Gria ~ a new race!?

KhrymsonKhrymson Member UncommonPosts: 3,090

The Gria are a winged, humanoid race in Final Fantasy Tactics A2. The Gria are born with dragon-like wings and horns, and excel at physical combat. All Gria featured in the game are female, but it is never stated whether all members are female or if males exist.

If this turns out to be real, and are only female, does that mean there will be a 7th Race that are all male!?  Or will Male Mithra and Female Galka be added, as well as a new Male only race to balance it all out....hrm!?  {though no wings are seen in this image, maybe they're small and folded down their back instead of open all the time...hrm!}

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maybe we'll see the Nu Mou ~ are a dog-like race. They are short and hunched; half the size of an adult Hume, are adept in magic and can speak with monsters. The Nu Mou's lifespan is three times longer than that of a Hume.
Personally though I'd prefer to see the Viera as a playable race!
A rabbit-like race that can live three times as long as a Hume, and divided into two subraces: The light-skinned Veena and dark-skinned Rava.  The Viera have rabbit or deer-like features, most notably their long ears. Their feet are shaped in such a way that in order to stand they must wear high heels. Their slender forms heighten their senses and speed, and although their defense is low, Viera agility and finesse are unmatched by the other races.  Regarding the lack of males seen, it is found that males and females live separately, only meeting when there is a need for it.
    Are they still into gender locked races...
    Im a little on the fence on this game, FF11 was my very first MMO, but this game is going tohave to move mountains to get me to choose it over star wars TOR.
    Final fantasy has always been the game i wanted to stick with, bu they always do something that i cant stand  for the long run, im just waiting to see what that is in FF14.
    Ha that would be interested if that take some of the races from the Ivalice universe. I wouldn't mind seeing Viera and Mithra together lol. It would add a lot of diversity to the racial list if they combined them all, but this is highly unlikely.
    Just imagine Hume, Mithra, Viera, Galka, Gria, Bangaa, Nu Mou, Elvaan, Tarutaru, Moogle, and Seeq all playable.....although personally I could do with out the Seeq.
    I'm just praying they have more races than JUST the ones from XI, it would feel too much like playing the same game if they didn't change enough about the character models.
    I'd really like to see male mithra and a new race or two atleast.
    Oh I can't wait to see how Taru look in game hehe, hope they look a little less creepy >.>
    lol do you have nightmares of little Tarutaru ninjas jumping out of your closet? I suppose I could see how their doll like appearance could be creepy.
    HAHAHA, then just add in the music from the Calbrena Dolls from FFIV when they're about to strike...rofl!
    Its their souless blank eyes!
    Their innocence is a mask for something darker!  I swear it...
    I noticed that horned thing too the day after the accouncement. Didn't know what to make of it ... i wasn't aware that they had a name. BTW there is a male mithra sitting next to the WHM in your sig ... just pointing that out.
    Male mitha, or flat mithra :o
    Anyway, I think this thread needs more Bangaas. Bangaas should be playeable, because it would bring joy and peace and DESTRUCTION
    Looking at the other 2 Mithra on opposite sides of the mural are certainly female judging by their faces!  This one as you've pointed out certainly has a Male look and bone structure!  Though it could just be the way its sitting!
    So maybe we'll get 2 new race choices after all, Male Mithra, and to counter-balance the Galka being Maleish and asexual, the Gria will become the new Female only race...
    Gria would be soooo cool!!
    And I think that's a male Mithra, people have been asking to have playable or at least NPC Mithras in FFXI for years, and SE finally did give them one in game. So it would not surpise me at all they have them as playable this time around.
    I prefer Mithra over Viera personally but I wouldn't mind seeing them.
    Think I will just stick with making a Hume again.
    Only problem is that a playable male mithra goes against cannon. Women are hunting while the men guard the den. That would be like coming up with a female Galka.
    I think they shouldn't make any race from Ivaliace. Problem being that if you do that then you are going to have to answer questions about how these races can exist in two different worlds. Then is this new world and Ivalice on the same planet are they different contents. Then the question about why Vana'deilian characters are in the new world but not Ivalice if the one shares character and the other share characters why don't you have the orignal world share characters... etc etc ... or they could just finally admit that Ivalice, Vana'deil, and this new one are all the same world and open up expansions for FFXIV later on when FFXI and the FFTA series is dead and burried.
    What canon? This isn't FFXI, the races look similar but they are not the same races, they can make a femake Galka too if they want. I agree with the Viera coming over from Ivalice though, they'd have to have another name and story which is what these new old races are getting.
    I really hope Gria is a male Mithra. I got tired of seeing and hearing about guys playing female Mithras. I guess it is one of my pet peeves of gaming.
    I just want to put my 2 cents in that these don't look like horns.
    Look closer.  It really looks like they are cat ears... like it is a younger mithra.  The darker shade is the inner ear.
    But I would say about the comment above that male mithra would be very cool!!!  I would say that sex exclusive races should have their alternate sex availible in the new game.
    No those are horns, there's ears right below them.... And they are too sharp and curved to be cat ears.. ^^
    Didn't they say the new game takes place in a new land with new races that will paralel their other races, but not be the same?
    GAH!  I am oblivious!  Then I must say that the wings are probably hidden and are super tiny for show... like a moogle's <(^_^)>
    Interesting find!  I'd have to say I agree that this could be a new race... unless the character in question is wearing the horns like a head piece or a decoration.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannon_(fiction)
    Canon, in terms of a fictional universe, is any material that is considered to be "genuine", or can be directly referenced as material produced by the original author or creator of a series. Basically, something that is "canon" means that it is something that "actually happened" in that fictional universe. An example of something non-canon is a fan-fiction; a fan fiction about a particular story is not "canon", as the story in the fan fiction never actually happened in that fictional universe.
    So if you wrote a story within the Star Wars Universe and you had Storm Troopers use lightsabers that would be against canon.
    And Galka are asexual they do not reproduce sexually they die and are reincarnated. Technically galka aren't male either ... they don't have any junk.
    It's cannon to Final Fantasy XI, but not XIV.  They said to think of them as actors.  It's like having Ron Perlman play a Galka in a Final Fantasy XI movie then wear the same make up for Final Fantasy XIV, but not be a Galka.  Then you have Chyna (can't think of a big woman at the moment) play the female of that same race that Perlman is playing in XIV.
