That is not AOC problem...its everything..the game its just a really crappy game...only thing good is the high poligone count on the graphics..but yet again because of the grafics they must instance the game everywhere...so in a word..AOC is a joke...everyone knows that but the new players and the hardcore fans....just move on and play a free mmo...any free mmo is better then AOC...choose something else..

True, rtfm. Otherwise- if you are lazy or expect certain things in return for your money - buy a product with better customer support (which i do).
And btw, if i buy a car and it does not work for me, no matter if its written down somewhere in a manual, i can expect that the service will fix it for me or at least politly explains where i am wrong and what to do to make it work..
But the customers are also expected to read the manual and learn to use the product themself too. no matter what product you sell, that is the basic thing you expect from your customer.
It isn't even an issue of what the customer expects from Funcom or vice versa. It's what the OP expects from us. He expected support when really he just deserves ridicule. And the people that actually support him (obviously AOC Haters) help feed this problem of complacent stupidty.

Also to the brain trust above me, you're not using the word apologist in anything even remotely close to what it's actual meaning is. Don't worry though, I'm sure there will be plenty of people perfectly willing to become apologists on your behalf. After all, lack of literary ability is also Funcom's fault.

I knew about crouch the first day I played. Some people were doing this same thing I asked in Global channel and someone told me how to do it. The fact that someone would ask a GM surprises that crap out of me instead of asking the player base.

Can't use that as an example, you would haveto say 'but the Tow Truck had to tow someone up ahead that DID fit their job description', because GMs are always needed.

Since people are using this thread to trash AoC I will add to it...I actually think the game is great, plus, I have had no problems with customer service the 2 times I have petitioned them, but the ingame community on the other hand is swiftly passing WoWs as the worst I have seen in an MMo yet and if I leave this game, (which I am considering) it will be because of this terrible community, and its my opinion that Funcom would retain more subs by not letting things get more outta hand.

Call me an asshole, but I"m glad to hear the GM didn't bother wasting his time helping OP. People who are experiencing genuine gamebreaking bugs shouldn't have to be put in a queue to have their problem fixed behind people like OP who make absolutely no effort to sort a problem out themselves. It's like asking a university professor to help you spell while students who actually need his help are waiting. As has been said before, even if you don't know how to crouch you could simply jump into the water and run around those guys. Failing that, look up the controls online or ask a passer-by. If GM's wasted their time teaching people the controls they would have no time to fix serious problems at all. Btw, this is not an elitist view, every aoc player was new to the game once and didn't know the controls. I only summoned a GM once ever and that was to fix a bug on my buffs.
Seriously, that has to be the worst, most pathetic excuse I've ever seen for quitting a game. One click of a button was all you needed.

The CS is always bad in any game when someone doesn't get what they want. I had a level 50 destiny quest that got bugged. An hour sitting in que the CS fixed it and then waited for me to see if it was fixed.
You ask nicely in a manner that is respectful you will get a lot more attention and help than if you bitch and moan.

There are also undesirables in all mmorpg's.
If the OP truly didn't know what to do then yes it can be annoying, at the same time we know CX told him there are work arounds, we don't know if they told him what as proof do we.
It is in the help guide in game, it is an ability everyone has.
The world is brutal, one day I was out and trying to cross a bridge in Thunder River and about half a dozen ppl jumped me and demanded a fee to cross. Funny I thought and made a run for it. Having this ability on a PvE server stops this kind of thing where I was on RP PvP.

I see you avoid defending the elitist crap from some of the elite AoC players here. I understand CS are busy, that is their job. I also noted that a customer is unhappy. The worst type of unhappy customer is one who quit without leaving a note, so you never got a chance to see if anything can be improved. The OP leave a note here and the elitist try to silence him. As a businessman I would say that is the best way to sabotage my business. Well done elites of the AoC community. You outdone the GM in giving this game a very bad chance to survive.
The OP is unhappy, it could be a misundertanding, it could be a minor incident. But you guys blow it all out of proportion by getting personal, by levying insults. I, for one, will never return to this game. I just deleted all funcom mail and linked your great attitude to my guild. During the dinner at my backyard tonight, our friends all agreed not to revive our AoC. Yes, that is exactly what you people said, we should not play an MMO b/c jerks are everywhere. You just conveniently forgot to point out you are the jerk.
The OP is unhappy, he complains. You interpret that to mean he need your what? sympathy? support? what do you think you are? obama? You are just a bunch of nobody like all of us, we share this little world to grumble a bit, and we all leave. None of us matter at all, maybe except avery. We all are nobody, and you pretend you are needed b/c someone raise some issues? No, the OP is just talking, like us. Even if we all support him, even if, it will not materially affect Funcom. Its just a bar table talk.
So stop pretending to be something you are not. But do notice something you really are, and that is, you are a bad apple in the AoC community. I respect avery and I do not want to talk bad any more, but definitely, I am not coming back to this game. I am surprised to see that AoC has such kind of community. It was not a completed game during launch, now its a game plagued by very snobbish players. Sorry Avery, you need extra effort to help Funcom out of this mess.

EVERYBODY knows that the child army of Hubba-Bubba chewers that infest AoC is the worst community in any MMORPG. How many links do you want to see from people on the US server side that backs this up? Because there are more of those postings than any other mmorpg Ive every witnessed in my life, my re-evaluation continued to proved it to myself and a host of others.
Take EvE for example: most people agree that they have the best community for adults, and that's not just a rumor--its the truth. Are there asshats in EvE?--sure there are.......but maybe only about 3% (it seems) and they won't last long because they find they can't "relate" to anyone.
Has anyone every wondered why Funcom added a Fart emote? Especially when they have a large chunk of customers begging for more RP Elements. Probably because they know that emote will appeal to a certain age group and a certain mentality....and PRESTO! AoC has found it's niche; catering to 13 yr old males who will never get laid (thankfully).
Another reason for this (kool-aid drinker plague) is that Funcom has failed to enforce any kind of regulations on racial and sexual comments in Global chat. Yet--if they took half the effort to clean up Global that they do with censoring "bad AoC reviews" on their forums, perhaps AoC could be tolerable for an extra month of play (before all the other technical issues get to you...bugs and disfunctional sieges...etc)
OR maybe it's Funcom is so desperate for subs they turn a blind eye. After all, the age demographic that would spew that kind of filth is the only hand remaining that is willing feed Funcom (well them and people with extraordinary poor taste in MMORPGs).
This could have happened in any MMO on these forums. If this were posted in the WoW, EQ2, War forums the elitists would have come out there as would the trolls. It is NO different.
You don't even know if this OP is real. Could have been spawned by a troll out for daily AoC bashing because they got nothing better to do.
This easily could have been posted in any game forum, ANY. Your blame on the AoC is biased. Sorry you hated the game, but I play this game daily and almost PUG daily and the community and support in game is good.

"heading down the toilet" seems to be the only direction this game knows. The responses to the OP show what kind of community you can find in-game. There "are" the helpful ones but they are outnumbered by the 12 year-old asshats that run wild thru chat and thru these forums.
Can you post a link to the message that the GMs got regarding that policy?
Or is this just another of your made-up rumors?
IMO both sides are wrong here, assuming the OP is telling the truth about his conversation with the CSR.
---OP---could have asked in Global how to get around people blocking a path. Many noobs probably don't know about crouch. Someone said hide works too...I didn't know that lol.
---CSR/Funcom---snarky remarks from CSRs are never acceptable. Dealing with unhappy customers is a given for the job. People don't contact CSRs when everything is peachy. Funcom still shouldn't allow people like the two blocking a path to do so. How about dealing with people who have nothing better to do than park their toons in a spot for the specific intent of inconveniencing other players instead of adding work arounds? You can bet this isn't the only thing those clowns do to give the AoC community a worse name. It doesn't matter if the OP is overreacting to what happened or not...he is one less customer and potentially more if people he knows ask him about AoC and he tells them how awful it is.

while you are right, every MMO has a asshat or two of all MMOs I have placed and this includes just about every western MMO I have to rank AoC at number 1 in asshat population. Probably becauue of the greifer friendly PvP system, and the appeal to juvenile minds with the pixilated sex and blood
3 times I sent off email trouble tickets to FC trying to resolve client issues using the ticket system and never heard back from CS, except for a automated "we have received your email" reply

I've always found the community in AoC extremely helpful on fury and crom EU servers. Anytime I've asked a question in global chat I've always instantly received several replies. Also I don't understand how people in this thread are being elitist. No one is saying the OP is stupid because he didn't already know how to crouch. They are saying he was wrong to go straight to a GM and then come here and say that aoc fails because the GM didn't help him in this case. How is that elitist?
