I am looking with anticipation at FF XIV, but what the devs have said so far scares me. Trying to make the game more casual and solo friendly, when FF XI succeeded so much and didn't follow that pattern?
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against soloers, I believe you should have your games too.
But FF XI succeeded because it was a group game. If the devs think that adding more solo content will make the game even more successful that FF XI, then they are wrong. They will simply alienate the original FF XI crowd that FF XIV will initially attract, and once the original crowd sees that FF XIV is not like FF XI, the fanbase for FF XIV will start decreasing. If this were to happen, then hopefully the game survives from the casual crowd. Otherwise, Square Enix will learn a multi-million dollar lesson: Don't change what works.
This list isn't final, because it could shift depending on how quickly and how much information Bioware releases.
1. SW: TOR
2. Earthrise
3. Don't really have one right now. I would say MO but I'm not sure how smoothly the FPV (first-person view) will work out. Maybe it'll end up being one of the games under the hype radar right now, but that will deliver nicely.
1. Star Wars: The Old Republic - This game is history in the making. Great IP, ethical and moral choices, and the largest voice over in the history of entertainment.
2. DC Universe Online - I've always have wanted to bust some heads in Gotham with Batman.
3. The Agency - Cause I like James Bond and Jason Bourne or Star Trek Online - Again another great IP. Lol, I know your asking yourself. Someone who like Star Wars and Star Trek, it can't be? Yet its true. LOL!
I know, I know that was 4 and not 3, but the last two could go either way.
When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!

I think it is safe to say most of us list SWToR as one of our top three most anticipated. I don't disagree with you there. However, Final Fantasy and Champions Online? I think Star Trek is probably even above those two even with their hiccups so far. I suppose in my opinion I would have to say that Mortal Online is pretty fascinated, even though it is FPV which is really lame IMO. Still, the concept of sandbox, player owned houses, player driven economy, and risk PvP are enough to keep me hitting up their website from time to time. I wish I could get into Final Fantasys, as I use to love them. But they have been so, well, I don't know how to put it in PC terms but overtaken by the Asian culture of game design that I can't enjoy them anymore. Perhaps the new MMO will be worth a look though:)
Final Fantasy is probably one of the biggest mmorpgs
Final Fantasy XI has around 500.000 subscribers according to SE.
Thats more than Everquest had at its peak.
Are those 500K U.S. and European subscribers? I have serious doubts about that number not including Eastern subs too. EQ was primarily as U.S. game with a small following in Europe and almost none from the Eastern bloc.
I'm sure that FFXIV will have great appeal in the East, not likely to be that much of a hit in the West since it's trying to be more hardcore than casual.
Assuming none of these end up going sub plus micro transaction, I'm looking forward to SW: TOR and DC Universe Online and Star Trek Online. Champions would have been the 4th, but it's been confirmed to be subscription plus micro transaction.
It does include eastern subscribers too, but only japanese as that is the only eastern country the game was released in.
I think a significant amount of subscribers are from the west. Final Fantasy is very popular in the west and Final Fantasy XI was actually inspired by Everquest.

I think we should at least wait for more info before jumping to conclusions. I loved FFXI, it was my first MMO. Still, I left because it took too much time to form groups. There were many times it took so long, 15 minutes into partying, someone would have to leave. I know a few people IRL who stopped playing because it took too long to do anything. I highly doubt adding solo content would cause them to be less successful.
As for my top 3
Aion is what I will be playing, so I guess I won't even count that.
Comments
1) Star Wars The Old Republic
2) Star Trek Online
3) Huxley: The Dystopia
4) Earthrise
5) Mortal Online
I had to take it to 5, three just didn't feel right :P

Someone mentioned Secret World.
From what Ive read, at best the game is 2 yrs away.
My 3 most anitipated MMORPGs are as follows:
1. Star Wars: The Old Republic - This game is history in the making. Great IP, ethical and moral choices, and the largest voice over in the history of entertainment.
2. DC Universe Online - I've always have wanted to bust some heads in Gotham with Batman.

Others are the Star Trek, Mo and Huxley
Have you been keeping up with game news?
Huxley looks like a giant steaming pile of ----
1: FFXIV
2: FFXIV
3: FFXIV
I played Aion for a bit, its a good game but i'd drop it in a heartbeat for FFXIV.. assuming that FFXIV will be good.

LOL, I feel the same. Aion looks interesting, and will probably play it for a bit, but once FFXIV is release and available I will probably drop Aion.
I'll probably play Aion causally but not as hardcore as FFXIV, but who knows...maybe Aion would get me hooked.
