I just started playing WoW again after my friend gave me a 10 day recruit a friend trial. I started on the PvP server (Blackrock) and while I was out leveling I saw a few hordes roaming around so I decided to kill them. After doing so, they get so mad they log in to their main characters (which so happens to be camped in the same zone) and chases after me. Kills me a few times, so I decided to change characters for a bit, later on maybe about 40 minutes later I log back and and the dude was still sitting by my corpse lol. I dont mind them killing me, but why get mad about dying when you're playing a PvP server? There are times when you're in some noob towns doing quests or whatever it is that you're doing and a few 80's comes along and just kills everything for no apparent reason I guess (I dont see the fun in killing people 60 levels below you) but it just gets boring sometimes having to deal with them coming around. Other than that, Im pretty much enjoying WoW, for what its worth...It brought back good old memories.
It's called deterence. It will make you think twice abotu attacking another character of theirs. What you did might have been fun and games to you but was an annoyance to the other guy. So he treated you as he would a mosquito and squished you till he was sure you were nto coming back.
Unless you are dueluing or doing arena style PvP, you need to assume that any PvP action on your part will result in full on retaliation as far as the game rules allow. If you fail to realize that, you will be quite frustrated. In a PvP environment it is the one who is willing to escalate the situation the furthest that usually wins.
I can see where you're coming from, but the areas where its neutral is bound to have some sort of clash. Those guys saw me go after em, they fought back, we're about the same level. I wasn't ganking them, it was fair and square. But the losers always tend to have some kind of grudge for being the loser, and to that point they would do anything to get their "honor" back I guess.
See the difference with me is, even if I did have a level 80 char ( which I dont) I wouldnt retaliate by logging in just to kill the other guy. I would've respawn buff up and try again. There's a reason why they have honor points. You cant get any if you're 60 levels over the other. I wanted honor kill points thats why I killed the other guy. He was even 2 levels above me. I dont hold grudges, it kills the whole fun factor for me. The only thing I fail to see is how a "veteran" guy playing thier toons would get angry, which in fact they should already know how PvP is. No regrets here though I had fun, and would definitely do it again.

This fight was not about 'honour'. You encrouched on his 'territory' (attacked his low level alt) so he took out the big fly swatter and swatted you. It was pure power politics. He had the power to remove an annoyance so he did it with as much force as he could.
Open World PvP is not about honour, it is about who can kill the other guy. You start putting concepts like honour into it and you are limiting your options. If you want 'fair' fights then duel and play arenas. If you Play To Win then your objective is to crush your opponents and make them unwilling to attack you.

You're right, he killed me with his level 80. The whole point of killing opponents is to get honor points, how else are you going to get PvP gear? You're not making any sense. What good would I do in the arena at level 20? Theres no one at the arena under level 60, at least when I go. And BTW I play to have fun, winning is just a plus. By all means come and kill me with you're level 80 characters, I'll still respawn and move on or go back and fight, like I said no regrets here.
If you enjoy going around low level towns killing players, good for you, it makes you feel superior I guess. Its not going to stop people from trying to have fun though.

You are still using a way too narrow view of the situation. Honor points are pretty much meaningless in world PvP. If you want to farm honor points you can jump into a quick battleground and get more in a few minutes than camping a level 20 would ever get you.
You attacked his alt for fun. However, he obviously did not find that fun. He was doing something else with that character and your attack interfered with it. So in order to make sure that you did not interfere with him again he stumped you down. I am sure he then went back to doing what he was doing when you interfered with his fun.
Whenever you attack someone in world PvP you need to realize that your opponent might not find what you are doing particularly fun and not consider yoru worthy of a 'fair' response. Just as I will not give a mosquito a fair fight they might decide to jsut swat you aside to teach you a lesson. Tehy are not going to let someoen like you stop them from having fun in the game.

As evidenced in this thread most people feel that pvp has no place MMOs.
