Champions Online - is it ready?

MilkyMilky Member Posts: 339

A) Is Champions Online ready and fit for release?

B) Is it a worthy follow up to CoX?

C) Will it go out the door full of bugs and unfinished content?

D) Are the gameplay features expansive enough to satisfy and go beyond the expectations of today's mmoRPG'ers?

Early next month actually.  But if it'll help you sleep soundly tonight, I have been hearing good things from the people in the closed beta.

I, too, have heard some good things coming out of beta.  Looking forward to playing this one.  I like the fact that it is basically classless.

A good friend of mine is in CB. What he s told me alone(not to mention watching him play) made me pre order. I loved COX, but it needed more in content and char development. All I can say you re in luck if thats what you want. Not to mention the combat is awesome.

  • LeetheLeethe Member UncommonPosts: 893

The combat is very fast and as the other poster said 'awesome'. I would never call this CoX2. The game really plays differently and what they didn't do was CoH with a few new bits thrown in.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

Yeah I have heard from people in Beta (these are people that said it was not ready in May) that its ready.  There is some polish that needs to be done but its better then most games at this stage (coughageofconancough).

I have been playing Champion's Online now for a few weeks. They have made big changes to the game. I am loving the game right not cant wait for the release. If you are going to play the game use a Xbox 360 controller. Yes it make the game allot easier to play .

    A) Is Champions Online ready and fit for release?

If it is released tomorrow i would be very happy with there game. there are very small things that need to be fixed. They still are adding thing to the game. So i would wait till they are ready it will only get better.

    B) Is it a worthy follow up to CoX?

YES YES it improves in just about every way. Powers are way more fun. Being able to pick any power from any power set is so much fun.

    C) Will it go out the door full of bugs and unfinished content?

Nope there is very little unfinished content right now. For the most part it seems like they are tweaking alittle here and a little there

    D) Are the game play features expansive enough to satisfy and go beyond the expectations of today's mmoRPG'ers?

There is way to much content that i see so far. I am only at lvl 24. At 25 you will be able to make a nemesis who will interup missions you are on. Be part of you over all story. He or She will be a very big party of other people universe too. There is always the character creation allot bigger then CoX. You also are able to change your powers look. you can also change where the powers come from fist, open hand, chest , eye, etc...

One thing I know for sure is that the Cryptic Item Mall for you to spend your real money in is definitely ready.

Has the NDA been liffted yet?

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

This is very encouraging. I look forward to calling some of my Coh buds out of Paragon City for good and taking a few more dollars out of Floyd Grubb and Ncsoft's greedy maw.

Do you make your nemesis at level 25 or do you make your nemesis during your character creation and encounter him at level 25?

I thought I heard somewhere (possibly a video?) that you make your nemesis during character creation.

Also, how quickly can you level...not that I'm into powerleveling, just curious how "grindy" the process is.

    Thanks

What featues will it have outside of character customization and combat?  For me, there needs to be a LOT more than hack and slash.

You think it's not ready? Just curious as how you would know one way or another unless you were an actual insider. And by that I mean an employee, not some random guy who can't be bothered to follow the agreement.

Yes, it's going against my whole belief system, ignore it...continue justifying it, nothing to see, keep moving. Baa.

Good point. I never drank of the Warcraft Kool-Aid tho so Roper will have to wait his turn to be on my crap list. My quarrel's with Grubb and co.

The best thing Aion has going for it is the polish. If CO manages to be polished as well, and if the design decisions they made truly improve on CoH's faults, then CO will be a viable contender.

Agreed, Aion is polished for sure, I was amazed at how polished it was. That said on pure enjoyment, CO was way better for me. Don t get me wrong CO is very polished from what I ve seen. When it comes down to it, it s fun that matters to me and CO has it for sure. Besides I m sick of the fantasy setting, love it but need a break from it for awhile.

I feel the same way currently.  I played CoH/CoV for a while, and most recently have been playing  WoW and LotR:O.  I'm looking forward to a change of scenery.  The change of combat pace should be interesting as well.  Overall I'm pretty excited about this games release.  I think it has a lot of promise.

Regarding the item mall, I was under the impression that the items available would be mostly cosmetic in nature and wouldn't have an effect on actual gameplay. Not having seen it, one instance I could see this is if you wanted to use a costume piece which has already been copyrighted, thus requiring a licensing fee. Not sure if that's the case, but I agree in that players shouldn't be able to purchase an advantage over other players in PvP.
