I'd like to make a prediction -- Healthcare will be Obama's bane

FaxxerFaxxer Member Posts: 3,247

Just like it was for Hillary.

The liberal news outlets are starting to get overwhelmed by the massive public outcry against this crap being shoved on us.

The white house is in full damage control and pr repair.

Democrats holding weak seats are starting to feel the heat and trying to back out.  muahhahaha...

it's time for a new contract with America.

Oh and palin has 42% of the vote against Obama if the election were held today HAHAHAHA....this one is great.

The problem is when Obama makes all these compromises on the health care bill with the republicans - they are only out there to make the bill fail. They are wasting time in congress. They are doing everything in their power to prevent Obama from accomplishing anything when there needs to be things getting done. I think they don't want the economy to start getting better until after Obama leaves office or else he might get re-elected. Therefor they are willing to slow economic growth by any means possible... mostly by wasting time and raising stupid objections (like the Obama isn't American conspiracy). Conspiracies are the easy answer for the weak-minded folk - and they just end up preventing progress in the long run.

I've been up and down on this, but I've come to the opposite conclusion. I honestly don't see Obama letting this one get away.

You mean like the Dems are continuing Bush this, Cheney that even after holding the president's seat and having control of the Congress?  You make it sound like it's only republicans trying to make dems look bad.  It's happening both ways right now, both sides blaming each other, getting nothing done.  Gee, that's surprising!

By the way, don't blame the republicans for this one.  Democrats have enough votes to get the healthcare bill passed, but even the dems are not able to agree on it to get it done.  It's always, always easier to blame the other side.  But honestly right now, Obama has the whitehouse, and Democrats have had control of the Congress since 2006.  Stop looking across the aisle, start pointing at your own party affiliation for not getting things done right.

if there was less republican amendments on the health care bill all the dems would be more supportive.

That's a lie, straight out of the Dem-playbook.  Not to mention CBO is non-partisan, appointed by the Democrats, and they're pointing out the inconsistencies with the healthcare bill cost.

CNN is right, it's almost like a repeat of 1994, except this time Democrats actually have control of the Congress to get it done.  The problem is, like I pointed out, even the Dems can't get enough of their own party to support this bill.

So imo, if you want to see this done, talk to your own parties, the people you voted in who promised it.  Stop blaming the other side for it.

How many times is he going to go on TV to try and convince ppl?

He's had primetime event after primetime event, even a fully covered infomercial on this.

...it's not selling.   because it's not good for the United States.

His so-called made for tv town meeting was proven a sham when they admitted they hand picked the questions so that it would present the agenda the way they wanted it presented.

    bane.

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/07/21/senator-democrats-baffled-by-presidents-health-care-stance/

WASHINGTON (CNN) – As the prospects for passing health reform by the time Congress leaves for its August recess look bleaker, Democratic grumbling about President Obama is growing louder. One Democratic senator tells CNN congressional Democrats are “baffled,” and another senior Democratic source tells CNN members of the president’s own party are still “frustrated” that they’re not getting more specific direction from him on health care. “We appreciate the rhetoric and his willingness to ratchet up the pressure but what most Democrats on the Hill are looking for is for the president to weigh in and make decisions on outstanding issues. Instead of sending out his people and saying the president isn’t ruling anything out, members would like a little bit of clarity on what he would support – especially on how to pay for his health reform bill,” a senior Democratic congressional source tells CNN. The Democratic leadership had hoped the work going on behind closed doors for months could bear fruit in time for the president’s news conference Wednesday night. But multiple Democratic sources tell CNN that’s looking very unlikely, and one senior Democratic source tells CNN there is some frustration among Democratic leaders that Senate negotiators have, "repeatedly missed deadlines."

...proof that tonight will be just another commercial propagated by the media.  All talk, no substance.

"Pass this because we need it!"

"but what is it sir?"  edit

    "It's not about me!" lol

On the contrary, it is time for a new New Deal for America.  We need to repair, rebuild, and recreate those institutions that preserved, protected, and indeed formed the massive middle-class in America.

Palin cannot do it; she does not even know what needs to be done.  Health care reform --universal health care-- is but one institution to re-create the middle-class in the United States.

We need universal health care now.

Publicly funded abortions... no thanks. The people I know that have gotten abortions, did not recognize any sort of responsibility failure after they got it. If it was free and payed for by the tax-payers, that would be pathetic. I'm not going to fund irresponsible skanks with my tax-money.

There is one-hundred and one ways to prevent a pregnancy. If a woman fails to use any of these methods and fails to prevent pregnancy, she should at least have to pay for the abortion, not just go for a free-ride.

It is like some of you want the United States to be punished under this health care model that leaves MILLIONS of YOU uninsured, most of you underinsured, and a tiny minority of you --sure, many of you think you are in this minority-- over-insured.

Your neighbors, fellow citizens are being ruined, financially, due to this model.  Millions die from it.  So many have no coverage, and so many others have to file for bankruptcy because of it.  The leading cause of bankruptcy is health care.

Something happened, not sure what, in the culture.  It is a dumbed-down democracy.  Enough people, possibly a majority of workers, are against their own interests (rights, money, jobs, housing policies, credit card fraud, you name it).  And it is strange.

  • kazmokazmo Member Posts: 715

Hate to break it to you all who think this is Universal Healthcare, but it isn't.

This system is going to force you to either pay for insurance, which is hardly going to change in price, if any.. or you pay fines over $1,000. So you tell me, how that is a universal plan. People are not insured because they can't afford it, forcing them to pay - lest they are levied fines - is backwards.

You are all twisting the universal-healthcare dream into something it's not.

I do not like the plan.  I am favor of a universal health care system, in which each and every American citizen is covered.

My prediction, actually, is that anything short of universal health care, or at least a public option, is not acceptable.

The for profit health care establishment in the U.S.A. are opposed to a public option because they "cannot compete."  No crap.  Their model is expensive, bloated, leaves millions without care, even more with inadequate care, and a minority with way too much care and tests.  They would have to reform, change, and become competitive.  Actually provide health care.

    We need reform - desperately.

Why do the Dems keep trying to ram thousand page plus bills through before anyone has a chance to read and digest the entire thing? Once again Obama has left it to Reed and Pelosi to get it done. We remember how well they did with Porkulus or at least I do. You know the bill the Dems touted as this wonderful job saving measure that was basically a wish list of their pet projects instead that have created a whopping 2k proven jobs so far. I know some of you who actually voted for this closet communist don't but hey what can I say. Do you really expect those idiots to do any better with health care? Please. The good new is that only 5.5 out of ten Americans still have faith in those idiots. The sooner you people realize we need to toss them all out and actually elect people that care about us and not their own personal glory the better.

I have explained, somewhat ad nauseam, how elections are financed.  I have shown which special interests support BOTH parties, and who the biggest contributors are.

You would have to change the election laws meaningfully.  You would have actually research and see who is behind the candidates' financing.  And you can predict, like a magician, with stunning accuracy how they will vote and what bills they will support (bills eventually become laws) by who finances their campaigns.

It is so uncomplicated it is as shocking to me as it is to you.

EDIT:  It is why I have always said, in order for a third party to gain any real traction, it would have to accept the financing from the major players that finance both the Democrats and Republicans.  The key, however, is to get involved in one political party and seek change from within.  It is not easy, but it is the best way to actually reform health care in a way that is beneficial for the American people.

Don't be fooled.. Obama is the master when it comes bullshitting to the average American and this health bill will get passed.

  • admriker4admriker4 Member Posts: 1,070

this bill was written by big insurance and pharm corporations. You all better pray it doesnt pass.

It will mean watching your grandpa die because its not considered cost effective to give him treatment to extend his life for a few more years. Dont believe me, read the bill (you'd be unique, most congressman havent read it). Part of the plan is to have mandatory end-of-life counseling for anyone 65+ its essentially there to prepare you for the fact that unless you have private coverage (most wont under this bill, only the super-rich will) the next disease you get will be the last.

This bill isnt about republican or democrat, its about a group of eugenic minded elites that run the planet that want to reduce global populations by 90%. Their agenda is to take control of your healthcare and the food you eat. The food part happens at the end of this year when vitamins will be labelled as toxins and severely restricted from yuour diet. Home gardens will be gone too thanks to terminator seeds you wont be allowed to buy.

You will long for the days when you could at least visit an emergency room and know they would treat you.

ps. even  if you dont agree with this so-called conspiracy, at least recognize this plan or any other for what it is....SOCIALISM. its illegal and unconstitutional people so wake up and remember its not the govt job to provide for you...unless you want to be slaves that is

Health care has been a primary focus since well before the election, all through the campaigns, in fact. The democrats have been framing their options into potential legislation for many months. Republicans are trying to paint health care reform as a new issue that just arose, one in which they weren't invited to participate. Fact is, they have neglected to frame potential legislation of their own because they don't want significant reform. They want to say "we are for reform" but drag their feet when it comes to action.

Face it, the nation elected Obama for significant changes in policy. That's what this health care reform package is. It will become law and the nation will benefit from it. If republicans would rather continue to obstruct progress, they will pay the costs in yet another mid-term.

Misinformation and fear tactics. The American people know when they're being patronized. Well, some of them do.

This fight isn't nearly over. The rhetoric is only beginning to ratchet up. The advocates didn't have the resources to fight back in 93. That's not the case anymore. We are better prepared this time, you should have learned that last year.

Because they would rather blame the republicans, rather than their own party for not getting this done.  They got enough votes, but again the problem is their own president and the democrat-congrolled congress, can't get this done.  I don't know why they just won't blame themselves, their own party, for not passing this darn thing rofl.

It's actually comical really, watching them in such denial.  They are fighting more with themselves, within the party, with their appointed CBO numbers, and the general public.  With all that going on, they still rather say republican this, repubilcan that.

The American people know when they're being patronized?

    Since when?

    1. "Death tax."  The estate tax, which only falls on the wealthy, and is the most progressive tax of all.  In 2001, the estate tax had rates decrease and exemptions increase, with a total phaseout in 2010.  How many six-pack or plumber Americans thought the awful "death tax" was going to "hit" them?  At the time of the passage, the richest 1 percent of Americans paid two-thirds of the estate tax.  This was a tax on the wealthy of the wealthy of the wealthy of the wealthy of the wealthy.
    2. "2005 Gasoline for America's Security Act."  A tax break for oil companies.
    3. "Privatization of social security."  It would have resulted in the cutting of promised future benefits. It meant, basically, you pay 100% and get 50% of the benefits.
    4. Bush's expansion of the Medicare prescription drug plan was a boon to the pharmaceutical industry and bad for taxpayers and seniors.
    5. Bush's 2001 tax cuts:  share reductions in the TOP income tax rate and phase out of the estate tax.
    6. Bush's 2003 tax cuts:  reduction of taxes on dividends and capital, primarily benefiting the wealthiest Americans.
    7. Ronald Reagan:  clothed elitist economic policies in populist rhetoric.

I could continue;   I do not want to.
