if you die at a computer game, you are one stupid person, anyway. they completely deserve what happens to them. i dont even understand how you could do that.
All they deserved was a righteous kick under their behind for playing as much. They did NOT deserve to die.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree on that one.
If someone sticks their head in a bears mouth, and it gets bitten off, they deserved to die. If you put yourself in a dangerous situation, and die as a result of said situation, pity cannot be the expected result from those that bare witness to your ignorance.
I really don't see why I should allow someone else to dictate what I can and can not do on my own time in my own home because someone else is a dumbass and gets themselves killed because they don't know how to log off of a video game.
The government should not be a babysitter, even if that means the people who need to be babysat can't function at a basic level to do things like eating and sleeping. We don't need those people anyway.
If you are so addicted to a game that you refuse to eat, sleep or go outside you honestly deserve to die. MMOs are not at fault here and cannot be blamed for stupid people making stupid decisions.
Why aren't there more warnings in and out of game to take breaks? Why has no-one been held accountable or sued? Is it because most of them are Asian and no-one cares? Is it because no-one wants to believe that a game can take over someone's live so much that only someone with "no self-control" will die? Why aren't more people asking questions like me?!
1) Because the presumption is you are mature enough to look after yourself and you have some grasp of personal responsibility.
2) Why should a company be sued because some obsessive dimwit harms themself by playing non-stop? If you drink yourself to death, that's YOUR fault, not the people who fill the bottles.
3) I must admit, I could care less. The region on the planet is irrelevant.
4) Because until people get a grip and stop blaming other people for their mind-numbing stupidity, I'm not interested in the question, never mind the answer.
its pretty stupid to play an MMO non stop while ignoring your bodily urges, if you die while gaming who's fault is it, Clearly your own.
I dont even bat an eye when people die while gaming, its a preventable death, its not a freaking hurricane or an earthquake, its some guy who has no self control being unable to decide where he should get that last level or eat breakfast.
Ive got no sympathy for those people.

This reminds me of something I heard back in (elementary?) school about kids killing themselves because their Dungeons & Dragons character died in a campaign and they took it too seriously. The common threead between these topics? These are very likely emotionally disturbed individuals who use these games as an escape from their real life. Anyone who cannot pull themselves away from a game every few hours to eat or use the bathroom needs serious psychological help.
This urban legend may have been based on a 70's movie with Tom Hanks, it was called The Maze I think, where this DnD kid thought the game was real. There was a lot of paranoia about Dungeons and Dragons in late 70's and 80's. But I agree with your statement no one dies because of a video game or anything really they die because they already are quite disturbed.
There was another shooting recently by a kid, a police officer was quoted saying: he probably though he enacting a video game. Have stupider words ever been uttered? Well probably.. >.> The police chose to say this but not mention the teen's father had just killed himself and he was feeling isolated from the rest of his grieving family..
But it couldn't be grief mixed in with depression, it's those darn video games. Same thing with people dieing in front of their monitors, no one ever mentions what their family and home lives are like it would be interesting to know that.
There are a lot of mentally ill people out there. It's not a suprise some of them latch onto video games as their addictive medium.
VIdeo games are not the cause, but the sympton. The people who play until their lives are ruined or worse, have underlying and serious issues that go far beyond video games.
A person who plays so much that he dies of dehydration or shock is not a "dumb" person, or a person hypnotized by video games. It is a sick individual, probably clinically depressed and with severe mental issues, no longer capable of taking care of him/herself..
Why aren't there more warnings in and out of game to take breaks? Many MMOs now have a notices that comes up after an hour or two of playing. Unfortunately, some people are stupid enough that this has become a necessity for them. Why has no-one been held accountable or sued? Someone is stupid enough to play a video game until he drops dead, and you feel that is the developer's fault? Is it because no-one wants to believe that a game can take over someone's live so much that only someone with "no self-control" will die? A video game can't take over a person's life. An idiot however can let any escape, even the most otherwise innocuous ones, consume him. Why aren't more people asking questions like me?! Do you really want the answer to that?

You can die skiing, you can die hiking, you can die playing sports.
People die.
If someone doesn't want to take the time to take care of themselves then it's probably better for the gene pool The only issue is that when people don't take care of themselves and the paramedics have to pick up their bodies, then cost goes to the public.

I guess if you have to put warnings on mmorpg boxes...
That you should eat and drink every so often...
Sleep every now and then
etc...
Then that would pretty much explain why mmorpg's have had to be dumbed down so much lately....
I learned today that you can die in a car accident...omfg I can't leave the house to go to work now, but most accidents happen in the home...how does my car get into the house...and more importantly, how does the other vehichle in the accident?
Grouping in Old school mmo's: meeting someone at the bar and chatting, getting to know them before jumping into bed. Current mmo's grouping: tinder. swipe, hookup, hope you don't get herpes, never see them again.
As far as I am concerned, it's the same as taking a knife and putting it through your own heart. Whatever the reason, they have forfeited their lives. Not saying that they deserved it, just that it is their own fault.

Don't forget china is not a democratic country. People there dont elect their president. They act by the same rules. They want as much control over the people as they can, including game time.
Nobody cares because it is the players own idiotic fault they die playing.
Nobody can be sued because it is the players own fault. You can hardly sue a lollipop company justg because you decide it would be a good idea to jam the stick into your eye, piercing the brain. it really is on the same level of idiocy.
Nobody wants restrictions or needs restrictions because we all know when we've been playing so long we're about to die.
You mean if i shit my pants because i was too lazy to get up its my fault? I thought it was the plumbing companys fault and the people who make toilets because the toilet didnt come to me. I am going to file a petition.

It's okay because its their own decision. If you have no self control then you have nobody to blaim but yourself.

Anyone who sits by the pc and plays games 24/7 12 months out of the year needs serious help but hey that was their decision not ours.
