The endgame doesn't start at max level, or 50. It starts at 25. You can enter the abyss then and start PvPing. Hell I have a level 22 Sorcerer and I already have a PvP point.
I got my first couple of pvp points when some Asmodeans jumped through a portal that opened up in eltnen, tried to help kill the Gladiator but I found out that he hits way harder than me since he was about 20 lvls over me...but I got points
In that case, can you tell what leve your attacker is at? Or the person you are attacking? Or is it like Lineage 2 where you can't really tell?
Nah you can't tell because their lvls show as "??" I had to ask one of our lvl 35s what lvl they were. They were tearing through the place killing us until help arrived.
So I guess it's kind of like WoW because he was able to tell me what lvl they were because he was closer to their lvls, whereas I was only 21 so it did'nt register for me. This is only a guess but I can't see any other explanation how he knew the lvls.
Edit: I posted late, the explanation above may be true, this is another thing I have to find out for sure.
Originally posted by Scripture1 I have never played a game that gave xp for crafting and gathering simultanously as I quest and do missions. To me I feel spoiled. I bet if I honestly wanted to I could hit 10 lvls with ease if I actually "grind". I'm not a grinder anymore so I won't do that I just enjoy the game. I think it will do extremely well over here in N/A. I can't wait.
I completely had forgotten about the dings I got while gathering and crafting while I was a lowbie.

Yeah, the cool thing is once I got to Eltnen the game kind of changed. It was fun seeing as periodically enemies would come through a gate and fun would begin. It never gets boring lol!
Is this game an xp grind ? If not please explain in detail how it isn't. Thanks !
Every MMO on the market is a 'grind' to some degree. Some are easier than others - WoW for eg, is the biggest dumbed down PoS ever to grace this genre - but most have some mechanism in which you have to put in some effort to gain substantial rewards.
The new breed of lazy fat kids who never see the light of day, enjoy WoW for this reason, just as they are inherently lazy slobs in real life. Personally, I will be pleased if this game carries a challenge to succeed, as it will keep these horrible excuses for human beings away from me when I choose to go online. If grinding on mobs is the vehicle to carry this out, I'm all for it.

Your absolutely right, when starting out in Eltnen it's as if you went from 0-60 mph due to the fact that you can now get ganked by an assasin while questing lol.
I just re-made an assasin and got it to lvl 16 in 4-5 days, and that was me not rushing. This was partly because I already knew where everything was so I didnt have to search. Definitly no grind on my part. Honestly this game is just all out fun, and a breath of fresh air I'm luving it.
I have to honestly say that I have not played any other class other than assasin because that's just my style, but I believe with the diversity of the classes you will be having so much fun you won't notice a grind even if there were one. I can't wait to start using stigma slots after lvl 20, that opens up even more possabilities, I think NCsoft covered a lot.
Oh and I love duel weilding being available at lvl 5 instead of lvl 20
First, I can't believe ANYONE that has played Aion (I am currently playing) can call it a grindfest. I don't believe WoW was a grind and if you feel the same then you will love Aion because its like WoW with quests for xp but it goes a little extra. I get xp for crafting all day or for every piece of mineral I gather while in the field, I don't struggle to lvl at all. The quests are coherent, fun and many time challenging depending on your lvl, class, equipment etc. In FFXI when you died you lost xp, in this game when you die you don't really "lose" xp as it may apear because that xp can be bought back from a "soul healer" for chump change. So if I die 3 times I wait until it's time to advance to the next area, visit a soul healer and get all that xp back and sometimes that makes me lvl if I'm close tnl. I have never played a game that gave xp for crafting and gathering simultanously as I quest and do missions. To me I feel spoiled. I bet if I honestly wanted to I could hit 10 lvls with ease if I actually "grind". I'm not a grinder anymore so I won't do that I just enjoy the game. Ahhhhh....now that's what I want to hear. Questing isn't grinding to me. Questing is grinding to people who hate reading, I guess, and who don't care about furthering any sort of story or learning lore....I guess. Good quest lines are always fun to me. I consider something "grinding" if the only way to level is just repeatedly killing the same mobs over and over and over and over with very little xp advancement, but no other alternative ways to advance. To me....that's a grind.
And I really enjoying gathering resources and crafting. To get xp for that?? OMG...that's like a dream come true.
I'm going to chime in, because I am American, I've played a lot of MMOs, I am playing chinese Aion, and well, I am the Angry Guild Leader, after all.
The game is great. It is just enough WOW to suck in the people who are on the morphine drip of Blizzard, and then it says, "Ha ha! I screwed you! Now I am Final Fantasy, Lotro, Vanguard, and EQ!"
Which it is, with wings.
It is fresh, and so far steals the best from all of the other MMOs. It's not been in release long, so you can't look at it as the greatest MMO ever. You have to look at it as a baby that will grow, and if you do, it's the best thing since WOW first came out. It's the first time I am addicted again and enjoying myself. I'm not even sold on the game yet (because I did the Lotro thing where we go to 50, got all the world first kills then twiddled our thumbs), but I will tell you, my raiding guild is wondering where I am half the time.
I will not like it if I have to fly while raiding, but that's probably just something to get used to. This game is just fun. But not fun as in WOW. Wow has been watered down and saturated. Now hard content is nerfed within 6 months so that your retarded cousin can get gear, and if he can't then you can fish for badges to turn in for epic loot (exaggeration).
If this game is tank and spank, I will be disappointed, but there are buffs, dispels, and the like, so hopefully raiding will be interesting.. If they forget the PVE in this game when they've designed something so wonderful, yes, it will flop in the US.
While it's fun and great, and I could go on and on (and I will at angryguildleader.com and on MMORPG.com) it does have it's problems.
Crafters are complaining that the system is far too easy and cheap (and may be), and the interface is horrid in some spots. The guild interface is the worst I've seen since WOW. It's as bad a Lotro's guild interface. In fact, Lotro's is better, which is really really bad for Aion. Also, the auction house is the most abysmal, simplistic thing I've ever seen and you can only list 15 items. This will NEVER fly in the US with people who play WOW and EQ2 just to play the auction house. If you can only list 15 items, you just killed a core part of your audience.
That being said, it has these and other issues, but it is the most polished released I've seen since Lotro (yes, Lotro's launch was far better than Blizzard's trainwreck launch).
Chaos, I just don't see NCSoft pulling off great raid content. From Lineage 2 experience it was all tank and spank, the great part about raid content there was the PvP before the raid. If anyone has any example of good NCSoft raid content please link me a video.
