Dreadknot: I think everyone should be able to talk in a computer discussion regardless of what hardware they have or education/occupation. My sole requirement is that they should know what they are talking about. So what I'm saying is you can't meassure my knowledge from my hardware. The intention of my post was to say that it's not required to own a piece of hardware to talk about it, as it shouldn'h be required to, say develope with CUDA(it works awesome btw. All the smalls calculations the many threads can do at the same time makes it EXTREMELY efficient to do linear equations) in order to be able to discuss it. You can read and learn a lot of the platform without being an actual developer.
Lets not talk about my lack of Grammer,if you dont want to talk about your lack of Sex life..Nerd.
i just cant point out this text under his avatar, then open his profile, he lives in usa, and his spelling is so bad its just sad., first thing you gona notice is his pc part list, well thats one long list.. haha , and hes die hard nvidia fanboy, hes probably one of those who gets free nvidia cards to post positive stuff about nvidia in forums ( those things are real, and there is plenty ppl like that ) and in the end, its pretty hard not to take him as nerd, the one he seem to despise. talk about selfowning
as to whole nvidia vs ati, well its kinda silly again whole ati drivers suxs, nvidia drivers owns bullshit , nvidia drivers got so bad latelly its just stupid, ammount of crash nvidia drivers generate on windows is insane, amount of times nvidia driver stops working ( even on older games.. the new 185.85 driver, bought us 3 new things first is ambient oclusion ,well to be honest, second most useless feature after physx , first off, it supports so few games.. second off , it supports few older games, but looks just pretty much out of place and terrible in them, in new games where it looks great, crysis etc, it will drop your fps half, and i wonder how many ppl got 80+ fps while playing on max, and i mean completely max, before you even turn ambient oclusion on, you certainly need quad 295.. for that..
and there is 2 new bad things first one , i noticed is that i actually get nvidia driver stopped working on old games, such as wc3 tft.. for god.. i never had this before, and tbh, now its pretty frequant , so yeh.. way to go nvidia, well there is good thing about it, there is 80% that game wont actually crash, and just become black screen for few seconds and return to normal.. obviously real pain in the ass while playing online ( and thats all i do ) there are few other older games, which have that now.. annoying
and second and most noticeble is delay for dropdowns menu, like press on desktop.. and go to priorities/nvidia control panel, all those literly take 5 mins to apear ( for menu ) , and exactly everyone in vista/win7 have that.. so yeh.. thats clearly a feature we asked for
so yeh, nvidia drivers aint holy grail, to rebuke endless ammount of offensive crap that drivers problems are just for me.. go read some 3dguru forums, and i take good care of my pc/windows, cleaning registry, doing complete reinstall on drivers , using driver cleaner, so you can shove it up your ass , that its only my problem, or that drivers are spectacular
as to whole cf vs sli, its silly, a year ago even before 4000 series launched , everyone would agree on fact that cf gave more performance than sli did , we wont even go when 4000 series launched, and 4850 cf and 4870cf dominated everything ati had, its pretty fun, how after a year of silence , from nvidia fanatics, and without stupid wars, of whos better now when nvidia finally released better cards than ati ( which was good half year latter ) and now when there are rumours that new ati cards will be released in july/autumn ( well to be frank.. same date as 4000 series, just a year latter ) which supposedly will have 4x power of 4870, and frankly , if thats true, thats biggest jump in performance in gpu industry ever ? and rummored nvidia cards are just for new years.. which again will be half year latter than ati,( would it be better or worse card ) every nvidia fanatic, feels like its 1 month will ati will crush nvidia again, so they need to rise, and spamm as much as they can
i own sli my self, so no im not ati fanboy im just sick tired of ati hate, without ati there wouldnt be yours 295gtx, you would still sit in 7800gt andbest, and would be happy, cuz without competition ati have no reasons to invest all the money into research, when ppl still would buy old crap.. one more year max, and there will be first intel gpu, will you jump to intel ship, if intel brings out something so powerfull that neither ati or nvidia can compete.. or you gona wait another 9 months, till you got free month where nvidia is winning, and go mass propoganda spamming.. on every forum get real if you paid nvidia owner , be happy, i would be happy, make few posts.. how nvidia is better.. like 295 is best card.. go buy 260 sli is great do not make it.. nvidia owns ati is terrible, ati is terrible that.. ati is terrible that.. nvidia is perfect.. nvidia isnt perfect.. nor is ati.. neither of them is terrible ur just sad little beying, i doubt you get much of yours advertised sex.. do you

Did you install the SLI patch that came with the 185.85 drivers?

I have had a few crashes with 185.85 + the sli drivers in a number of games. Reverted back to 182.50 for now with stability.
Tried with Stock clocks + regular OC on 2x GTX 285's.
Nvidia drivers are becoming very unstable with ever new patch. I own an 8800GT and had when it first came out, slow over time I've watched each driver decrease the performance of my machine. With my new build, I have put in the 8800GT but will swap it out for one 4870 x 2 which is the same price as I paid for my 8800GT when they first came out. Nvidias cards might be a good peice of hardware, but without solid drivers , it just isn't worth the price , and ATI cards are so much more cost friendly, you can run SLI for the price of one Nvidia card . 1 x GFX / 1 X physics (cost of the single gpu cards)
I dont see why you guys are having so much trouble with the newest drivers, Im not...Im running a 8600 GT on my wifes computer with the 185.85 drivers and all is good! Your problems must be something broken between the chair and keyboard! LOL!
That's faulty logic if I've ever seen it. So because I have no problems with my HD 4870 means that anyone who has problems with it has caused it themselves?
As I said, inductive reasoning, it's worthless here. Especially when you're this far off.

You would be surprised how often things are self inflicted.....Im just saying they are working for me on 2 diffrent rigs!

One other thing I had to do was turndown my ram OC....From 1150mhz down to 1066. All good now!
