That's because a lot of eastern companies have understaffed translation services.
Take World of Warcraft, for instance. the Chinese version was released a little over 6 months after the US version. I really doubt Aion has so much more content than WoW that it requires 6 months longer.
I do not want to argue with you but Chinese its a real problem to lunch game over there so your exemple is not bad since we understand your meaning, but kinda worthless lol Chinesse refused to lunch WoW I heard in some of their country, and they are going to do that with many mmo.
I wouldnt want to be a chinesse player poor them, behind wiped out the map world
this games gonna suck in all languages. its WoW with wings.
Yea I know man. Totally. Wow with wings...and massive open world pvp, and attack animations that actually look, you know, animated. Oh and a graphical upgrade.

Take the Chinese version. While the Chinese Version has a Q3 release, the game is already in beta phase for quite some time now, so I assume the translation for that version is already complete or nearly complete, Why can't NCsoft do the same thing for NA/EU?
The only logical conclussion i can draw is that NCsoft's US/EU division translation team is much smaller than it's chinese counterpart. We're not talking about a game that has decided on a western release at the last minute, this game was planned for a western release for years now.
Ok, first lets understand something. The Chinese client for Aion is coming out before NA/EU. Probably the Japanese one as well. That isn't so bad, but it does cut into man-hours; unless you hire people specifically to do it. However, in case you haven't heard, not many companies world-wide are hiring for high paying jobs (unless you are a nurse) such as these right now, NCSoft included. That would lead to probably a delay of about a quarter or so. No biggy from their original intent of having it out by next month (think that date was from almost a year ago, not sure).
Then they DO hire a few of the american english teachers that are in Korea (only a few that haven't been kidnapped and shipped north, I suspect) to do voice overs. In their interaction with the "yanks/ euros", some on the dev team realize that more than just quests might need to be "westernized", because you see... these teachers would be their first western focus group. That causes a few more months. Before you know it, marketing starts scheming and looking for the most profitable release date, which might have it pushed back just a little more. This happens more often than you think.
Finally, there is a release. And believe it or not, it just happens to have more content than WoW at launch. I was there for WoW's launch... it was, pardon the pun, pretty "Barren". Not to mention broke. I say give NCSoft credit where it is due, and delaying Aion enough to "get it right" for each of their markets, shows a certain commitment rarely shown elsewhere.
Now their CS department is a whole other story....
Waiting for- Tera, Jumpgate Evo, WH40K, WWE, WOD, TSW -- -- "Hey, if Activision liked it, then they should have put a ring on it," Double Fine President Tim Schafer said. "Oh great, now Beyonce is going to sue me too."
