This game is officially called iYawn - what a snoozefest.  I got to level 6 last night.  Kill 5 of these, collect 6 sticky mushrooms, run to this guy a few minutes away and repeat.  50 levels of this will kill me!  Where's the hook?

OP, I''m having a hard time visualizing what you were expecting the first 6 levels? Sounds like pretty standard fare designed to familiarize the new player with the controls and the environment.

From what I understand, this game is all about its RVR style PVP which doesn't really get going to levels 20-25.

Might want to try and get to that level before passing judgement on the entire game.

I must be at work again, 'cause I'm responding to some dumb post instead of actually playing Aion.

The OP is right!! Yeap, I said it, he's right. the game is a snooze fest, until level 10 anyway. Then it picks up a bit. I've heard from somewhat reliable sources it picks up yet again at level 25.

As I and many others have said before, Aion is NOT ground breaking, 'cept maybe the flying thing. It is however REALLY good at being the mmo we all know and love. It does what you've done before really really well.

So, If you know you like the standard mmo fair, you will like Aion. If you're looking for some new groundbreaking, unique mmo, don't look here. nothing to see.

I am not getting why people are complaining over quest. I was over a friends house and he was playing mm a game which I will not name and all I saw was kill this many wolves etc..etc.. even in AOC and WAR you had to kill this or collect this and that.  Someone tell me of a true MMO where you do not have to do quest or so call grind to gain xp?

I can not judge, but honesty... NOTHING I have seen so far really felt like "wow this is great". And yes, IMVPO, is DOES make him qualified. A game must be fun right away, not *sometimes in the far future*.

So your saying its totally possible to judge an ENTIRE Game based on 6 levels?

    You are wrong.

Its ok if you don't like the first 6 levels and if you want to say "I really hate how this game begins"  Then you are perfectly qualified to say that.

HOWEVER, it is incorrect to judge the ENTIRE game based off the first 6 levels.

    Which is what I said.

Thats the beauty of betas. You dont like it? You dont have to play, you can waste your money on something better (judging OP post, there seems to be plenty of that. :D)

    Bye.

Except that he's stating an opinion which doesn't have to be correct or incorrect.  If he wants to base his opinion on 6 levels, he can.  Sorry, there's not much you can do about it.  Try not to let it ruin your day...

My day is great actually, his opinion is valid, however its incorrect to judge an entire game based off of a 2 hour experience.

It would be a valid point to say he didn't like the begining of the game.

However it is not a valid point to say he is correct in judging the entire game based off of a level 6 character.

Opinions are opinions, but making statements and acting as if they are facts is a different thing.  Thats not an opinion, thats trying to convince others that his opinion is fact.

More power to him hating this game, I was just offering up MY opinion, that you can't judge a book by its cover.

  • tripmodetripmode Member Posts: 84

OK, so obviously judging the entire game based on my first 3-4 hours is not fair, and I understand it.

However, the first 3-4 hours was not so great compared to other "next gen" mmos.

In the first 6 levels of Warhammer, you're doing public quests, scenarios, open world rvr, and the PVE quest grind.

In the first 6 levels of AoC, you're doing the PVE quest grind, but you're learning an entire new combat system.

In the first 6 levels of Aion, you're doing auto-attacks and a hotkey abilities, just liked in WoW or EQ2.  There is absolutely nothing new here at all. So far it's nothing more than LOTRO minus the uber dx10 graphics.

So those who have played the game longer - what do I have to look forward to?  Do I have to do this boring PVE quest grind to 50 or are there other ways to advance the levels.   What makes Aion different?

I dont get post like these. It has been disussed in a thousand threads since the game was first released in Korea that this game is a traditional style quest based MMO. Yet you still go out and Pre Order the game knowing that this has been said.

LOL, are you serious? Have you even been reading about the success this game is having? This is the 2nd largest MMO out right now and its not even fully released yet. If it does not appeal to you then just be a man or woman and just say that. You dont have to make comparisons like there is something wrong with Aion when its no doubt one of the best MMOs out right now. When are you people going to understand that people dont care if a game has  new features, people do not care if a game is  different. There are only 2 things that matter when it comes to MMOs.

    1. Is the game fun to play.

    2. Will the game continue to be fun to play and keep me as a subscriber.

All that other stuff about Sandbox or Lunchbox does not matter. It has been proven with World Of Warcraft and its being proven again with Aion. I thought that people would have learned this by now.

    THE MAIN ATTRACTION!!

From my understanding the main reason people play and the best part of the game are the same.

Group RvRvM in the Abyss.   Essentially fighting other players while fighting monsters and the like in an open PvP area.

It seems unique, it starts around level 25.

I can't tell you that this will blow you away or that this game is for you, however if you enjoy grouping and PVPing and killing monsters while watching out for people.

This game might be for you.

I didn't preorder, I got a key from fileplanet.   And sorry I didn't notice a consensus on the forums from what I read.  Everyone has different opinions and I was sharing mine.  Craimore.

The problem is the way you shared your opinion, you don't offer any reasons or facts or anything.

You just state you don't like it.

That is perfectly fine an all but it sure doesn't help prove your point, if you want us to agree with you you have to give us something to agree WITH.

For instance saying that the combat feels slow and you dont' like the animations or the graphic design.

    These are examples!

Give us reasons and we'll tell you if we agree or disagree.

Give us your opinion and we'll tell you our opinion.

Just take it for what its worth.  People post negative things about every game new or old just to get a reaction. Then you also have the truly scary ones that really do hate every new game before its even released. The first group just likes to troll as they have nothing better to do , such as play one of the games which in there eyes is so much better than whatever game they are trolling at the time. The second group, just seem to hate everything and as to the reason for this, not being in the medical field i have no idea.  I would guess they were let down by a certain game at sometime (you know who your are) or their parents wont give them the $50 to buy a game but thats just conjecture on my part and is not based on anything solid....kinda like most of the negative posts ive been seeing about Aion, STO and SWTOR.

I wish you people would actually make it to at least level 12 before coming on here and giving half baked "reviews / impressions".

By level 12 you've had 2 levels to play your profession, you've gotten out of the "newbie" area, you've had a chance to fly a bit, and you've gotten to see a major city and all it has to offer.
