When I first came to this forum to read about Darkfall I was shocked. It wasn`t any discussion about the game at all, only a flow of vaporvare posts. I was amazed by the effort some made to make a small indie company look bad. I also wondered what kind of mmo`s those "haters" accually played.
Finding the trolls are really easy in mmorpg.com. I just press the posters name, look at his profile page and his recent forum posts. You will see that the trolls have page after page of attacks on Darkfall, and hardly anything on other forums. You Jimmiman99 are a troll. Not the worst troll in here, but still a troll. Just check your forum post, all of you. If your post are about a game you have never played or have no intention of playing you are a troll.
I honestly don`t understand why you do it, as I would never spend my time flaming hello kitty. It`s a really sad thing to do, and your mmo (if you have any) must be really boring if you waiste this amount of time on a mmo with 10k players.
Beside, we don`t need you to tell us what the flaws of Darkfall is. We know what it is because we play it. I do look forward to a forum that consist of real Darkfall players. And have no fear, we will flame everything we don`t like in Darkfall.
Please refrain from insulting HKO and it's fans. At no point have I seen fans of HKO swarm and spam every forum they can find - with nonsense about how HKO is better than all games ever to be created.
With that in mind, and the amount of trolling done by DF fans (still to this day, especially with the rabid lying which often accompanies some of the pro-DF trollpostings), I would think long and hard about how fitting your post is to many representatives of the DF community, starting with the OP, and moving on down thru this very thread even.
If you are unable to speak to the points I raised; then, perhaps the person (our op in this case) who mentioned 17k players in the log, CAN?

I see the trolls are still strong with this one. Many of the same people who swore the game didn't exist are still bashing it now. Wonder if they even ever played it or gave it a chance, or were ever interested. Ah well, guess you can't teach a troll new tricks. Same exact people in 2007 screaming Aventurine was working with Gmod are now blathering on about nonsense still. Cute
Read a majority of the posts, most of them are completely uninformed, and many of them are just hate/anger mongering for no apparent reason. A few good points were brought up though. Sadly, this is the story of the game. Dig through a pile of garbage to find some actual information. Thanks trolls.
Despite whatever you might want to say, despite how many times you said it would never happened, the game launched in a stable state, with the vast majority of promised features (85%ish) and no amount of trolling will change that. And yes, subscriptions are growing, hence why a new server is being opened.

I do not see how a game, having 10-20K active players 5 months after release qualifies for a victory dance. I would say its the other way around -a fiasco, a failure, and big one at that. I cannot see any MMO business model to hold on long on these numbers. But what do I know, I haven't even played the game to know that MMORPG needs more then 20K people to be successful. I must be a hater cause I said something bad about something that you love and cherish so much, it makes your mother jealous.
I guess you've never heard of a small little game called Eve Online. They operate in a very similar fashion actually... Server farm that keeps getting upgraded, steady growth over several years, free expansions every several months or so. They are now one of the most successful MMOs out there. Whereas you have WAR that gets a million subs, then down to 300k, Age of Conan 800k down to like, 90k. Darkfall started small and is growing, just like Eve. Seems the healthiest busniess model so far, if you want to argue that.
Darkfall is a small indie niche game, it's numbers are strong and growing. It's not supposed to compare with WoW, or else it probably wouldn't attract as many er.. passionate, people. You're just as misguided as all the other trolls who think they've made a point, when instead they've just proven they don't know anything about the game.
And for the post underneath you, oh I KNEW this post would attract trolls, infact I said exactly that. Guess your reading comprehension fails pretty hard, no wonder you don't know anything about Darkfall.

You WISH the game was growing. Initially Darkfall sold about 10,000 "pre-orders" and then continued to sell 1K-2K per week after they fixed the store. At some point the game probably had more than 60K subscriptions, until players started getting screwed, people started hacking, macroing became the new Beatles, and the customer support pretty much told everyone who contacted them to F-off.
I played the game from start till about 3 months into it. My ENTIRE guild loved this game and so did I. It had it's flaws sure but we were having fun. That is until we ran into a group of hackers that killed us naked when we were in full gear. That was before we were constantly attacked while hunting mobs by naked speed hackers. That was until one of our members was banned because THEIR game glitched and let reds into towns and he was killing them and THEY reported him for hacking.
The entire guild decided to quit Darkfall for many reasons. I've seen recent videos of Darkfall PvP and it looks like Counter Strike on crack. People jumping all over, shooting arrows with no stopping except to get more stam from magic. Running around in full plate and shooting arrows and magic like there is no ecumberance. It's absolutely ridiculous looking and a game that supports that kind of play is only going to fail.

The answer is easy, obvious, AND can be summed up in a single word - karma.
A lot of people are reaping that which they have sown, and quite hilariously so with every (even more outlandish) lie told.

Counting clan members won't give an absolute value, but it provides a good baseline for estimating figures, since it's the only source available ANY numbers. Regardless, the lone wolf argument is poor. Darkfall is heavily clan-oriented. Most players who last more than their initial month almost certainly join clans. As such, the number of non-clan players is probably pretty low, especially when it comes to sustained membership. In general, the best calculation for membership is probably:
Current Clan membership - invalid clan characters + active non-clan characters = total active Darkfall membership
As for the 17k number, it's possible that there are that many total active players, although I think it's unlikely. We've discussed membership several times on this forum and on the official boards and the maximum legitimate estimate seems to be 18k, although I personally thinkt he number is less than 15, based on the information I've gathered and presented. There's no possibility that the 17k number is for concurrent online gamers. Anybody who actually players the game can tell you that, unless all 17k are hiding in their clan cities. Even the largest recorded siege was allegedly 2k players, which is tiny, by comparison. The most recent sieges barely seem to have hundreds of players, if that.

He already admitted to this, and his volunteer status on the Darkfall.com forums, months ago. I don't know why he is denying it, or this is an issue today?
It's what the rabid Darkfall fans do. It's their MO... always.
They'll swear to something like there's no tomorrow as long as it's favorable to DF. The moment that same thing turns unfavorable, they'll swear against it like there's no tomorrow.
The latest example is the addition of more PvE content. When us so-called "trolls" and "haters" were wondering where all the boasted features were that Tasos said were "complete" months ago, we were told that AV kept them out because they're carebear, that DF is a hardcore FFA PvP MMO and that it didn't need PvE content.
Now that AV is announcing more PvE content... What do the rabid fans do? They're gloating over how AV is adding more PvE content to the game as though it's some kind of victory for the home team, completely contradicting themselves yet again. The whole "told you so" mentality some of them are displaying is quite funny.
Go back through the months, perhaps even years, of this game's history and you'll see the pattern over and again. You will consistently see the same names taking every side of any given situation. It's quite entertaining, if a bit sad, to see them... especially when they get into full-on spin mode.

So could any of you Pro-DF, answer the numbers question? Possibly put to bed any glaring misconceptions, or atleast admit it is a perplexing situation Aventurine appears to be in? ( In Regards to server capacity, and releasing a new server).

Oh man it's going to be nice to have the rabble gone.
