Well you can dispute the charges with your cc company, just tell them how bad the product is and take em to the website. XD

yeah I am feeling sorry for you guys atm, I wanted a few times to buy the north american client of Darkfall, but I lept telling myself theres no point and that I would regret it later.
that said, there are some high end quests that will give you cool shit, and to actually finish them you will have to go through a long line of quests which is the ONLY line of quests per race in the game that require you to macro for long time to get a character able to kill these PVE monsters, to finish the quests.
other than that you should if you want to enjoy the game, get used to setting up a macro while you cannot play, and join a fun guild so you can watch the city building features of the game they are really all that is to do, once you get a city your guild can make cool tanks and boats and craft stuff for other people.
I sent in a report to better business bureau when AOC launched missing a ton of fetaure including on the box it said it was a DirectX 10 game and they made Funcom give me a full refund. Funcom gave me 110% refund and also a free mopnth whenever I wanted to come back and see if the game had improved.

the simple solution would be to walk around and find the goblins who live near the towns (as seen in every Darkfall video and every guide i have read on the game).
if you fail at finding monsters then you have a problem. If you fail to explore the world a little then i don't see you lasting very long in most games.

Actually, when you start a new character, you are placed in a starter town near the bindstone. This is just a courtyard area. Not 20 feet from that spot, in the same courtyard, there's an NPC called a councillor, who gives out starter quests. Usually, it's kill some goblins. The goblins are usually right outside the courtyard, probably about 50 yards away. They also put up markers on the mini-map to show you where they are when you get the quest.
Since there's only a few starter areas, and people start in the same place, I've generally seen other new players killing goblins and such.
Oh, also, NPC's in towns show up as orange dots on the mini-map. Usually the starter towns will have a merchant, fighter, mage, and the various crafting trainers.
While it's not a perfect game, I'd have to be a bit skeptical that you were unable to find a single NPC with a new character.
