Every fan made video is always narrative and not self centered like in other games which is an evidence of "Sharing individuality in a collective reality"style of EvE.
I wish their next project will follow the same route.
In the land of Predators, the lion does not fear the jackals...
Are you saying that people actually complained when they introduced "Warp to 0"? OMG I thought that was the greatest thing to ever happen to EVE! I actually started liking the game after that. Before warp to 0 I could never keep an account open for more than a month without cancelling. Now that we have warp to ) I have had 3 accounts all been active ever since then!!!!
(sorry, just wanted to trim down the unrelated megaquote we had going on)
But actually yeah, surprisingly there was a huge uproar about the whole thing. Mainly from so called "pirates" whos entire existence depended on gate camping. Most of the good ones didn't care. I think you'll find most people see it as a marked improvement now though, especially since it's only useful if you're going to manual your way to a location. To be honest though, I think the CCP team probably appreciates it the most, simply for ridding themselves of the database crushing bookmarks people were making to warp to 0 anyway.
Back on topic.. I think Darkfall has the potential to grow into something similar to EvE, from a pure gameplay perspective. After filtering out all the 'I got ganked QQ' crap the feedback I've heard regarding it has been almost entirely positive and seems to have very similar gameplay dynamics - sure it's fantasy but you still have the same level of risk, a similar economy, player-controlled territory, player politics, etc.
I think in five years time it could become the iconic fantasy sandbox, sort of how EvE is the big sci-fi sandbox game everyone points to as an example of how to do things.
As for real-time combat (ala Jumpgate) - I don't know. I'm thirty years old, my reflexes aren't as good as they used to be and I was never particularly good at FPS games anyway, and I actually prefer EvE's more tactical, psuedo-hands-off approach. I think that as the age of the average MMO gamer creeps up we'll see a big split between fast action, twitch games, and slower, more tactical and strategic games. More than we are now.
Infinity is a total unknown right now, may be good or may not. Black Propehcy however is made by Reakkotor, the guys that made Neocron and their track recored based on Neorcon says to me that BP will be garbage.
Yeah that list I posted earlier-- Infinity has all those features (I think). I helped test the combat simulator for ita couple times thanks yall just reminded me. Was great fun
I havent been following it too close lately tho seemed progress was slow

darkfall could have been so mush but they just did a bad job, hopefully they will fix it up and make it to its full potential
God i hope they do come out with another MMO like eve...such a great game! The market and the harvesting and the big open world...makes me want to cry b/c of games like Warhammer and what not

There will never be a game like EvE.
1.CCP created a World not just a game
2. No Server segregation
3.Player driven economy
4.Political intrigue
5. EvE is a living breathing world

Check out Black Prophecy and Infinity
Both are very "eve like"

I hope to be proven wrong though.
Well from what ive read BP looks like it could be a very promising game, So hopefully they do not screw up.
I just signed up for BETA yesterday so will see.
And from the information on Infinity I do like the idea of being able to set up minning stations on Planets as well, very cool.
Infinity does look like it has potential.
