50 copies in 10 days.  thats lower sales than... well... honestly thats lower sales than most everything.  worldwide, 5 copies per day, its such an incredibly small number compared to any MMO that has been out for a similar amount of time.

whats that? I can't compare it to games like AION that have sold 1million copies in china alone?  ok how about EVE?  its been out for 6 years and its population has increased by about 50k in 1 year.  that is a net increase, so they've sold more than 50k copies to cover the loss of some players leaving.

50 copies in 10 days, 50,000 copies in 1 year.  can we tell which is the success and which is the flop?

I pulled numbers out of my ass, yes.  Just like you guys.

store sold 50 copies last time it was open, that was 10-11 days ago.  AION reported 1million china accts (thats what, 1-2 months?).  EVE reported 300k accts (up from 250k last year).  my numbers came from real places.

Oh?  So your an investor in these?  No?  Please explain to me how these other poor games with higher sales affect my gameplay in a full server?  Oh, that's right.  You can't.  Nice try though.  Give you an A for effort.

Being in an area with thousands of players who have never seen a hacker does not constitute a full server..

Having a blast. Only 3 weeks in game though so the woah-factor is still there to some extent. Lots and lots of rough edges but I am so bored with games that hold your hand 24/7 that it's my only option atm really. Got bored with Eve after 4 years so.

Also,Devs actually do listen even though they don't communicate.

Potential is there. Oh and I would really like to know where you got 50 copies sold number from? Is making up numbers fun? Does it make you feel good to post lies/made-up shit?

Can't say how your experience will be. Either you'll love it or hate it. It's that kind of game imo.

DF store only sold 50 copies last time it was open, that was 10-11 days ago.  not made up, go check the DF site.

If you like FPS with city fights in a medieval settings, and keep in mind it was made by a indie company. So its unpolished fully but patching weekly, keep a open mind.

Some people do not like it or flame it, most arent in game yet.

Only has  1 server because in fact we are in a paid beta, and they told us that basically.

They needed money so they launched.

If it doesnt change in 2-3 months(they patch every week with big and lots of fixes/content) then I will leave to a different game.

But another 2-3 months we will see where this game is going to end up. Whether it be a darkandlight or a EVE Online only time can tell, or maybe just maybe a UO.

It probably is true, because the people who are in game arent leaving, because its fun.

I have yet to hear anyone from my alliance leave, and I am in one of around 500.

They only keep the max subscribion limit to a playerbase of 10k-30k probably smaller than 30k but because the server can only support 10k and they only got 1 server atm.

Like I said give it a few more months and then we will see where the devs will take us, anyone played EVE's launch? now look at it.

I don't want "probably" I want him to back up his numbers with some factual links. Because it smells like he pulled it out from you-know-where.

Tasos normally opens a thread saying when the store will next open and how many copies will be sold.  thats how you got the game right? you DO have the game... don't you?  you mashed F5  right when the store opened.

I think the spirit of his argument is still valid.

"50" is what we call in literary terms a "hyperboyle."

His point is that Darkfall can't be successful until people who want to play it actually can buy it, the fact that it stil only had one server and probably will only have one server for a long long time makes many people question if it really is an MMO.

Honestly I used to think the people who said it was vapourware were rediculous.

If the game had been vapourware I think we'd all have been better off.

Point is the people are playing are having fun. More fun than any other game they played, if you havnt played it and say well this game has the same features, then you are stupid. I have yet to hear 1 guy in all the people talking in race chat saying trash about this game or saying they leaving.

Sure its a pain in the ass to get in, but you cant judge the game itself just because you cant play it, They are a indie company, is this  a paid beta? Kinda, but it still is fun and better than any other game out there for me, and I played them all mostly. Only time can tell these next 2-3 months are crucial for DFO.

Because new games are coming out MO ER and FE and stuff like that, which if they do come out, before DFO is what it is aiming to be, then it might be a big problem, til then Ill play DFO til I find  abetter game and as of now none is on the market for my tastes.

may be true for you, may be true for some people.  but this statement is false.  you can't speak for "people" because you are just you, you aren't "people"

I doubt even you are having more fun playing this than any other game you've played.  back when we still had an imagination games we player were many times more fun.  honestly I think I had more fun playing Mega Man 2 than i did playing any MMO.  I don't play it anymore, but back when I did, I had more fun because thats simply how I was.

People tend to hail this game as the best game ever.  that undercuts any argument you make.  Saying a game is good is beleiveable, saying a game is great is beleiveable, saying a game is amazing is believeable, saying a game is the best game ever made isn't.  as soon as you cross the line from "favorable" to "absolute" you lose credibility.

Some game has to be the best.  Who are you to judge otherwise?  I like the game, but just feel it is a few big patches away from being truly great.  That said, there have been some weekly great patches coming in.

no, NO game ever has to be the "best".  games are meant for the players to enjoy, and for the makers to earn money.  this is no best book in the world, no best movie *coughfightclubcough*, no best painting.   There is no best game.  there is a most sold game, there is a most played game, there is even a most fan-fictioned game, but there is no best game.

I could be your personal favorite game, it could be everyones favorite game, but that doesn't make it the "best".

What i find disturbing is that a bunch of people playing this game seems to play it "because there isnt anything else," or they feel "that its just one or 2 patches away from awesomeness." Or my favourite, "this game got LOTS of potential!"

As if MMORPG players are pretty much junkies that REALLY need their fix. Seriously, if a game (or ALL games) feels kinda bad/unpolished/mediocre... then DONT PLAY IT! Do something else rather than throwing your money on developers for a game you dont really like. Because you got a life, right..? Please tell me that you DO have a life...

    "so Darkfall failed"?

Darkfall never DIDN'T fail, it was always a failure, always will be a failure, and is a scum spot on the genre of MMO's.

He who keeps his cool best wins.

  • EricDanieEricDanie Member UncommonPosts: 2,238

    Failure is subjective.

Darkfall is sold out to the point you have to wait until an annoucement of a temporary shop open to buy your game - so it is a sucess for their current objectives.

This game that allows so few people to sub and the trollview hitting this game with all their might  finnaly hyped me into buying this game as soon as I get a chance, this is like an epic drama, more people trolling the game than the amount of subscribers atm, makes so much sense to troll a game you never even played.

i purchased the game and spent the free month in game and am very thankful that i got bored within that month so i didnt have  to resub. It was decent off the start....the new feel of a FPS mmo was pretty fun but it just became so  damn repetitive and boring. Archery is the only way to go imo, Manamissle dmg was a joke, everyone complained about high lvl magic, the grind could be done but marcoing all day and all night( which is just lame and if u started playing late you feel extremely far behind) ,the ammount of cheaters that were in the game was insane(they did eventually ban 213 and said they were still investigating more) about everyone and thier moms exploited the shit outta high lvl mobs(for gold) @ launch and became the powerhouse guilds in the game, Zerging and the numbers game is the only way to win the territory race, the server crashed constantly, tons of energency patches came out(more server downtime), and US ping vs Euro ping is def a huge factor, I did some heavy dueling during my month and if you play against a solid player from euro your pretty much F'ed no matter how good you are. Overall is a quick breeze of fresh air but then the heavy smell of $hit hits you pretty hard in the face.
