I have played MMO's for quite sometime and for the most part really enjoyed myself,The last 2 or 3 years has been something more of a waiting game for me,I keep hoping the next game will be the 1 that will keep me hooked for years to come but I am for the most part always let down.
The likes of AoC ok it had a terrible start but after quite a few months I went back and really enjoyed leveling to 80,then came the end game...dear ohh dear,I couldnt believe some of the bosses were just entering the instances and fighting the boss, some other instances were just pulling a couple of mobs into the same room you never left ...then fighting the boss.
Some may come down on me that I mention WoW but even in vanilla WoW you could spend an entire night having fun in really fun instances like strat(dead/undead),UBRS,etc.
I know some may say you could enter Onyxia and kill a couple of mobs then fight the boss,at least there was a really fun and long quest chain to be able to do that..
I now find myself waiting for the next game to release and hoping it is the 1 for me(time and time again)hell I wish they could just bring out something that shinned like EQ1.
Anyway where do you guys stand?
Are you playing and loving a MMo or just waiting for another MMo?
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Good thought. I guess I am an MMO waiter. Its actually a lot of fun waiting even if its stressfull. The game always seems to blow though. Waiting for Mortal Online now. I have high hopes but at this point I know how it goes lol
Playing: EVE, WAR, Cybernations lol
Yep thats why I thought I would make this thread,I think like me there are alot of "player's" that have (for lack of a better word)..fun waiting for a game than they do playing it.
It is a very strange concept but it seems something we have settled into these days,I hope it doesnt continue and games start to grip us for more than there hype, anyway I just thought it would be nice to see where the gamming community is at this moment in time.

Player.
WoW for the casual PvE fix. EvE for the PvP fix.
I find that the best way to enjoy any MMO is moderation; hopping on for an hour or two rather than playing for 7 hours a day .. keeps the game experience fresh and fun while also helping stave off that feeling of burnout. I tend to try most mainstream new games, but I keep going back to WoW and EvE as my two preferred MMO's.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
The last MMORPG I thought was fun, was City of Heroes. It wasn't deep or complex, but I started playing and started having fun right away.
The last disappointment was WAR. I was really waiting for this one, tried it, and found the quest grind no fun, the Public Quests not very interesting (although it sounded good on paper) and the PvP sadly lacking because of all the emphasis instanced PvP.
I dont see anything on the horizon worth trying till TOR releases.
Yep I'm just waiting to see how Cryptic releases STO...baited breath and all that...I'm a waiter...currently

The only MMO I've ever played was WoW, and I'm never going back. From the look of things, there isn't going to be another MMO that I will enjoy for a long time, so I'm sticking to other genres for now.
MMO player.
im not gonna wait and hype myself up for a new MMO, most wont have what it takes anyway.
my MMO history is 3 years of eqoa 3 years of wow a few months active in eq2 now and ive played about any MMO around to test it and see whats up.
eqoa was my first 3d mmo and it spoiled me abit, but that enviroment and the feel of the game was tremendously awsome evrything there was a chalange and staying alive was crucial because if u died you would be setback at leats 8 hours of leveling on the higehr levels, things where a chalange. wich brings me to EQ2 wich imo is equal as good. it got abit less hard in terms of death and xp penalty but you need to group up to get stuff done wich is what a MMO is all about.
WoW ive been a raider pre tbc did all bosses was very active in PVP asswell and life was great. TBC hits the enviroment got an upgrade i liked what they did with most of the zones but the raiding got abit worse. most bosses where less chalenging then what was fought before exept a few (about 1 per dungeon). woltk the enviroment the lore the mobs evrything was so awsome but on the other side evrything got worse. class balance wich used to be the best in a game died in wotlk. raiding got even more easy wich is retarded (for people who have been in another thread and regocnize this, i want to say that the achievments are jsut optional you have the option to do stuff the hard way instead of having a boss be ahrd like it should. its retarded). PvP arena system evrything failed.
So now, im playing EQ2 abit on the casual side but trying hard to get up with the bigger guys. enjoying the enviroment the feeling of the game wich imo the EQ series has been unrivaled at.
like i said above a new MMO, no thank you unless you can create a world wich is exactly a world wich feels like something difrent then any other game (Warhammer has succeeded in doing this at leats in the greenskin/dwarven areas.)
Been playing EVE for almost 2 years and still enjoying it. Also playing ROM as a diversion.
I'm always waiting for my next game, not interested in long term commitments, I like variety.

Also 'waiting', currently I only have an active WOW account and I've not really played on it for months, while the son plays pretty much every day. I imagine we're in the minority, the global market is huge (even if most are on WOW) although I could be easily convinced that the great many of these are also waiting for something better!
The question is... what are we waiting for?
I guess something different for each of us.
And while the giants are busy with a formula that 'may' produce 11 million players we may continue to wait a while longer yet.
I'm a waiter. There's a couple upcoming titles that look like they may be interesting, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
I might try out Darkfall, if it ever becomes more accessable...but not going to stress over it. It seems to have what I am looking for in an MMORPG, but I'm not going to jump through hoops to play it.
I just can't stand most modern MMOs. Until the genre returns to it's roots, and starts providing us with virtual worlds to play in instead of linear, scripted experiences, I probably won't be playing anything.
You forgot, "loving the game I'm playing and waiting for new ones"
Dont make it too difficult or we could have 40 different options, just tick the playing and enjoying a game option.
Edit-The option to vote on"I just clicked on this page by mistake" was just for people to see the results but I forgot the "but I want to see the results"part....my bad

Playing.
Playing DDO and CoH at the moment. I really like both games, especially the realtime combat in DDO, but I'm really waiting to see what Earthrise, Champions, Global Agenda and Aion have to offer.
The best game I've played to date was TR and I suppose my biggest disappointment was it's closure. Game wise the worst buzzkill for me was WoW. It just wasn't the game I thought it was.
Tried a few F2P games like RoM and such. RoM is pretty good for a free MMO and I may dip into it from time to time. Not like it costs anything. I may try Perfect worlds as I'm a big fan of Asian style combat animation.
I'm really waiting for a big Sci-fi MMO to fill the hole that TR left in my life so I will most likely end up on Earthrise.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy.

Ive always een a player and not a watcher.... I have only played one game at launch and that was WoW......All others I researched and did my homework on before buying/trying......games are just so overhyped anymore and 99 percent of them released with too many bugs/issues....Its better just to wait a few months but most cant seem to do that.
Waiter
for the new square enix mmo "rapture"
and i was waiting for aion but ive gotten bored of it
Ditto on this.
But ill add I do still try the new MMO's for the sole purpose of trying to pass the time until the SE MMO is released. ATM I am currently DLing TCoS.

Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI
Just biding my time, waiting. Waiting for them to overcome the casting lag problem in WAR. Ruined the game for me. The moment I decided to uninstall it and cancel was when I had one dsynch too many on my sorc. Just watched that bar disappear about a second after my cast hit it's target one last time, then I was like...no. No more. I'll just wait until they get it sorted.
Still just following the posts and watching the game boards to see if they ever get it ironed out. Unfortunately they haven't the faintest idea how to do it yet according to everything they're saying. So the wait continues. Funny too, In the meantime I download and play free trials, demos, free to play etc...and just sit in amazement as there is no casting lag, even when playing on servers across the ocean, in almost all games I try. Unfortunately, the only game I really want to play is WAR! (love Warhammer) So I wait, disks just sitting here in a drawer, until they hire someone smart enough to fix something that even amateur free games get right. Not paying a dime more to them until they do, but will be happy to once they've fixed it.
I'm waiting for a good mmo. In the meantime, I'm back to reading sci fi novels, sculpting and doing odds and ends around the house. Honestly if I never play another mmo I would be better off. It takes too much time.
I like to think im in Mmo Retirement.
Will a game pull me out of retirement again?
I had been Retired for 2 years when WAR launched and thought
it might be the one........
HA!!!!
I'm not playing anything at the moment in terms of MMOs. I'm waiting on Champions Online, Star Wars the Old Republic, and Global Agenda mostly. There are a few others I'm looking forward to if those don't work out for whatever reason, but I'm confident that at least one of those three will be good enough to keep my attention for multiple years.
My current play time is spent in TF2 and DOTA.
