Do you know what sold out means? Have you ever wanted something new and it was sold out? This phenomenon usually occurs around Christmas, but has been known to crop up now and again.
They didn't botch anything. ALL MMOs have server issues - get over it (ESPECIALLY smaller companies). The fact that they are SOLD OUT of copies does NOT constitute messing anything up. Putting up additional servers isn't as easy or cheap as you think. Also, they are probably making sure everything on ONE server is working fine before they put up more. People are so spoiled these days (looking at you WAR!).
I'm not saying whether or not the game is good, but seriously stop trolling.
Really? Then why isn't WoW "sold out"?
You do know it's download only, and there aren't any boxes or DVDs to make. Right?
its called supply and demand, it kind of makes sense on what AV is trying accomplish more and more people want to play, so they limit the product sales to keep people wanting to play
Actually, it causes the opposite. This is not like a Gucci pocket book that's hard to find, which makes it more desireable. The longer they wait, the more subs they lose, IMO.
LOL. Trying to do a fantasy mmo post-wow has got to be the most pitiful and degrading thing human beings can do in this world. The problem is they see the vast number players and the $$ that blizzard brings in and just can't help themselves. What folly and shame greed and unoriginality yields for us.

Don't be stupid, i beg of you.
What was so stupid about that? Without saying whether or not the game is good, it is BRAIN DEAD OBVIOUS that they only have one server for now and are selling LIMITED COPIES, which continually SELL OUT. This is the most obvious thing yet people just keep trolling on and on about it. It's rather pathetic that some people feel they need to try and say a game is bad and discourage people from playing it without any reason pertaining to the actual game (and no, I'm not currently playing and probably won't try it out for a long time).
As our friend Mrbloodworth so very kindly trying to point out to you was this...
You are making yourself look stupid. You really should stop before you make it worse.
Yes they have only 1 server. However you CAN NOT SELL OUT of a digital download. It can be switched off, which is the case now. When AV gets the desired amount of players on the server, they cut off sales to the game. They didn't sell out of anything, they just will not let you in.
As far as I can remember back, this is the first game to actually do this and for this long a time span.
I highlighted in red everything you said that was stupid. I hope you do not mind.
*PS - Do not call people idiots, in your case it is the pot calling the kettle black.
I have 4 bridges to sell people...whoops. All ready sold out! the demand must be so high! Ill open the shop tomorrow and sell more...oops! Sold out already....gosh, thems are some nice bridges. I ask everyone to just keep waiting in line... as soon as one of the bridges falls down becomes available, i will sell more.

Anyone that is defending Aventurine's way of releasing the game is either kidding and having some fun, or really really really in love with the game / company.
The way they are releasing is a limited release. By limited, I refer to having one sever open. Why is the bad you ask?
It is bad because this is not the way these games are released. Any MMO company with eye balls can look at any sale record of another MMO company to see that at release, there is on average 400,000 players buying the game, then most getting narrowed down to 150-200k (which is relatively successful). When Darkfall released, Tasos claimed that they 'underestimated the amount of people interested in the game.' The official forums had like 200,000 members. The beta signups were in the hundred thousands, yet they underestimated by a factor of a 100.
Aventurine also hosted a stress test. A stress test is what an MMO company uses to test how much their servers can hold during certain events, times, and a general consensus. It was rumored that they most they had in the stress test was around 3,000 people. Tasos said the servers can withstand 10,000 at once. Rumor has it they also used NPCs to fill the missing players.
When the game was released, Tasos said that they did not expect any of the problems that came when around 3,000 people were online at once.
Whether you like it or not, the game was handled extremely poorly during release. There isn't question when it comes to that. Even now, however long since release, the sales are still not available.
Now I'm not a network specialist, a programmer, but I have a basic understand of computers and servers. Because Darkfall is set up in serverclusters, it is a highly complex structure. But really, it has been over 7 years. You don't buld a house and then pick it up and put it on a foundation, you create the foundation first.
Anyway if you really looking forward to the game why not be patient and wait a while for the game to settle and iron out some issue's they seem to have, why the hurry to get into the game when you just like me and anyone else can read about the issue's, if it was me looking forward I would definitly wait some more time before getting into that game, but hey thats just me.......
People who are willing to put up with the crap Aventurine has been doing, do so because they really, really want to play the game. They know the problems that they will encounter and simply do not care.
Ever since I heard about Rockstar working on GTA4 I couln't wait to play it, regardless anyone else his/her view, then the game got released on console first, thought to myself and talked with a few rl friends about how I felt, which was I felt it sucked, anyway even though I am active on several gameforums, never did it cross my mind to start screaming on forums about how I felt, then the game got released on pc, finaly, bought it the day it was released, installed it, yet couldn't play, wel I could but hardly saw 2 feet in front of me, sound where ackward, constant flickering of blocks , first thought was "me needs to upgrade my rig", but Crysis came, and could play that game without any problems, found info seeing more people had similar issue's, so I waited....patiently.....to hear something from Rockstar about patch/update, about 2 weeks after I bought it a new Nvidia driver was released which made the game bareble to me, few day's later Rockstar released a patch and made the game just awesome, yet still didn't goto forums and insulted Rockstar like I saw many do.
you realize thats one freakin long sentence there? ;D

HOwever, aventurine is not caving in to the qill of the furious trolls to open up more slots. To do so will impact the game playability. They will take the slings and arrows of the forums while maintaining the integrity of the game. All the while working to get a new server (s) online

Dude, wake up and smell the empty bank account. It's not about the integrity of the game, or impacting game playabiity. They don't have money for another sever.
Let's say I buy a car for 10 dollars, which is all my money. Now I rent that car for 1 dollar a day. I am making a dollar a day (yipee!) but I am broke.
Now, you come to me and say, I want rent a car too! I would love to rent you a car! I will then make 2 dollars a day! But you will have to wait at least 10 days, when I have enough money to buy another car.
Or do you think I wouldn't rent you a car, because I'd be worried about the integrity of the first car, adn the driveability? No, I'd just be broke, but I'd certainly rent you a car just as soon as I made enough money to buy one.
Now, what if I started out with 100 dollars, so I could buy 10 cars, and rent each of them for a dollar a day? Well, I'd make a heck of a lot more money, but that's moot, since I only had 10 bucks, enough to buy one car.

Haven't you heard? Aventurine is not out to make money. Their goal is to create a piece of art for the hardcore PvP'ers. The employees dont care about their salary, as long as they know that the fans love their game and are enjoying their content.
So much love and care...
The rules of Debate are really simple; once you have to stoop to insults instead of facts, logic, or reason to try and win your argument, you've lost.
Noone knows what Aventurine are doing. The only thing we do know is that they currently sets the game before sales. They seems not to give a fuck that many wants it.
Thats a new motto for business? I agree with the making sure the game is stabel fun etc, but why release it and limit sales...pretty ridiculous if you ask me, although from what i heard they went bankrupt and had no choice.
Regardless they should give a fuck what players want, as there current motto will lead players astray kinda like what happend when SOE took the fun out of SWG.

I went to buy today when the AV gods deemed us worthy of sales, and I kept getting a card transaction failure. I tried 3 times, no dice. I then check my card online later, and bam $150 of charges to AV. And did I get a subscription? Nope.
What's it going to take for you people to realize this game is about as low budget as they get in the genre? Move along already and do yourselves a favor. Sheesh!

This game is actually pretty good! I originally thought it was of course great business sense to restrict access to a game that's just not ready
Let's face it- most people are bitches. They whine and whine and whine. So it's just good common sense to restrict access to a product that may not be fully ready to handle 10,000 people on one server.
I think they are taking big risks going for a full seamless FPS type combat system so I'd limit access as well. However, were I differ with AV I would have extended Beta much longer provided that I had the funds.
But if I didnt have the funds to remain in closed beta I would do what they are doing. However, I'd make sure the billing system was a lot more solid.
However, it's much better to piss off people by not letting them in rather then charge these whiners money (along with PRESS), and get slammed
You only get ONE SHOT with most people. So it's plain common sense too me. It shouldn't take a mental genius to figure out why they are doing things this way. Anyone remember Shadowbane?! How many of you went back?

I went to buy today when the AV gods deemed us worthy of sales, and I kept getting a card transaction failure. I tried 3 times, no dice. I then check my card online later, and bam $150 of charges to AV. And did I get a subscription? Nope.
What's it going to take for you people to realize this game is about as low budget as they get in the genre? Move along already and do yourselves a favor. Sheesh!
on you card name space dont put more that 15 characters
