else thinks it is good for them.
The Hopi as well as the people of tibet believe they are the "keepers" for God. Our government backed off for this reason, and so should theirs.
Enough with your mumbo jumbo.
When god told David Koresh that he and his disciples could declare independance from the U.S., your government did not "back off", it went in there and killed them.
Why do you expect the Chinese government to rule by different standards?
And no, the Indians in the U.S. where not allowed to declare independance either. Any of them who did were also killed.
The Chinese are quite a lot kinder to tibetans than the U.S. government was to the Indians.
That's because all the priests are desperatley trying to drag the country back into the stone age in exchange for political control. Not to mention encourage a civil war in one of the most famously unstable regions of all time. It's like Afghanistan there mate. The far edge of the civilisied world. It doesn't take much.
Yay the Dalai Lama is here! Yay! FFS.
He might cut a romantic figure but he is a bloke that rules a religion based on brainwashing and who's misguided goal is to divorce his people from it's primary source of wealth and health, personal freedom and security. He really isn't a transcendental semi deity who can levitate and bring peace to the earth through meditiation. He is a very dangerous man who can spark mass riots causing destruction of property and loss of life at a word.

When it was your Indians religion to not let the white man take their land. The white man killed them.
Your government didn't back off.
They were a peaceful tribe, they didn't put up much of a fight, but this was also told in their prophecy.. something did happen that caused them to back off from the Hopi... it is written in history. According to the indians the government met with a Hopi chief, and he revealed to the government the revelations of prophecy rock, and according to the indians, the government was afraid to spite God, and that was the end of the slaughter of the indians. Many tribes did fight, but not all of them. Many of the worst casualities were among the most peaceful tribes. The Hopi were given their "holy land" and that is where they live today.
The government stopped the assault on the indians without the consent of the majority of the people, most people had been raised to hate them, to fear them and did not understand them.
Any indian who declared independance form the U.S.A. was butchered. There was no "we respect your religion". There was genocide.
You are incorrect sir, have you ever been to a reservation? I can live on one. The "indian nation" is not subject the same laws ... you need to recheck your facts.
There was genocide, it was horrific beyond anything the world has seen since. there would be none left alive today if it had not been stopped, and no, the indians did not agree to live by " White mans laws" there was a compromise that stopped the slaughter.
And Baff, being the English man you are, you of all people should know these were your relatives. It was primarly americans of English decent that committed this atrocity.
The Dalai Lama and all his monks have to agree to live by Chinese Laws or there will be slaughter. Peace or war, it's their choice. None of my "known" relatives went to live in America before 1945. Not that it would make any difference to me if they did.
Fixed, you should know DNA proves otherwise. lol Many colonists were disowned by their families back in England for being outcasts.
YOu oppose what the English ancestors did to the Indians and condone what the chinese do to the tibetians now? we cannot change the past, we can only act in the present to affect the future.
What the Chinese do now is a crime against Humanity, not only should they be boycotted for this, The UN should protect these people, just as they protected the Jews from persecution from the Nazis. It is no different.

There is a difference between a guy stockpiling guns and sleeping with teenagers than a peaceful tribe that has practiced their religion for as long as they can remember... Though I do not agree in how the government handled that and was quite disgusted with the whole thing, that does not justify it, and yes, sir that is still the past, we cannot change that. what is happening to the tibetians is happening now. We can do something about that.
What peaceful tribe are you talking about now? I was under the impression it was the non peaceful ones that all got butchered. The ones that wouldn't surrender.
And no. You can't change what's happening to the Tibetans now.
You aren't going to split Tibet off from China. Those particular cold war goals won't ever happen. It's beyond your power.
It's none of your business, and if you make it your business they will kill you.
Get over it. You backed the losing side and in doing so all you've done is aggravate the misery and suffering and made it last longer. You justify the monks inciting the population to violence in the name of "humanity". Please, who are you trying to kid?

So we couldn;t stop what the germans were doing either by your reasoning. Some things are worth dying for. The Hopi have always been a peaceful tribe. Not everything has to be done with "force" boycotts work remarkably well. The tibetians are defending themselves, they are not the attacking force.
I am quite disgusted at your approval of these actions .. no one has the right to force technology on a people. If they want it fine, if they don;t why force them? I am not understanding why anyone could possibly think of this as a good thing.
Some things are worth dying for and somethings are not.
The Germans didn't have nukes.
And don't be thinking America went to war with the Germans to save the Jews. That's not how it happened. They had Jewish Slaves working in your Ford Factories for years. Americans didn't give a monkies about anyone but Americans. Still don't.
Force Technology on people?
WTF are you dribbling on about? Really, whatever are you talking about?
Are you suggesting that Chinese policemen are whipping peasant farmers if they don't use the wheel?
Tibetans love technology.
They didn't have any because up until the Chinese annexation in 1950's they had lived in a permanent state of civil war for thousands of years. Fuedalism. A medieval society. They love their mobile phones just like everyone else does. The have shooping malls and doctors and hospitals and schools and computers and cars and tractors and electricity and penecillin now. Thank you China.
America has do nothing to help in Tibet. It was all the great Chinsese people and their humanity.
The monks want a return to the bad old ways and the Chinese have the humanity to disallow it. You would do well to recognise how lightly they have trod in achieving this goal compared to your own nations responses to any independance movements.
Some things are worth dying for and somethings are not. The Germans didn't have nukes. Sometimes you have to face things you are afraid of, otherwise you are a coward. standing up for what you believe in is reason enough regardless of the consequences. And don't be thinking you went to war with the Germans to save the Jews. That's not how it happened. They had Jewish Slaves working in your Ford Factories for years. Americans didn't give a monkies. Why my country went to war is not the reason My family went to fight. What the soldiers fight for and what the country fights for are 2 separate things.
Force Technology on people? WTF are you dribbling on about? Really, whatever are you talking about? You claim the monks want to bring the country back to the dark ages, well should that not be okay if that is how they wish to live? If the people did not support it, why would they riot when told to do so by their leaders? why would they be fighting back?
No one is stopping the monks living a dark age lifestyle. They are free to.And they do. They are just stopping them dragging everyone else into the dark ages with them.
Tibet isn't a self sufficient country. It is entirely subsidised by the Chinese.
All they have comes from China.
The monks want independance from China so that they can be in control themselves. People will die. Not just in the civil disorder the monks keep instigating, or the anarchy and power vacuums that follow a revolution, or from the ensuing military crack down that China must enact if it wishes the rest of it's country to remain stable and unified, but from famine and the loss of modern medical practise.
Please get over your fairey tale of mystic peaceful monks bringing enlightenment and world peace to Eddie Murphy.
No culture in the world has ever done more for the poor and oppressed than the Chinese. None. No culture in history is even in their league. It's laughable that you should compare your country to theirs and talk about their lack of humanity. Totally comic.

I have no idea what you are talking about fairy tales .. It is their choice by human rights. It is not a fairy tale that these people have existed this way for many years without the intervetion of the chinese. If they choose to cut off the supplies from China so be it, it should be choice. I think forcing anyone to do something against their will is wrong, no matter your justification of it. Are the tibetians going into china trying to force them to do things? no, they are not the aggressors here. They only wish to live in peace.
Wouldn't China have more peace just letting them be? Why does CHina "need" tibet?

Evil Japanese robots:
Enough with your mumbo jumbo.
When god told David Koresh that he and his disciples could declare independance from the U.S., your government did not "back off", it went in there and killed them.
Why do you expect the Chinese government to rule by different standards?
And no, the Indians in the U.S. where not allowed to declare independance either. Any of them who did were also killed.
The Chinese are quite a lot kinder to tibetans than the U.S. government was to the Indians.
The Chinese government are positively saintly in their response to the Tibetans by comparison.
The Chinese brought peace, and they want to start revolution.
"God told me to do it", doesn't cut much mustard with me.
None of my relatives went to live in America before 1945.
Not that it would make any difference to me if they did.
Americans were right to unify the country under one government. Every stable country in history has had to do the same.
I don't oppose what your ancesters did to your other ancestors.
My ancestors did the same to my other ancestors.
The Chinese behaviour in Tibet is very different from what the Nazi's did to the Jews and what the American's did to the Indians.
Very, very different indeed.
There is no genocide. Get a grip on reality Mrs.
There has been no systematic slaughter of entire races.
Quite the opposite. When the Chinese took over, all the slaughter ended. They put a stop to it.
What is wrong with dressing like this? I do:

I am saying these people have a right to exist the way they always have, if it were the peoples choice would they choose the chinese or the monks for leadership? obviously the people there would rather have the monks.
