And why wouldn't they? It's common sense, if you can't afford something or don't want to pay that much for something, you don't buy it. It is SPECIALLY true for something as optional as a video game. It's not like you are in the desert, totally broke, and the flask of water included in every MO box is gonna save your life, it's only a game, if it's too expensive for you, be it for financial or ethical reasons, pass on it or wait for cheaper options.

Right... so if I would go to a restaurant and they would charge me twice as much for coffee than any other cafe then I shouldnt complain right? Because I am not in "the desert, totally broke, and the flask of water included in every coffe box is gonna save your life",

Get real, ofcourse if the price is higher than the market price then people will complain, and rightfully so. Ofcourse Starvault can charge whatever they like but if they want to get customers, and retain them, they need to justify their higher than average price. So far I have not heard any justifications for it (from them, not from you or any other wanna be Starvault spokesman).

Why are you in the restaurant when you know they are going to charge twice the norm? Especially when you don't want to pay that.

Last I checked, you know the price ahead of time, and you can go elsewhere if it is not to your liking.

Why it "Shouldn't be that" is irrelevant and a matter of philisophical discussion... without anger and hurt feelings.

I understand you want people to see reason... but:

"The first law of reason is this: what exists exists; what is is. From this irreducible, bedrock principle, all knowledge is built. This is the foundation from which life is embraced. Reason is a choice. Wishes and whims are not facts, nor are they a means to discovering them."

You believe, or desire that, the game should be cheaper... but that doesn't make it fact.

It is the price that they set... no more or less... and you can now choose what you will do.

Right and if Starvault want to get any customers, and retain them, they need to justify their higher than average prices. Not everyone is a fanboy, you know, that will accept any price. Most customers see this as a game and nothing more and will want to understand why they should pay more than what an MMORPG usually cost.

It is the same with everything you buy. If I pay more I need to know why I am paying more.

I know enough to make the personal judgement that I will buy.

If you don't know enough yet, you can ask on the forums, or wait.

I could give you my reasons, but they are MY reasons and will likely only work for a few others. Ultimately you will need to find yours.

At this point, their customers seem to be buying all the copies they have available. At least all the LE's are sold out last I checked. Retaining these customers does remain to be seen, but we can discuss why they did/didn't later in the year.

I feel like we are approaching a stopping ground... This is turning into more of a personal matter and any more discussion on the company's performance will require time.

A good example would be for a relatively unknown by mass audience indie game to hit on steam on £50. Or a game on 360 to come out at £60 for no reason other than because they chose so.

It's still 68.69 euros. Why do you constantly try to pass it off as cheaper than it is?

Because you are  lying , the price on the page its 54.99 Euros , the TAXES are only applyable if you are on Europe, 25% taxes to be exact , the price of the game its still 54.99 euros

I can't answer, because you don't make any sense at all. I have told you several times that it's 68.69 euros for people who live in the EU. Then you start talking about stuff OUTSIDE of the EU, where people don't even use euros. What is your point? What is your question?

Pfft! We europeans, norway in my case, always been shafted when it comes to stuff like this. Atleast we don't have it as bad as the australians. Poor buggers. Oh, and by the way Norway, while being in Europe, aint a member of the exclusive shitclub they call EU so we should be excepted to pay VAT and probably will be. I agree though that the price is way high for some unproven dev and game with no guarantee of quality. Jeez, its not Bioware, Blizzard or any of those other proven developers still making quality games, just some swedish indie dev noone even heard off before this. Heh, those crazy swedes. Not even the norwegian bastards called Funcom would try this.

The price is made in euros , converted to the other currencies , only then the tax is added if you are in europe , and i "lol" at your comment of people outside of europe not paying in euros , cause im in europe and i pay in dolares alot of times ( bank does the conversion just incase you dont have a bank account ... )

And no your post isn't true.  It's a lie.

It's 74 and some change in USD and the monthly sub, wich no one that buys now will be paying until the game releases nearer the end of the year is only $14.25, unless they change it.

    $96 and $20 is lie.

The game doesn't cost that much.

The direct download available on the 20th will be cheaper then the typical MMO.

I agree it is silly. if the digital download is more than even £30 I will be upset. I payed £40 for darkfall which was way too much I usually buy games for about £10 on play.com and thats for an actual box.

Ok, there seems to be some missunderstandings in here.

There will be a DD that they have stated WILL BE cheaper than Darkfall - Check

They did the LE and Boxed ones because of the followers on the forums wanted it so bad (you see, in opposite to DFO)- Check

They listen on the followers, do their boxes and LE's - And now they should not get paid for it? Haha, now THAT would be a reversed rip-off or something. I doubt they, or any1, or especially you OP would give this away for free. They have their prices (cheaper than DF) and obviously have to put all the extra costs on top since I guess they have a business plan to follow.

Well, if you cant afford it and think it is too expensive, then wait for the DD and stop whining. I gladely bought the LE because I wanted it, and I know I would have saved some €30-40 if I bought the DD. Do I feel like they ripped me off? No way!

And regarding the monthly payments: First of all, as has been stated, there will be NO monthly costs during the open beta, first sub would be when they "go gold", basta. And they have also stated that it will be (NOTE: Subject to change) €14.25 for Europeans and $14.25 for everybody else. This is with all expansions, updates and what not for free. Anyone plays Eve? They have the exact same approach and the same prices.

What now OP? What is there to whine about? Do to forumfall and hang out with your mates and bitch about it over there. Thank you!
