Heh. 21% of people are in the same boat I am as I write this - waiting until a decent game comes out.
My mostly short explanation on why I'm waiting.
World of Warcraft - was playing this, finished out PvE content, discovered PvP was seriously unbalanced and unfun unless you were a DPS class who PvE Epic'd up and got the headstart to get resilience gear that non DPS'ers couldn't get while they wore their PvE gear. Also, the game is over 4 years old and the Devs are still groping in the dark trying to find their asses with both hands when it comes to simple game mechanics rules for the characters. Lol at Bear Shield Proc slapped-on-guess change and "we're really not sure HOW much mana regen raiding healers should have... We'll guess and make more changes?"
C'mon. Four years to get the game basics down for the classes, and they still don't know what they want.
City of Heroes - was playing this as well. absolutely awesome game for when it came out, what it tried to accomplish, and the numerous successes it had in reaching goals it set for itself. Fantastic free updates and additional content too. Can't say enough good things about this game, excepting that it has no end game content to keep a player interested with their max-level character for even a couple of months.
PvP is a total afterthought letdown as well - which is a shame as it would have gone the distance in keeping a player interested at end game.
Age of Conan - barely missed purchasing the game at launch, and wow am I ever glad I saved that money after playing a trial.
Warhammer Online - I had hoped for a DAoC 2 attempt with this game, as DAoC was absolutely fantastic for what it tried and accomplished. Even if the Devs didn't know what the hell they wanted with their classes, like WoW, but not quite to the same extent. Warhammer Online is NOT a DAoC 2 attempt - and that sucks 'cause what it DID give a player fell sooooo short of what Mythic could have done with the experience they had learned.
Darkfall Online didn't even get my attention - it looked like a under publicized vaporware half-game looking for a place to surface out of the mire of obscurity. And the graphics looked... less than impressive.
I guess I'm waiting on KOTOR Online, hoping it won't suck horribly. But in my heart of heart, I wish for a D&D 3.5 or 4.0 based MMORPG that has an actual game world to explore, with multiclassing rules intact. Maybe Guildwars 2 will supply what I'm looking for there.
Waiting for now, last game I tried was DDO and while it is a unique game I just couldn't get into it, Waiting on TOR, but may give Champions a try since I was a huge COX fan.
DOAC is still the MMO I judge other games by, My first and still my favorite.
Well I know this poll should be taken with a pinch of salt but even with only 100 votes it would seem there are more ppl waiting for a MMo than there are enjoying 1,I guess we still all love the idea of MMo play and are not ready to give up on the genre(why would be here otherwise),though for all the MMo's out there maybe the "Playing and loving the game I am on" option should be a bit higher.
Anyway thanks for the votes,I do find it interesting to see where the MMo community is at this moment.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
Waiter atm. I'm waiting on Star Wars the Old Republic and Star Trek Online. It will be awhile until they are released so I'm hoping something decent (Champions Online maybe) will come along soon to help keep me occupied until they are done.
Waiter as many others, i've played many P2P and tried F2P but i'm done with the same mmorpg system...i'm trying to see a different and innovative mmorpg and not just another new "old" release with sightly better graphics and worse quality. Hopefully MO will be good enough to attract me, tho i don't expect anything impressive anytime soon.
I was one of the few that actually liked Tabula Rasa and once that went down... well... i've tried everything from eve to wow (currently installing POTBS) and i just can't find a game that keeps my interest. so i'm waiting on a few games to come out. Fallen Earth, Earthrise, star wars.
I was playing LoTRO. I played about a dozen MMO's prior to LoTRO.
I am mostly playing Atlantica Online and Lords of Evil at the moment. I am also trying another 4 games (Ogame, Space Invasion, Astroempires, Galaxy Online and Space Invasion) but they are not really the game for me. It is fun to try some games with a dfiferent game style. They may not appeal to everyone, but every now and then you find a game you like.
There are a few other online games I would like to try if I had more time.
There are lots of online games to chose from, just try a few until you find a game you like.
I'm a player.. But I am also a gamer, so when there are no MMO's worth subscribing to (P2P's) I find a decent F2P (DECENT...lol) and play some xbox 360 games (been on Street Fighter IV and waiting for godfather 2)...
Currently I am finding myself hooked on a little asian grinder called Three Kingdoms. RvR.. Typical F2P but its fun so I dont mind the grind.

You're not alone and I feel your pain.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy. ______________________________ "This kind of topic is like one of those little cartoon boxes held up by a stick on a string, with a piece of meat under it. In other words, bait."
MMO waiter now. I so tried getting back into WAR but the game just seriously lacks in class balance and fun. Currently waiting for Champions Online, The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2 mmos.
Some people seem to have more fun waiting for the next big thing. And waiting, and waiting. Oooh, there's one! Nope, false alarm, back to waiting, and waiting...

Playing WoW and played it since 2005, still loving it.
Never forget and will always miss Pre CU- & NGE SWG. Played it for almost 3 years. Will always love that game.
Played EQ2 for 6 months. But never found it to my liking.
Tried but just lost interest fast in theese games:
AOC, WAR, GuildWars, COH, LOTRO
Waiting for nothing really. Wow is still entertaining. Will obviously try next Blizz game. And in between I look at old SWG screenshots and misses my friends in the once galaxy far far away and the awesome sandbox game that had deserved to live.
I started playing MMO's with Ultima Online. Now that game for me was incredible, you could make an all around character who was more than capable of surviving on his own. And I don't know there was such a feeling of freedom in that game. Some of my best gaming memories would definately be playing UO. The next MMO I played was WoW and I'm not going to lie I enjoyed it but whenever I would max out on levels I would totally just lose interest and quit playing.
I'm always looking for a new game to play, but not one has even caught my eye for years... Is it just me or have there been no good games that have come out for a while, and I'm not only talking about MMO's, games in general. I'm really dissapointed with the games I've seen over the years. I used to think, "damn, if they're making good games like this now, imagine what the games will be like in 5 years... and 5 years have passed and there's nothing..
When, oh when will there be a game that will just blow me away like UO in the old days?
EDIT:
I just read about Dragon Age, and watched some videos and I've got my eyes on that now!
Yeah, that would be so sweet if it had a co-op. Seems to me like those older games, while they didn't have great graphics had so much more depth. Me, I choose depth over graphics any day.
Why can't they make something with both...? hopefully Dragon Age is the one!

Just wanted to comment you on your poll. Well done. Too many around here are trash.

I think I'm the only one here playing a MMO (CoV), waiting for a single player game, Dragon Age. Looking forward to that way more than any MMO.
Waiter atm. I'm waiting on Star Wars the Old Republic and Star Trek Online. It will be awhile until they are released so I'm hoping something decent (Champions Online maybe) will come along soon to help keep me occupied until they are done.
Waiter.
No P2P with the mechanics I like and nothing F2P with security and/or not abusive cash shop.
waiter.. swtor, warhammer 40k. new blizz mmo, few others on lookout too

Have been a waiter since NGE hit SWG Now 2005.
Now i have Darkfall since Januari (beta) and love it. So four years without a good MMO.
Waiter and Dragon Age is going to rock!!!

I tried ROM it is a nice MMO for f2p and i will spend some time there it is worth a try .
Waiting for a new fresh MMO i guess hope someone comes up with something new and fresh soon.
